I decided to port a version of this deck into Timeless, and I feel like I needed to take a shower afterwards. I already hate Grief so much, and I was the one abusing it. Yuck. Now I get what Modern players have been dealing with for almost 3 years.
Didn't test Modern yet, but I would prefer a scam + ND into an otk. Not sure but Sorin+Shoal (Thrasta) and/or Soul Spike is smth i would like to try. Another approach on Scam, I would like to try is Ripples of Undeath instead of ND go UB for Priced + Narcomoeba and the option of the free Blue Counter and maybe some "fair" reanimate
I'm really low on Necrodom in the package. I don't think it's necessary for Scam, but I'd also never play anything but RB scam because it's consistently proven to be better than MonoB scam. Really high on 3x Nethergoyf in RB Scam though, it's doing wonders for me already 1 for 2 in leagues so far this week.
Do you think a viable version of this deck exists without the grief package? I want to play something similar, more aggro oriented if possible, but I really don't want to commit the money to get the griefs, and I have a hunch necro will be the deciding factor in grief finally eating a ban. I thought of maybe running caustic broncos, or sorin + vein ripper, or troll of khazad dum + persist?
Grief is really the absolute all star of the deck, but with that being said I have played with the persist troll combo and it’s cool but is a nombo with necro.

So you can't get multiple rounds of triggers in your end step. If it wasn't legendary, having two would mean you could pay 5 life for the first one, see if you drew what you needed, and then use that information to determine what to do with the other trigger. It being legendary means you have to go all-in on the one trigger.
Also, I think flavour-wise it's referencing a singular event of Kroxa being bound to the Underworld, so that being an event that only happened once, it makes sense that it could be Legendary, although I think the design team said it was for mechanical reasons first, and flavour was applied afterwards.
leyline of guildpact + all the flares + any creature and you have every flare online per creature

So they get rid of your leyline and then what? The idea is fragile, but sure, if it works it's great.

It would even be even better if it was an Enchant World. (Like all the rehashed 'fixed' enchantments should have been).
