    Fred MacMurray was a midwest gem. Hard working and started his own ranch. Fine actor and person.

    I love Double Indemnity, one of my favorite movies. I love old movies period. I first saw this movie a long time ago. I lived in Stockton, CA from summer 1980-82. My ex was in the Navy and I was left alone with out baby daughter.I watched a lot of late night tv. I saw Double Indemnity for the first time. Cool movie.

    Beautiful homes , amazing to see how much better the old garage doors made this double indemnity house look. Great vlog once again Jordan.

      Exactly. Its not the same with the modified garage. It also looks like it sticks out in the street more.

    Hi Jordan, I'm a big fan of Fred MacMurray, too, did you know he has a ranch in Sonoma County, his daughter now lives there and runs it it's called MacMurray estate vineyard, I thought this would be a good place for a vlog! On the Internet It says it's not open to the public, but I'm sure you could finesse your way in. Let me know when I can watch that video 🎥 Love your work!

    Just goes to show how much times have changed. Back in the day the homes were pretty much open to the street and nowadays it's almost like the properties are protected by security details the Secret Service would envy.

    $30,000 for this house in 1944. The place would go for over a $1-million today. A $100,000 payout on a life insurance policy wouldn't pay for 3-years of living today. My, but how the value of the dollar has fallen.

    • @MartinSage
      @MartinSage 3 года назад +1

      Wouldn’t be surprised if Fred owned the house and rented it to the studio! In 1944 Fred was the 4th highest paid American in the USA! His wife June was an actress getting “only” $3500/week.

    How absolutely fabulous that you got this shot of the house. It has stayed in my mind and haunted me since I saw this amazing film and I simply adore it. Barbara Stanwyck (escuse spelling) and the rest of the cast were great and of course anything Billy Wilder does is out of this world! Some Lke It Hot! Eeeek, Thank you so much for uploading this. You have brought my dreams to life in these troubled times.! God Bless You.

    Hi Jordan! I am looking at this one right now. I only knew Fred Macmurray from my 3sons too. I had surgery 6 years ago so during recovery I got into film noirs intensely. I don’t know if you have seen it but he does 2 movies that will blow your mind. It’s Pushover and Borderline. Borderline has Raymond Burr and every film noir Raymond plays a jerk. If you haven’t seen these 2 movies I guarantee you will love it!

    Thank you for this video! I think the Spanish Monterrey house is in Los Feliz. I liked the double arched garage door much better, as seen in the movie. "Double Indemnity" was my second time seeing Fred MacMurray as a sleazeball. If you want to see another great turn with Fred as a bad hombre, check out "The Apartment," made in 1960. He plays Jeff Sheldrake, an insurance company CEO who treats his female employees like comfort women. I have a request that I don't know where else to send, so I'm putting it here: Could you try to find the location on Lasky Mesa, at the end of Victory Blvd. in the western San Fernando Valley, where Vivien Leigh stood with the radish at dawn and vowed never to go hungry again? Thank you!

    It was Anthony Quinn's son that drowned at W. C. Fields rented house. Quinn was married to a DeMille. The gates malfunctioned during rainstorms in the 90's also.

    That was Billy Wilder’s house. Hence the rueful voiceover about its price and the poor devil who “might never finish paying for it.” Also, I heard MacMurray purposely quit playing villains after some woman confronted him and his wife in a Disneyland parking lot, outraged that he had played a scumbag in a recent film. Afterward, he told his wife, “that’s it: no more villains for me!”

      The woman in question said that to Fred MacMurray after he did "The Apartment." She hit him over the head with her purse. He was so shocked by the incident that he decided he would never again play a heel.

    Good locations I never seen that movie but you got to visit Fred Macmurrays apartment in the film and see where Barbara Stanwyck wants to have her husband killed. Barbara Stanwyck sounds like Kim Novacks character in Vertigo. Evil and still somehow the guys falls for her still. You also got to see Doris Roberts home.I have relatives who loved her on "Everybody Loves Raymond", but I most loved her as Beverly D'Angelo's mother in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" Interesting about Barbara Stanwyck I only had seen of her movies and that was the 1950's Titanic movie with her and Clifton Webb. My mom loves the miniseries. THE THORN BIRDS, that was one of Barbara Stanwyck's last acting jobs. It is one of the most watched television events of all time up there with Roots, the last episode of MASH, and some of the Super Bowls. I bought my mom THE THORN BIRDS DVD Set . DWIER BROWN who played Kevin Costner father in Field of Dreams who I interviewed was also in THE THORN BIRDS he talked to me about his experiences making it
