- Have you ever held back due to fear? Lifelong stutterer and award-winning Speaker and Comedian Joze Piranian shares his ongoing journey of confronting fear to motivate others to overcome their own obstacles (their "inner stutter") and fulfill their true potential. By the way: “Your internet is fine - it’s me who is buffering!” Joze Piranian is a lifelong stutterer on the quest to confront his fears one stage at a time, through public speaking, stand-up comedy and random social interactions. He shares his tale of overcoming adversity with people worldwide to motivate them to face their fears, overcome their obstacles (their “inner stutter”) and fulfill their potential.
Joze holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Psychology from McGill University and a Master of International Business from Queen’s University. He is passionate about motivational psychology, stoicism, travelling and languages - he stutters in six of them.
Joze came in first at the inspirational public speaking competition Speaker Slam in May and subsequently won their Grand Slam in November, where the 2016-2017 winners competed.
Joze has also started doing stand-up comedy this year; he’s performed in Toronto, Montreal and New York at venues including Broadway Comedy Club, Yuk Yuks, Comedy Works, Second City and Absolute Comedy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
The bravery of this young man makes me feel such like a coward for allowing my stutter to hinder my personal and career growth.. Those who speak fluently please acknowledge that every time you speak it is a blessing with every word. this is the year that plan to speak publicly and go to college.. I'm a singer but singing is easy, I'm a writer but writing is easy. I want to challenge myself a speak publicly..
One of the most genuine TED talks I've seen in a long time!
Thanks Alex!!

I love every part of this tedx talk, there are a lot of stutterers that have found ways to overcome their stutter when making a public speech because they were exposed to trainings, over here in Africa we do not have institutions for people with stutter, so it was inspirational seeing you make a public speech stuttering and not giving a f**k. Thank you do much for sharing. Am thinking of joining a debate team too( something I dread) but if you can do so can I
Man you are awesome!
Abhimanyu tiwari I think its costal breathing. Awesom
Pra jo okay. But the speaker himself mentioned that he's using breathing technique. I think, both technique are somewhat similar.
