    Hey Andrew, awesome video! Just wanted to add something that might help folks, as I just replaced mine yesterday. That 4th screw/bolt for the window regulator with the rubber nub can be accessed from below the door. If you look under the door, there's a rectangular plastic "port", near the weather strip. You just need to remove that port, and it'll give you access to remove that nut. Mine was for an 08 Solstice GXP, although I don't think it would be different for the Sky.

    • @AndrewRockYoutube
      @AndrewRockYoutube  Год назад +1

      Thanks. That’s good to know it helped. It’s been a while but I remember that rubber one being different and a little bit of a pain. The rubber just inserted into the slot there and I kind of had to force or bang it up. But, it freed up without needing to unscrew anything. Definitely having access from below would make it much easier and less forceful.

    Andrew, thank you so much for your efforts. We, 2006 Solstice, have been without window control for quite some time. It took less than two hours, working methodically with notes from your video. I may go back for some window alignment, but I'm back on the road. The rubber knob at the front bottom would have been such a snagging point, it could have taken hours without your guidance. This seemingly daunting task only required a few hand tools and patience. Kudos my friend!

      Very nice to hear! Happy it helped you out. Mine, unfortunately, had the issue where the BCM on the passenger side was corroded and a prior owner bypassed the corrosion at the fuse box by splicing into the ignition line. Ended up blowing my ignition fuse every time I used the window. So, had to undo it and leave my windows up. Costs like $800 through the dealership to get the BCM replaced which probably isn’t worth it at this point. Either way, great to hear it worked out for you and the video helped. Andrew

    • @AndrewRockYoutube
      @AndrewRockYoutube  2 года назад

      @@aquilesbarroeta2519 Do you have power to the motor? And does the window move at all? If it doesn’t you may have either blown a fuse or the motor itself went out without a broken cable or piece on the regulator. If that’s the case then you can just replace the motor alone and it should work. Or obviously replace the fuse if it’s that.
      If it’s the regulator itself you may or may not be able to get the window up all the way. Mine coiled on itself and the wire got stuck so there was absolutely no way to raise it because the window attaches directly to the regulator.
      What do you mean by attachment for the assembly?

      If the regulator wire is broken you probably won’t be able to get the window up cause it requires the regulator to slide it up all the way. Given it’s a convertible, there’s no frame for it to slide up on. It just sits flush on the regulator. So if the regulator is broken or can’t go up you won’t be able to get the window up.

    Very helpful, thanks for the instruction. My 2007 Sky driver side regulator just failed and needs replacement. May I ask what vendor you purchased your replacement from. My motor works fine but it appears the cable frayed. Can the motor be reused or is the regulator and motor all one piece?
    Thanks again for taking the time and effort to make the video.

      Sorry to hear about the window. It's never convenient especially during the winter. I purchased mine directly from Auto Zone because it was available online and they shipped it to me. The Part Numbers as well as Amazon links for the Regulator with the motor attached for both the passenger and driver side are in the description for the video. I could not find the window regulator available without the motor when I purchased it, so just went with the entire regulator with the motor.
      I did run into an issue afterwards where the new motor was drawing more power and was blowing the passenger side floor well fuse for the window motor. However, that was a separate issue. I found out the hard way that the prior owner 6 years before had known that the BCM was corroded and they spliced the power window motor fuse into the ignition switch. So, when I ran the new motor it was blowing the ignition switch fuse and the car would not start. Ultimately, I just reversed what they did and my windows are now frozen in the Up position. But at some point when I have $850 to spend I will get the BCM replaced by a dealership.
      I personally would recommend purchasing it with the motor as my motor had obvious signs of wear and it would be a pain to have to go back in just to replace that later on. Really up to you though
      Let me know if you have any additional questions about the whole process or regulator.

      @@AndrewRockRUclips I replaced the BCM like last year. Only costed me like $250 or something from GM parts direct! I DID have to pay them to reprogram it, but it was like $75-100, but still much less than the $850 you communicated above and fyi to everyone! The BCM also, HAS to be programmed else things like the Radio will not work and be locked out! A bonus is, it resets the mileage to 000000!! So, my care currently only has like 7,000 miles on it!! :O
      Great video and thanks. Ordered by PASSANGER regulater. Hear a thump last night and would not go up or down. Opened up and parts broke and wire all freyed. Ordered new unit for $222.00 thru Amazon (showed 4 in stock). Should have within the week and button back up.
      One question, may be silly....to get the window regulator out, you need to unscrew the glass to the regulator, then remove the glass, then unbolt and remove the regulator?? Working on it right now, so can just put the new one in and bolt up when I get it. Thanks in advance.

    • @AndrewRockYoutube

      @@RozsaAmplificationLLC Thanks for the insight on the BCM. I’ve ordered a couple things from GM Direct in the past for my front bumper as the grill was damaged where the emblem is located. However, they never actually shipped the items or gave notification that they were actually out of stock. So not sure I really would want to work with them again.
      As for the e BCM replacement, did you install it yourself? My concern is with the corrosion I have there I really would not want to mess with the wiring myself as if there’s an issue it could totally mess up the car and make it non functional. So paying more to make sure it’s done right would be important to me. It’s an inconvenience not having the windows but at least in the summer I can put the top down all the time. Question….isn’t it illegal or a major issue not having the accurate engine mileage on your odometer? That would be a big problem later on if you ever tired to resell the car unless you clearly document the mileage before it was reset.
      As for replacing the regulator. Yes, you will need to take out the window as it’s attached directly to the guides that make up the vertical part of the regulator. I show how to disconnect it in the video. You will have to mess around with it a little to get it to fit back in place once the regulator is replaced. My advise would be to work on everything with the top down so it’s easy to get at the door. Then, put the top back up once you’re ready to check the alignment. I ran into the issue that it rained while I was replacing it. So had to keep the top up the entire time. Also, be very careful with the door handle. That was a pain to break and have to replace.
      Let me know if you have any specific questions about the process but I think the video is pretty straightforward based on feedback other viewers have had.

      @@AndrewRockRUclips thanks for the addl feedback.
      YES, after I ordered and received the BCM, I installed it myself. I just set up the appointment with the dealership to reflash it so the radio and everything worked. They had me signoff on something acknowledging the Odometer would be reset and need to divulge that if selling. I signed off on it and they did and it and the net results was OD showed 000000! I had NO idea it was going to do that prior. I just wanted my car fixed and old BCM was wasted and blowing up by headlight lamps also. After I installed it, I figured was done. I think the OD still showed the correct figure at the time. I think it was the reflash at the dealership that reset it. But like I said, after I installed the new BCM, the radio didn't work as it's unlocked thru the BCM! Soo, needed the dealership to reflash it and unlock my damn radio! lol
      Yeah, I was busy all day and got the window out, then regulator and motor! Soo, I'm all set once the new one comes in. Cost me $222.00 thru Amazon landed. Should be here within the week. Installation should be no problem. Like you said, it will be the adjustment. This is the first time I have ever replaced a motor/window regulator, so unlike other vehicle things...this is new ground for me.
      Its outside right now and summer and clear sky, but have a garage spot until the new unit comes, so will be putting it in the garage until ready for install everything.

    • @AndrewRockYoutube
      @AndrewRockYoutube  2 года назад +1

      @@RozsaAmplificationLLC Surprised the dealership would be okay with resetting the BCM and not having an accurate mileage. Seems odd. Not sure why they could not reprogram it with the original mileage to remain accurate. Is what it is.
      Glad to hear you were able to get everything out without issues. Seems like you are on top of it and should be able to get it situated fine. I never even knew I had an issue with the BCM and someone previously splicing across it until I fully installed the window regulator. Think the motor was a higher power setting so it kept blowing the ignition fuse that they had spliced around due to the corrosion. Super annoying but Id rather have a running car than power windows.
      I am just not sure what I want to do with the Sky at this point. It has 120k miles on it. Has front bumper emblem damage, the BCM-window situation, and likely needs to have the coil overs and sway bars replaced at this point. Probably would not be worth it to do all that on the car at this point....However, the car does run extremely well and has been easy to maintain otherwise.

    • @AndrewRockYoutube

      I’m just recalling off the top of my head. But, Phillips head screwdriver for the actual door panel. Then, the motor and regulator were held in place with a bolts. So, you need a socket wrench for that. I believe the regulator holding the window was held with a bolt requiring a socket as well.
