I need more suggestions of what to listen to! Thank you to my Patrons for helping me pick these first few tracks!! Btw, my voice sounds a bit off because I was still recovering from a cold, so excuse that.
It's funny that you say that the Heart of the City production "feels very New York to me" since it was literally the first beat Kanye made after moving to New York.
It's crazy how Jay z is actually underrated in terms of lyrics, he's one of the best, prolific writers of this century, if you dig in his music you'll still find yourself catching bars and new meanings years later.
Gave birth to my verbal imagination assume a virtue if you have not or better yet here is a verse from Hamlet "Lord we know what we are but we know not what we may be So maybe im the one or maybe im crazy" Like who would even come up with something like this Jay a beast
'Reasonable Doubt' is, by far, Jay's most grounded and raw album. Since you've heard a bunch of the hits and have waded, ankle-deep, into the waters of each era of his musical progression, I think you would enjoy the first album that launched his career and skyrocketed him into becoming both a musical and cultural phenomenon around the world. Cheers, EJ
Would love to see a Jay Z deep dive by you. He is often so overlooked in this regard and its so refreshing to see someone look at his music with fresh eyes. Great stuff ❤
I would say Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and The Black Album are the essential albums to listen to by Jay Z. The Volume series albums he has aren't as good as those 3 that I mentioned but have some of his best songs spread throughout them. American Gangster and 4:44 are probably his best albums since coming out of retirement in 2006.
Oh. Enjoy the journey. Start at the beginning. But keep in mind that there is so much context. I keep finding out stuff about lyrics double digit years later and...yeah. Enjoy the journey is all i can say 💎 D'evils is probably a top 5 Jay track
Jay-z's Magna Carta is an album that made me like jay-z a lot. He brings that hip-hop/rap root but with a post modern sound. I don't know, it sounds like a fresh jay-z to me. Love all he has done so far, but Magna Carta was easy to digest before diving into his other albums.
I think youll really like "22 Two's", I love that one. "Where I'm From" is a must listen to better understand Jay. "Coming of Age" is great & has a sequel, since I know you dig the cinematic element to music. "Friend or Foe," also great & cinematic with a sequel. Enjoy & be cool.
If you’re going to get into albums, start with Reasonable Doubt. It’s key to understanding the philosophies that inform his whole career in addition to just being a great record.
I think that The Blueprint or The Black Album are the best projects to get into him, the latter surely it's the most accessible one, both in terms of lyrics and production
Please checkout out WHAT MORE CAN I SAY by Jay'z . Definitely a fan of his music. If we're speaking about reacting to an entire album I would say Blueprint. Of course you can't go wrong with his debut album Reasonable Doubt and The Black Album are considered all classics. But ibe album that rarely reacted to on RUclips but is one of his best also is American Gangsta..
I like the reactions, but you really should try to listen to the lyrics as well. At least pull up the lyrics while you're listening to the song to get a better understanding.
I do read the lyrics the whole time on my phone while listening. 😊 I usually wait to comment on lyrics more so at the end of the video when wrapping up, but I’ll admit for this video, or “intro” videos I may not go as in depth as I may for album reactions since it’s just meant to be my initial takeaways. Thanks for watching!

You should react to the whole “4:44” album. One of the most important albums of this generation.
Do the first ever Childish Gambino full album. “Camp” from 2011. This isn’t often seen but it’s got some of my favourite songs from him on

He is not underrated in lyrics lol he just criticized more for materialism.
@@LarryBonsonThe man has a full album about being a mob boss as well lmao
Marcy Me is my favorite Jay Z song and one of my favorite songs of all time. The sample is just beautiful.

December 4th was the one song that single-handedly changed my whole mindset on Jay Z's music
4:44 the best intro

Do Nas next.
The black album and the blueprint are the easiest anything before is still good but very outdated and difficult for new fans
Not outdated at all. Just more grimey and too gangsta for people that don’t understand the intricacies of that hustler lifestyle.
I like the reactions, but you really should try to listen to the lyrics as well. At least pull up the lyrics while you're listening to the song to get a better understanding.

Bruh, whats the point of reacting if u dont even listen to what he says.
Like u just listen to songs for production only.
People react differently to music, not everyone is indept lyrically on first listen. Come on, grow up.
