Filip, from my experience, was a very insecure dude. No offense, but he was a RUclips influencer, not a journalist. He was at the job for less than a year. This was his first big video review so he fell back on what he’d used in the past. I’ve defended Filip in comments from hateful people myself. He was just in way over his head. The guy made flashy videos and IGN hired him because he looked like a solid choice. I think if they’d dig deeper they would have found that there just wasn’t much depth or rigor in what he was doing. This is a lesson to everyone. There is a difference between fact based journalism and internet opinions
SoloWatcher86 I like your comment a lot, very wise and well thought out opinion. 👍🏻 I absolutely agree there's a difference between journalism and just a casual opinion on a RUclips video. If I'm not mistaken, he did not go to college for journalism, he had little to no experience in that field to begin with, which is why it's shocking he got such a big role. It makes me think how much were connections involved here; maybe he was friends with someone higher up? That's just my speculation, not fact, but it does me wonder if that's truly the case.
I think you're onto something. Speaking as someone who listened to the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast he took over at IGN (NVC) before Filip was hired, I can tell you that they directly discussed the issue of who would replace the former host, Jose Otero. Peer Schneider, the GM of IGN who regularly joins, said that this time around they would be open to hiring a RUclipsr with a big audience. Its easy to see how that could get you a foot in the door. If being hired brings in the 10 thousand people who regularly followed Filip on RUclips, that's a big deal. So more than having connections, i think what's really going on is that two different worlds, journalism and RUclips/social media collided. There is SOME overlap in those two things. A big part of working at IGN is being good on camera and kinda being like a RUclipsr, but then there's a whole other part of the job that requires a serious/journalistic approach. Filip excelled at one half of the job but was totally out of his league in the other half.
@@CheddarBayBaby “out of his league” That sums it up right there. I’ve exaggerated on my resume when I was younger and quite inexperienced. Getting the job then learn on the fly on stuff I told I’ve known. You know, fake or til you make it. Problem is Filip resorted back on what he was doing for years.. copying. He knew he wasn’t going to be a good writer overnight. So he was dumb to believe he can continue with the job without anyone ever suspecting. His channel has been filled with vile comments for years. It just shows you how disgusting people can be.
@@Idk1211-o6u exactly. People don’t want to admit it but whether it’s school or RUclips, even college, there’s a lot of cheating going on. People coast off of getting the answers from the back of the book or from the smart kid in class for a long time until shit finally hits the fan.
@@CheddarBayBaby Filip could’ve easily gotten away with it if it wasn’t so obvious that the whole thing came from one source. If he was smart and done it like what many have done, he would’ve easily gotten away with it for much longer. And that’s copying pieces by multiple sources. Not saying it’s not still plagiarizing, but it’s less obvious. How many RUclips channels copy each other on video structures and content? They all do it. Again, they just don’t make it so obvious. Same thing with any form of art. They all copy each other. Difference is no one makes a big deal out of it. That’s what makes this case so interesting. Once it hits the news, EVERY gaming channel covered it. Which didn’t do any favors for Filip.
You are one of the few normal people on the internet. People have no mercy these days, they want to lynch him.

Did anyone win that 100k triple switch giveaway? If not then he straight up scammed people..
DancingDragons I have no clue actually, I should try to look into that. I'd hope for his sake, he has given it away.
