For the people that commenting hidden palace isn't unused it is in the mobile version yes u are right but it's only in the mobile version not the genesis version so that's why hidden palace is in this video

Imagine a mode in Sonic Mania called “Forgotten Classics Mode” and it brings back all of the unused zones from all of the classic Sonic games. From Round 2 of Sonic CD to Cyber City Zone of Sonic 2. It would be short, but it would be very fun!

Fun fact: genocide city (later named as cyber city because its a not so friendly name) actually was transformed into metropolis one act 3 because the developers tought that it would be bad if they just scrapped all the work.
And then the whole universe were finished in that Dust Hill Zone xD

I like how tails died twice. As a reference to the Sonic 2 prototype where Tails falls immediately to the ground after dying.

Y'know how in the sonic 2 mobile port Mystic Cave has an alternative route to hidden palace. Imagine if other zones had alternative route to scrapped levels

Cyber City: Secret door in Metropolis Zone. (The brightly-lit city surrounding the Metropolis factory.)
Dubious Depths: Difficult platforming from Quartz Quadrant. (The crumbling ruins built over the crystalline caves.)
Wood Zone: Some sort of secret tunnel in Aquatic Ruin. (The line of trees seen in the background of Aquatic Ruin.)
Dust Hill: Accessed after beating Hidden Palace Zone and is played instead of Oil Ocean. (The edge of the underground palace that leads into the neighbouring desert which also houses Mirage Saloon.)
Rock Zone: Secret breakable area in Hill Top. (The inside of the mountains seen in the background of the surface areas of Hill Top.)
Winter Zone: Accessed after beating Rock Zone. (The snowy peak of the Hill Top mountains, starts with a snowboarding sequence like S3 Ice Cap and 3D2D Diamond Dust.)
Desert Dazzle: Secret tube out of Tidal Tempest's volcanoes. (The arid climate adjacent to the once-equally hot volcanoes.)
Final Fever: Teleported using Eggman's last Time Stone if all zones are Good Future, btw there are 8 special stages in this "complete" version of Sonic CD. (Eggman's last base on the freed Little Planet of the future, housing the thought-indestructable R9: Eggman's last trump card to taking over Little Planet.)

Prototype Palace Zone is actually playable. Download Sonic 2 on phone and go to mystic cave zone. Try to find it from there. It's called hidden palace zone on mobile.

Hidden palace is use as a secret zone on the android version
And a secret code can take you to og hidden palace aka proto palace in the level select

They did with one of them though, right? Mirage Saloon is based on a scrapped Sonic 2 level.

Why only Sonic 2 Removed Zones?There one more removed zone in Sonic CD called R2,Rainbow Ruins.Remember that in 2011,Christian Whitehead aka The Taxman wanted to bring Dust Hill Zone alive renaming it Desert Dazzle but it got ultimately scrapped?That's why I ain't including Desert Dazzle since it's just dust hill zone but renamed into Desert Dazzle.
R2 didnt got out of the concept in the paper, some proto art of sonic cd shows that round 2(r2) was going to be underground, while other shows the rainbows in the sky, i personally think that if R2 ever gota level, it would've been something like marble garden style.
Well, Sonic 2's Hidden Palace is now technically canon thanks to Christian Whitehead's port of Sonic 2 (in a neat way too might I add)
Too sad he didn't make it look like the S&K hidden palace.

ROM hackers can do many things, but they just can't seem to restore the lost zones properly.

There is sonic 2 long version with Wood Zone, Dust Hill Zone, Genocide City Zone and Hidden Palace Zone with the music from player two mode and track number 10.

You know, genocide city can actually be played. But not glitched out. You can find it as its comeplete form. Which means genocide city is a comeplete zone but can only be found in the original version of the game. And not in the prototype. But as well as dust hill....it is comeplete too...its basically the desert where it changes weirdly blue and back. And then to nightime
