In my opinion the Hyrox PRO should only be allowed to do the hop back - hop forwards variant. I get that for someone who does a Hyrox for the first time, the full 80 meters can be to much. But al least the high level athletes should do it in good form.
Great video. I've never even considered option 3. And as someone who has totally blown up in the BBJ's, I'll try this out!! Loving the production changes too.
I did my first test run on a full hyrox workout and I was going relatively well until this station. This took me ages and I felt really REALLY tired from this point on (did the hop back step fwd). The row and carry help recover a little bit but this is surprisingly difficult. I really need to find the best way to go through this without ruining my race...
this is the worst station? I love burpees Rich! haha, the worst for me is the push led, eww! thanks for the videos! btw I bought your Hyrox plan and emailed about a discount to get the 2023 update plan, never got a response. Either way thank you for the training program, helped me a lot!
I think this depends on what kind of athlete you are - if you are more powerful then a longer jump could be helpful, but it could be too taxing for other who lack explosiveness. I think the fastest way to do the jump is to use the elastic energy from the ground like I in the hop up method, but again, it is more costly. Generally, I think it depends.
@@RichRyan while I've got you, in terms of pacing the whole race I've tried to stay below anerobic threshold but at what point can you start pushing without blowing up before the last wall ball? I'm 1.5hr athlete at the moment.

This is sooo clutch!
I was over confident in my abilities to do Burpees, that broad jump added such a painful stimulus, I didn’t expect.
Doing my first Hyrox next month in Houston. Option #4 is definitely going to be useful. Thanks for the video.
Great breakdown of the different methods. This gives different options when the judging for this station inevitably gets stricter.

Can you do BBJ's if you have bad knees? (even if you do it the proper way)? I have artrose in both knees, thats why.
5. Get fitter. As someone who just did a Hyrox and was slaughtered by the burpees (9:05) fitness fitness fitness. Everywhere, every event.
😆 this is the truth. Biggest tip for the burpees is to do more of them in training!
What about the broad jump? I see people hop forward rather than jump. Are they loosing ground and time. And what about the technique of jumping?

How long do these burpees take to finish usually?
Top athletes are around 2 mins - so somewhere between 2-4 mins.

The step up is so gay, hop out hop in is the only way to go
