  • I prefer my advice from little girls over old men anyway ;p I believe they are Delaney Quinn and Scarlett Sher, the girls who play Lulu in the play. This will be even cooler in 20 years when they are star singers or A list actors or something haha
Jason was indeed there!! I called it again ;) I will share a handful of clips I got from the karaoke in an attempt to capture the feel good vibe for anyone interested. I don’t remember all the names of the participants, but they performed very well in what must have been a surreal, overwhelming experience. The crowd, cast, band, and Sara and Jason were extremely supportive and it was a very cool atmosphere. Just a bit of a step up from a typical karaoke bar to a broadway stage 😛.
This was my second time seeing Jason by surprise in a week. I absolutely love and adore Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles, and Waitress anyway, so seeing Jason for the 10th time in 2 years to the day was just a glorious bonus 😁. I realized the date I saw Jason as Dr. Pomatter in Waitress was exactly 2 years prior to this night. Sara did some singing and things onstage after the show that night too.
My family and I were thrilled to see the special karaoke ending. My sister has been a professional singer since she was 17, so she had been hoping to sing. However, she has a cold and didn’t feel up to it, especially given how challenging Sara’s songs are to begin with. She had planned to sing She Used to Be Mine. I signed up hoping to be called to sing It Only Takes a Taste or maybe You Matter to Me, despite also being terrified at the idea of singing on a broadway stage lol. I could barely sing in front of anyone a couple years ago, so I’ve made a lot of progress and was a little disappointed to not get to sing (it could’ve been with Sara too since I picked a duet).
It was an EXTREMELY fun time again. The show was great. Katherine McPhee was awesome (as Jenna), as was the entire cast, including Drew Gehling, NaTasha Yvette Williams, Caitlin Houlahan, Ben Thompson, Larry Marshall, Benny Elledge, and Christopher Fitzgerald, who is always quite the crowd pleaser as the energetic, strange, and endearing Ogie. If you have a chance to see this hilarious, beautiful show before it’s broadway run ends on January 5th, you won’t regret it. It’s also as sweet a story as Jenna’s most award winning pie 🥧 🍰 🧁

    For those wondering what happened:
Sara- Do you need the words?
    Delaney&Scarlett- YEA!!!
    Scarlett- We can’t read though.
    Sara- *Dies of laughter*
Delaney and Scarlett played LuLu on alternating days.

This is adorable! Also an invitation for us, gown-ups, to follow some wise words … "change and become like little children"... I see Sara and J did just that last night :)

When the lyric book is brought out the girls say, "...We can't read!". The audience roars with laughter. Both girls are 5 years old and played the part of Lulu on alternate days.
