I think Chanel No 5 and Shalimar are the two most iconic in general. They've been staples since the 1920s. I think Youth Dew is also a iconic scent, it's still around even if it's not talked about much on YT.

I absolutely love gucci guilty intense and I can’t find another perfume like it that I absolutely love . Any recommendations?
The funny thing about Alien vs. Pure Poison both being heavy on the jasmin, is that Alien is one of the strongest perfumes I own and definitely not a crowd pleaser in my experience, while Pure Poison is super safe. At least, that is my experience :). Love them both! And Chanel No.5, ahhh, I always feel like a secret agent in the '50's when I wear it 😂.

I managed the Chanel counter at Macy’s back around 2007-2009, and Chanel No 5 was still, at that point, the best selling fragrance in the world. Despite the popularity of the (then) fairly new Coco Mademoiselle, we definitely sold Chanel No 5 more than any other fragrance! I think mostly as gifts, everyone wanted to GIVE Chanel No 5 because it was so special. I know many women probably have bottles of it that have only been used a few times just sitting around gathering dust!

I would add Paris from YSL , La Vie est belle ,Lancôme (I do not love it, I prefer the L'eclat version edp)and Kenzo Flower ( another that I don't love it, but it's a best seller) I prefer Poppy bouquet. Love the way you explain the scents ❤️
La Vie Est Belle too! I just needs to be said...even though it's not my favorite (I like it, I don't love it). The legacy will never, never die.

That story about Audrey Hepburn isn’t real… the fragrance was custom made for her but someone (either the perfumer or Hubert de Givenchy himself I can’t quite remember) said that she never forbade the fragrance from being released to the public. And quite frankly, can you even imagine a class act like Audrey Hepburn being such a diva like that in the first place..
Definitely Miss Dior and Coco Mademoiselle are on the list of the best perfumes 🌸
Flower Bomb and Black Opium started my modern fragrance journey! My spouse bought them for me on our first Christmas. I always wore them together. For me, they are iconic. Armani Si is what I wore when we were engaged and the Si Rose Signature on on wedding.💖Great video!

That's been my mom's signature scent for as long as I can remember! Personally, I adore Black Opium. My step-dad actually bought it for Mom, not knowing that she detests sweet fragrances - she gave it to me & I fell in love! It's now my signature scent. 😊
Oh, there's nothing like Opium. It's absolutely magical.
Love Guerlain! I think the original Shalimar came out in the 1920s! PerfumeShrine has a great blog post on it :)
My 10 all-time favorites for the moment are: Mon Guerlain, Shalimar, Mugler Angel Muse, Swiss Rabian Shagaf Oud, Paco Rabanne Olympea Intense, Estee Lauder Youth Dew, Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, Chanel No, 5 (my grown-up kids like it too), Dior ét and finally Montale Intense Caf
I would’ve definitely added Dolce and Gabana light blue!
Have always had a bottle of YSL Paris since it came out in the early 80's in my collection, don't wear it as much these days but still love the scent, and still have a bottle.
@Sandra - Me too. Paris was my first signature scent when it was first released. I started to wear it again last year and to me it smells lovely.
I love it- rose and violets so pretty. Sophia Grojsman is the nose behind it, love her creations.
CK one makes me feel so nostalgic... I remember me and my brother as teenagers used to share the same bottle and use it for going out. Ah, memories 😢

Great list! I finally got around to getting the current main Miss Dior Eau de Parfum and I’m loving it! I agree with EnglishProfStyles, Shalimar was originally launched in the 20’s. I personally have been wearing it since the early 70’s. Also as far as Jo Malone goes, to me, Pomegranate Noir is far from their best fragrance. Both Myrrh & Tonka and Sambac Jasmine & Marigold are much better ( several others I can think of too). Maybe Pomegranate Noir was the most odd and different when it was launched but it certainly wouldn’t be the first one I think of as the iconic Jo Malone fragrance. Maybe because I’m a lot older than you I see things differently but I think this is a very narrow view of best perfumes “of all time”. There were perfumes out there long before you started wearing them and some of them really were iconic and shaped the perfume industry.
I love your list, I believe you chose the really most iconic fragrances ever! My absolute favorite among them is L'Interdit, I am crazy about it! I also love your shirt, it's so cheerful and pretty, it suits you so well! :)

I loved the Madonna reference! I don't think you have to apologize for saying No. 5 is outdated. I own it and love it but its a vintage scent not for everyone.

I recommend doing research on the story Soki gave, the fragrance was custom made for Audrey Hepburn, but she never acted like a diva and denounced them releasing it - that was debunked by either the perfumer of the perfume himself or Hubert de Givenchy

What I have read is that she wore it for a year before it was released to the public; and that it was the first time an actress became the face of a perfume (common practice now).

I have a vintage bottle too. It was my grandmothers and when she passed I kept that and her vintage Shalimar.

Yaaas! Armani Code! I absolutely love it! I own the original and a bottle of Luna which I use very sparingly as you cant find it anywhere.
I love it too. It is one of my favorites still. I own several back-up bottles.
Back when it came out, it was said that good girls didn’t bob their hair, dance the tango, or wear Shalimar. Shalimar and Chanel #5 are a lock for this list, if you are raring by longevity and popularity. I am a huge Guerlain fan myself. If you had a number 11, I would recommend LVEB just based on bottles sold.

Hi Soki, I thought you'd include Lancome Tresor? It had a huge campaign when it was released in 1990 with Isabella rossellini. I would include Tabu and Aperge also. Thanks for sharing
There is actually a 2003 version of L’Interdid by Givenchy, too. I’ve been owning bottles of it, since 2005-ish. It’s nothing like the newest creation by the same name. (My current “2003 version” bottle is from a 2013 production. I also own a “current version” of the EDP and the intense.)
There are also 2 new versions of Chanel No5. I own a FB of the Premiere version and have several samples of the L’Eau version. They’re both “modern reinventions” of the original. I find them more pleasant and easier to wear. But they’re also not really all that similar to the OG.

FYI, Shalimar was released in 1921. I had a boss in 1980 that over sprayed and I can detect it a mile away.

I still love the original poison as it sweetens on me and gets less pungent on my skin:) WOW! Used too love Armani Code, got me so many compliments from both sexes! Flowerbomb was the only sweet perfume I liked ;)
I love Coco EDP it's my fav for winter and special occasions

Angel by Thierry Mugler, Chanel No. 5 and Lancome's La Vie est Belle are classic fragrances for sure IMO.

Watching this in 2024. I just wanted to say that House of Guerlain's Samsara is definitely one of my favourite scents ever although I haven't owned a bottle of it for a very, very long time. Also Estee Lauder's Beautiful is iconic.

1990's? No Shalimar came out 1925, even a bit earlier but that is to be discussed by others. I think you missed a lot of perfumes, light blue, la vie est belle, tresor la nuit, opium, la classique, lou lou and a few more, perfumes that really have made a mark in the industri and lead the way for other perfumes.

The 🐐 is missing White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor. Perfumes wouldn't be what they are if it was wasn't for that one. Especially for celebrities.

I love Flowerbomb so much. Do you know any similar Perfume (stronger)? Do you know a similar perfume to miss Dior Cherie and miss Dior 2012?
These are also my iconic fragrances. What I also love is coco Mademoiselle, Alien edp, Angel Iced Star, Aqua die Gioia, Armani Si Intense, Agels Share by Kilian and Black Opium ( all versions).
Nothing really stronger like flowerbomb! I haven’t been able to find a replacement for miss Dior Cherie :(
La vie est belle is stronger imo and longer lasting. After the initial blast of la vie est belle, they smell similar

Coco Mademoiselle is old people perfume for me, and it’s not that good in my opinion. I am very picky and haven’t found one I like yet.
I don’t like lancome midnight rose. Specially the raspberry top note. Smells to me like a cough syrup. Do u think I would like miss Dior absolutely blooming?
