    The first time I visited Germany one of the first things our tourist guide told us was to be very careful with the bicycle lanes because they won't stop. In Spain we also have this lanes but it's extremely rare to see someone using them and if someone does they are very chill vs Germans.

      @@briansmith48 there are not a lot of US cities with bicycle lanes :D When I did use a bike, every ten minutes someone pulled over to ask me if I need a ride. (also, bike lanes on the street are really dangerous for bicycle users, thats statistically proven. That is why the Netherlands really have own lanes most of the time)

    This causes me issues when I travel around Europe! Back home, we have red tarmac paths that are shared between pedestrians and cyclists, so I gravitate to the red half of the pavement on automatic while looking at the scenery.
    It led to me almost being run down by a moped about 2 minutes after I arrived at Amsterdam Centraal 😅

    As a bicycle rider in Germany I gotta say: It's extremely annoying that I have to break and accelerate for people who walk on the bicycle lane. Happens often to me. There's a reason for bicycle lanes: Cyclist travel with 30kmh, pedestrians with 5. Everyone knows that red means bike lane, just don't walk there!!! -.-

      @@maddinek Nope, you are wrong. It is perfectly fine to remove the light during the day and nothing in the law states that the lights have to be put in one specific location. And police are not checking if you carry a light with you during the day.

    You dont need a light in germany as long as it is bright enough. But you can not have a broken one either. So having it removed like in this short is, at least to my knowledge, legal

    Funny but also sad. I went as a tourist to Germany back in 2004 or so. Apparently I was walking on the bike lane ( which I had never heard of ) in a the busy city center of Nürnberg. A lady on a bike came by and started cursing me like anything. And that's how I learned about bike lanes. Germany is a beautiful country but I would never go there as a tourist again. People are full of hate.

    No matter which line you're on, never change it! As an amateur Triathlet with literally 10 thousands of kilometers, I can tell you are safe as long as you don't change the side of the lane. A cyclist doesn't really care about the side of the lane, but he does rely on you not acting like a rabbit.

    Even though my experience in lower saxony is that the bell is just for decoration; last year a woman rode her bike past unsuspecting me and my gf, whispering "Nicht erschrecken" (don't flinch) while doing so.

      Nach meiner Erfahrung kann man sich die Klingel am Rad auch sparen, weil weder Fußgänger noch andere Radfahrer darauf reagieren. Wenn man sie dann überholt regen sie sich noch auf.

      I've stopped using the bell (in fact I haven't had any on my bike for years), because I found that either people freeze where ever they are (not making space) or jump in random directions. What works a lot better is shifting up or down a gear. That "click" (which isn't loud at all) makes everyone just step to the side without even looking.
      And btw. I don't run people over if they don't move out of the way. If I have to I sneak up behind them and drive at a walking pace until they react ;) .

    Sign 240 is a common walk and ride path. That is a sign 241(-30) which is for separated walking and ride path.

    Ich hätte als Radler wahrscheinlich eher versucht den Fußgänger zu umfahren - also drumherum, nicht drüber...
    Die große Frage ist dann aber immer, klingelt man oder nicht?
    Klingelt man nicht und fährt so dicht dran vorbei, dass der Fußgänger den Lufthauch spürt, mault der gerne mal wütend auf, warum man nicht klingelt - aber dann ist man auch schon vorbei und keinem ist etwas passiert.
    Klingelt man, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit groß, dass der Fußgänger genau in die Richtung ausweicht, in die man ihn umfahren möchte... man muss also in die Eisen steigen und die Kollision wird umso wahrscheinlicher.
    Verschärftes Schwierigkeitsproblem: Zwei Fußgänger laufen nebeneinander her, blockieren so halb den Radweg. Klingelt man, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit hoch, dass einer nach links, der andere nach rechts ausweicht, der Radweg also voll blockiert ist. Dann kann man zwar zwischen beiden hindurch, muss dafür aber erst stark abbremsen. Klingelt man nicht und rauscht dicht dran vorbei, muss man sich als rücksichtsloser Radler beschimpfen lassen...

      Und wenn man klingelt wird dies auch noch oftmals Aggression missinterpretiert.
      Gemischter Geh- und Radweg ist hslt nicht ideal. Sind zwei völlig verschiedene Fortbewegungsarten.
      Hier ja sogar getrennt- oft einfach zusammen, dabei hat das eine nichts mit dem anderen zu tun

    Bike lanes in Germany are so confusing, they look just like the pedestrian paths, in the Netherlands its often way clearer

    I hate this situation so much, I can't tell you.
    It has nothing to do with bike lanes, but people with headphones, or cellphones. Deep in a forest people don't recognize you, watching at their cellphone with headphones/ earphones, you can shout, scream, ringing the bell so much you like, they don't regognize you, and walking straight in in your bike.
    The same in cities. 😡

      @@beatrixk.6723 Naja, ist aber rechtlich auch bescheiden gelöst. Das Verkehrszeichen im Video (241-30) schreibt ja tatsächlich vor, dass der Radfahrer den Radweg nicht mal zum Überholen oder Vorbeifahren verlassen darf - das macht dann direkt 25€. Wir haben zum Teil Kilometerlange Radwege, die so beschildert sind.
      Wenn man einem Autofahrer erzählen würde, dass er jetzt für die nächsten 5 Kilometer hinter einem Auto das 20 fährt bleiben muss, obwohl 50 ist, würde der Autofahrer ausflippen.
      Bei Radfahrern ist das Standard, und das, obwohl bei Radfahrern die relativen Geschwindigkeitsunterschiede im Alltag deutlich größer sind als bei Autofahrern.

    Das amüsiert mich immer wieder. Während Radfahrer kein Problem damit haben, auf Gehwegen und Wanderwegen zu fahren, mokieren sie sich, wenn Fußgänger es wagen, auf dem Radweg zu laufen.

    This makes me more sad than laughing. I always find it so sad how people can shout at each other for such reasons while there is so much important stuff going on the world. It often really destroys my day, if someone shouts at me in traffic

      Wer im dtsch Verkehr teilnehmen will muss hart im nehmen sein. Als Radfahrer macht man eh immer alles falsch, auch wenn man alles richtig macht. Ich werd mind einmal am Tag angehupt, beschimpt etc. Man gewöhnt sich dran, mein Tipp: Lächeln/Lachen/manchmal sogar auslachen. Fight anger with kindness, dann hat man die wut auch nicht den ganzen Tag in den Knochen. Und blo nichts persönlich nehmen, sind etrem viele Deppen unterwegs die kein Arecht auf den Schein haben sollten und sich selbst nicht leiden können.

      Ja in meiner Stadt gibt es einen geteilten Fahrradweg, ohne farbliche Abrgenzung, der so breit wie 2/3 des Weges im Video ist und auf der Anwohnserseite sind nur Mauern.
