While I was never a big fan of Mike Milbury, but I appreciate that his opinions which were genuine. He was a good hockey player and always seemed to give his best in everything he did, irrespective of the results. Now, after this, I really appreciate Mike Milbury.
Another great podcast, Chris, Tim, your show so wonderful and honest fair and supportive to your guest, and hats off to mike for his truthful evaluation of the past hockey teams he played on also represented as coach and gm, I can finally understand the Boston bruins dilemma with the Montreal canadiens, winning teams start at the top and trickles down the line, grapes is a great coach, but the gm crippled the bruins by over stepping his boundaries, thank you all for your great conversation
This is a fantastic podcast! I’m so glad it was a RUclips suggestion. I really appreciate the insights about hockey life that these guys so naturally shared with viewers. I always respected Chris as one of the toughest men in the game, but I truly appreciate his fantastic work with the podcast. I was blessed to be able to watch a young Mike Milbury play defense in Rochester, and then as a star in the NHL. I truly enjoyed his role with NBC Sports, and strongly feel he was fired without cause. What he said regarding the COVID bubble environment was nothing compared to what others said on the air. Thanks for making my day, guys!

@@Seawizz203 Well, as a Habs fan, I hated Bergeron for the same reason lol. He's a Montrealer playing for the hated Bruins. PS: I'm not a conservative or liberal. I'm a rebel, I don't conform, I do my own critical thinking -> something the world dearly lacks today.
@@rebeltvr6046 I agree. Everyone must form their own opinions based on facts. It’s hard to know what the truth is anymore. Anyway, sorry about the Habs season. It’s always more fun when both teams are doing well. One of the best games I ever watched was a Bruins Canadiens game in 1973. Just a regular season game, but was one of the most exciting games I ever saw. Both teams were skating really well and it was up and down. B’s 2-1. Sorry. But the Habs beat the Blackhawks in the finals that year. Hey good luck! Hope for better things to come.
Mike was my enemy when he played against Mtl, but we did not know the good sides of the Boston players mayby Bobby Orr, Raymond Bourque but happy Chris Nylan got Mike Milbury on now i get what i ignored back in those days. THank guys for the interview . mainstream sports are starting to play censurship like the social medias. sad to see this. now i listen to Nylan podcasts. Its real. take care you three
Love hearing Boston references, I work for an electrical contractor who's been working with Suffolk for 40(ish) years. Great company, good luck to your son
As an Islanders fan who previously was critical of Milbury as GM, this podcast changed my viewpoint. I now realize Mike had a difficult environment with unstable ownership and the John Spano fiasco. I was stunned how Charles Wang was so meddlesome. I thought Wang was a low key non - hockey hands off owner. I respect Mike’s humility and self effacement in mentioning how he was overwhelmed with the job especially as both GM and coach and didn’t do a good job. This was a fantastic interview Chris one of the best hockey interviews I’ve seen. I am a new subscriber to your channel.
Ty for the great interview knuckles. Too bad ppl have become soft these past few yrs. Some personal toughness and character is built on not liking something. At one time it was understood " you cannot keep everyone happy all the time." Now it's more like your one comment like a rock breaks one person's glass bubble. It's brutal. Truths hurt, but lies are worse. Stay true to your selves ppl. Great statement at the end BTW. So true.
Superb interview Knuckles. Get Bergie in next! To talk about the Habs-Nords (RIP) which you lived. With the awesome revival of the Battle of Alberta, people who didn't experience it forget the Battle of Quebec as the most intense rivalry in hockey... ever. This is now my favorite hockey podcast btw, you're really talented.
Great show guys !! Im 42 Seeing Chris brings back great memories watching hockey with my dad . The Habs were a big part of our lives . Every time knuckles would get on the ice my dad would laugh and say to me watch this maniac lol , in a good way. we loved knuckles.
Great interview, guys. Milbury is an intelligent dude and sometimes, intelligent people are vilified in professional sports because they cannot be put into a box by their contemporaries. You guys are two of the best interviewers because you let your guests speak while facilitating the questions we all want to ask.
Always liked Mike Milbury as a player...as tough nosed as they come and the kind of guy you would want to have on your team. He was a great commentator too...a real shame how this man was treated by the NHL.
Absolutely love your podcasts! By FAR, the very best guests and interviews whether it relates to the Habs or the NHL in general. Standing hand claps! I admit to never being a Milbury fan, but after listening to the stories in his own words...I may still disagree with some of what he has to say, however, I have a new respect for Milbury the person. Keep up the great job and congrats Knuckles, on recently being named a Habs Ambassador...well deserved!
Great show. Appreciate Mike's principled stands & his words of warning about today's society. You mentioned Don Cherry & Colorado Rockies. Yvan Vautour was the first guy he took there. I played football....yes....with Yvan & went to school with him in Saint John, NB. His dad wasn't crazy about the football!!
Since you go into how American players were given a hard time and few opportunities back in the day, it would be interesting to hear from Robbie Ftorek, who was the best American player of that time, was given short shrift by the Detroit Red Wings, who certainly could have used his talent in the "Dead Wings" era, was basically given no shot in the NHL, and had to play his best years in the WHA. We saw what he could have been in his brief turn with the Nordiques after the merger, but by that time he was 30 years old and soon to be plagued by the injuries that shortened his career. I'm not saying he was Guy Lafleur, but he was a star level player who never got a fair chance.
I remember watching the game and that National Anthem at the old Chicago Stadium was INCREDIBLE!! Brought tears to my eyes. People came together to support the troops sent overseas and it was an amazing moment to witness!
These interviews are fantastic. Mike is super interesting. He got shafted on the TV deal, no one I knew was the least bit offended by his remarks. It was clearly a joke. There are a lot of broadcasts that could use him.
Wow. Super interview. That's now three in a row. TSN 690 ain't even close. Thanks Chris. If you'll allow me one small comment; your honesty, integrity, professionalism, insight, straight forwardness is undermined by the "F" bombs. They just aren't necessary. They add nothing, not to you and not to the podcast.
While I don't doubt for even a nanosecond that Chucky Wang's hockey knowledge was subterranean and that he meddled stupidly, Mr. Milbury never was held at gunpoint to stay in that post. Furthermore, he could be his own worst enemy as well re: hockey decisions. His trade deadline acquisitions and other decisions, whether pressured or not, weren't exactly awe inspiring. Trading Roberto Luongo for the #1 pick to draft Rick DiPietro is a dischargeable offense for any owner who knows the first thing about the NHL. He should have been fired on the spot for that. Period.
