What a great podcast!!! Chris Nilan is so genuine and sincere in his podcasts, can’t wait to watch another one!!! Hands down the best hockey podcast out there
Just found this 1st episode. Loved hearing about Chris Chelios's career.Cup in 93 doesn't happen without Savard, but always wished cheli was still there for it! Great work knucks and Tim! I've been lucky to have seen and enjoyed your chats since this one. This one ranks 1b on my favorite list of your interviews just behind Larry Robinsons which is my favorite one. Keep up the great work . Not sure if if youd ever get my hero on for a chat. But maybe one day the king #33 st. Patrick on this show. Keeping My fingers crossed. Thanks as always knuckles and Tim. Longtime fan of you guys on and off the ice. Keep er goin' from NS!
Absolutely amazing production values here! Great to see you keeping busy Chris!! I don't have very many friends but the few people I do have close to me I will recommend this channel for sure brother!!! Keep on keeping on you da man brotha!!!!!
I didn't like the trade either because Denis was on the decline by that time and Cheli was in his prime. Habs got the raw end of that deal. Canadiens wanted another french Canadian on the team. Ridiculous Quebec politics had not place in hockey.
@@John-tp5gc I don't think that Savard was dumb - he had a burgeoning coach - and a superstar that was aging - don't forget flower smoked what 3 packs a day when he was playing - post 30 that started to really have an effect -I always heard that Savard wanted the two to work it out themselves - so they talked and Lemaire told him he would play him more but Lied so Guy said check please . too bad that it happened but I can see both sides
Chelios gave me a stick at Old Chicago Stadium would of been 92. I broke my leg playing hockey and had an in with the Yellow Jacket Security at the building and got in for everything. I used to stand where the Zamboni came out cause getting up to the 2nd balcony on one leg was hard. They said as long as I behaved I could just stand with the ice crew by the Zamboni. And after I just hung in the concourse after games. He was leaving Gate 3 and 1/2 and He had 4 sticks and I asked if he could spare a twig as he was one of my favorites. He said he needed these but if he saw me again he’d find one for me. A month later he never forgot and handed me one and autographed it. Classy guy.
Never forget spending Easter Dinner with Knuckles and the Chelio's Family in his rookie year ! Chris never wore socks in 20 degree weather Montreal when he arrived from CA ! (:
fun fact: Chris Chelios was the oldest active player in NHL history when he retired at the age of 341. Still lookin young past 350. He's a damned vampire.
I started watching the Blackhawks at the tail end of the original 6, so my first hero’s were Hull, Mikita and Pat Stapleton. But later, Chelly became one of my favorites and I was pissed when he was traded away. But he remains one of my Hawk Heros to this day.
Yeah, the battles with Brownie were epic! And with local boy J Miller too. Those rich Natick boys! LoL my friend went to Natick HS with him and got a job at Natick Labs
I've only been to Boston once, Who designed those roads. Some guy with a three legged blind horse? Thank you guys for talking Hockey. I apologize 4 being a smartass.
Geez Louise, Chris I am delighted to find your Podcast. TSN 690 is just not the same without you and Marinaro. It is unbelievably boring and flat. Go get 'em man. Best of luck. Thanks.
Is it ever boring now ! I also was a frequent listener to TSN 690 but ever since the departure of Chris Nilan and Tony Marinaro I really don't listen very much Anymore now. 😴😩
Even in 2023 no one in San Diego even knows what Hockey is -- or thinks it's a "real" sport! So it is an unusual path for sure. But talent, heart, and desire have a way of creating luck!
Chelios is a hero for many reasons, but maybe the most important one is calling for someone to take out Bettman - the man who destroyed professional Canadian hockey.
When Chelios first came to the Hawks he got BOOed at The Stadium for his ridiculous Misconduct Penalties. He re-started fights that were over but got most of the penalties with his Mouth. We couldn't believe we gave up Denis Savard for that B.S. I'm so happy Denis got his name on The Cup in Montreal.
Watching Stanley Cup final in Pittsburgh. Decked in Hawks dress. Chelios takes a player into the boards facing the crowd. Chris then slipped a punch straight up into the Penquins face. Of course, not seen by the refs, but seen by the fans. The fan next to me asks what should the NHL do about guys like Chelios. My answer, a big mistake, "kick all those Americans out of the NHL." All hell broke loose. LMAO
1989 playoff against Flyers when Hextall took a run at Chelly is a classic in my memories for ever
1989 😉😉
@@claudejuniormalo3012
Yep, my bad
1989???????????
Growing up, my favorite players were Knuckles, Roy and Chelios. Such a good pod cast.
What about Mats Naslund? Bobby Smith? Larry Robinson? Bob Gainey?
Congratulations and Good Luck Knuckles !
I love this podcast. The back and forth between Knucks and Chelly is priceless.
These podcasts really humanize the players and give fans a chance to look past 'fan loyalty' and appreciate them for who they are as regular people.
When I was a kid - our whole family watched the Habs, my mom loved Chris Chelios thought he was a Greek Adonis and was so sad when he left!
Finally been waiting on this. Good luck Chris
Great interview Chris. Great to have you back.
Loved Knuckles when a player, Great to see you again. Love the Podcast. Best Wishes in All you do..
Mr Nilan. All the best with this new venture.
What a great podcast!!! Chris Nilan is so genuine and sincere in his podcasts, can’t wait to watch another one!!! Hands down the best hockey podcast out there

I remember going to crescent street and going to Deja Vu bar and always seeing Chellios, Corson, Ludwig and Svoboda.
Miss those days!
Look forward to more of these!
Went to the Captain's night at the Bell Centre and the biggest cheer of the night was for Saku (obviously) but the next loudest was for Chris.
Absolutely amazing production values here! Great to see you keeping busy Chris!! I don't have very many friends but the few people I do have close to me I will recommend this channel for sure brother!!! Keep on keeping on you da man brotha!!!!!
Miss you on the radio Chris …… glad to see and hear you on the podcast
That was an incredible 👏 episode 👏, two of a list of my favorite Habs.
Chris a great Greek boy, he's the man, great podcast Knuckles keep it up
Great show... Tim, Chris and Chris... :)
Chelios is my top 3 had defence man with Robinson and Markov. I love Debis Savard but I hated that trade
I didn't like the trade either because Denis was on the decline by that time and Cheli was in his prime. Habs got the raw end of that deal. Canadiens wanted another french Canadian on the team. Ridiculous Quebec politics had not place in hockey.
@@John-tp5gc GM Serge Savard thought Chelios was finished due to a knee injury or so he says nowadays
Played another 20 years lol
@@jasonamorim9592 He thought Lafleur was finished too, but was too dumb to see it was Lemaire who was stifling him.
@@John-tp5gc nothing against Savard but Chicago won that trade

Legend
growing up in Montreal walking into Tavern 12 seeing all the Habs sitting at a table having a beer and Roast beef dinner
The “riots”. In the streets! Cars turned over, terrible looting. I lived in Montreal as a Bostonian then. It was crazy!
once a BADGER always a BADGER !!
Hard to believe the Hawkesbury Hawks cut Chelios.
Did you send him the audio gear by mail? what the hell is going on
Chelly and Svaboda found Peel Pub real quick 🤩
Love Chelios. Was so pissed when they traded Chris.
Hey Mr. Chelios, Hawkesbury is in Ontario not Quebec
I've only been to Boston once, Who designed those roads. Some guy with a three legged blind horse? Thank you guys for talking Hockey. I apologize 4 being a smartass.
I wish someone ask him about shanahan. He exposed him on off the record long ago but the video is not available online.
Chelios was a tough bastard.

I never liked Chelios back in the day, he's a total class act I"m a fan now
I wanna drink beer with Chelios
You dont wanna drink poison.
Man! Can Stapletion ever be able to put a sentence together
Bob Hartley would not have been the Coach in Hawkesbury when Chelios was Cut, from that Team
GET SCOTTY BOWMAN ON YOUR SHOW
At no time in chelios career was he ever better than Raymond bourque
Chelios was loyal to who was paying him the most, only went after the European players, and typical American hockey player
Clean check on Propp?!
Get Steve Rooney on the pod.
Should have always stayed a habs
Great, but I'm not sure what that kid is doing there.
That kid is Tim Stapleton. Nothing wrong. He is a good kid.
Great player Chelios but as a human being he was an a hole to many people including not signing autographs for kids...
Great podcast! See if you can get Ken “the bomber” Baumgartner on!
