If you want to, you can blame the weak graphics because of the weak hardware used in the board, even by 2009 standards, with the only saving point being, maybe, 2GB of RAM, and even then it is a unified memory because of integrated GPU, which uses a part of system RAM. Integrated GPU is also a reason of why the game runs at just 480p at original hardware at the time when 720p was normal. But hey, at least it's a massive upgrade over CV1000 and it shows in increased usage of blending, 3D backgrounds and increased resolution.
Respect for playing the game at a real PCB and not using a patched version for common PCs. Was it hard to obtain the original hardware?

I actually have 2 CAVE PCs, picked them up off Yahoo Japan Auctions years ago in broken condition. Needed to replace the motherboard, power supply and a few IDE cables before I could get them to work.
The PC runs very hot due to poor ventilation and lack of adequate cooling fans, so many of them ended up dead. I've also heard reports that supposedly the CF cards go bad as well although that was not the case for me.
Everything inside the PC is off the shelf parts except for the JVS I/O board (CV-2000XP) and the black, CAVE branded case.

@@PEG From what I can see, the case looks not good for ventilation.I'm glad that you managed to keep the CAVE PC alive :)

A "massive upgrade over CV1000", yet it doesn't show in the slightest, since every single CV1000 game looked better (as any game on the previous hardwares do too, imho). This shows that hardware means very little in game development, at least in the 21st century. Cave simply didn't have the guys who knew how to develop a 3D game, simple as that.

Game also looks pretty good for its intended rendering resolution with nice use of lighting - the 360 II X port looks rather ugly blowing up the simple models to HD and the lighting was inexplicably downgraded too.
While it was unlikely to be intentional, the decision to stick with 480p and CRT was probably the right choice overall - early HD flat panels had terrible motion resolution which isn’t ideal for a side scrolling game. Even today modern OLEDs and Mini LED panels have significantly more ghosting in motion than CRTs!

The real ones (like the one in this video) are extremely rare, your best bet is yahoo japan auctions. Prepare to spend a lot.
