Enemies with ZERO Poise will be staggered by kicks, while enemies with any Poise value higher than zero won't be affected at all. For example: You can kick Havel around without any issue, but kicking a Man-Serpent will never trigger a stagger.
Oh God, the Mimic's spin kick. Especially while it laughs at you, I watched a man get spin kicked down an elevator shaft, and told he must beat Sheng Long to stand a chance
god, that animation is so slow, a hit with a ultra greatsword is propably faster, btw. a follow up idea would be a demon fist weapon art only run, i don´t know how strong it is, but firestorm is way too much fun to use.
If you get invaded by and kill kirk all 3 times you can get his gear in the fair lady's chamber. I say this because if you equip his guantlets fist and claw weapons get a damage bonus

I dont think transient curse is any different than cursed . Attack is blockable, but causes falter if they land a hit . Doesnt matter what your poise is they still falter on strike .
I used dragonbone fist to win an unwinnable fight, once. Hacker invaded in Anor Londo, had infinite HP and force miracles. Backstab combos into Shoryuken against normal human opponents. After about 20 minutes of me juggling him, he sent me a DM asking how to get the weapon ('Cause it looks badass, even if it's not statistically great outside of that one combo.) and then jumped off a ledge in exchange for directions.

I love how we can see PC slowly turning into a monster in this video XD. He starts by feeling really sorry for Sif, and then goes and feels bad after punching some mushroom kids. Then he kills the mushroom lady, justifying it with the fact that he wanted the Elisabeth mushrooms. Then he "oops" kills Dusk when trying to demonstrate that one R2 trick, then he kills the sealer despite him giving all he needed "because fuck it". Better character development than most stories I've ever read.
I had no idea that you could shoot a hadoken with the bone fist in DS2. The way the hands are positioned actually makes it look more like Ryo's Haoh Shokoken from The King of Fighters
Finally, i've been waiting for this. I also wanted to tell you that i've almost finished my first sl1 run in ds3 (only soul of cinder left to go, then maybe the DLCs). I worked some of the things i picked up from your old guide (the outdated one) into my own strategy, they were very helpful.
@@Carnax6969 It's unfortunate that such a staple of their series was changed so drastically. Crush counters already made DPs pretty risky to begin with, but taking away i-frames just makes waking up with anything other than block or a read on throws that much more difficult.
More craziness from Mr Continue. I always loved the fist weapons in DS2. Combined with powerstancing, it actually let you box like a madman. Obviously the fist weapons in the other games seem a bit...underbaked. Once again, restricting yourself beyond already underbaked weapons so strictly teaches us all so much about the mechanics of these games. Keep it up :)
37:33 if you don’t use a transient curse then the ghost’s attacks are a guaranteed stagger (and they also deal more damage per hit I think). Love your videos btw (ds2 challenges are my favorite)
The reason you kept getting staggered by the ghosts despite wearing Havel's and the wolf ring is because your poise is completely bypassed by those ghosts if you're not cursed or using a transient curse item. Just like your weapons don't hurt them, your armor is also useless for both poise and defense. Functionally, you might as well have been naked.
I died to Pinwheel once and I'm not ashamed. It was late in the fight and he flung either two or three consecutive blasts at me that I didn't expect. Pretty sure I was wandering down there a little earlier than most people do, maybe even my first playthrough of the game. Anybody who isn't a tryhard who follows a guide has probably died to every boss in the game if they've played it multiple times. That's just the consequence of not having developed preparatory routing on trial and error.
My only run of DS2 I got stuck on Prowling Magus and Congregation, I have unironicallly died to True King Allant, every veteran has had some embarrassing deaths. I also first tried Gwyn, Manus, and Flamelurker, your skill in these games is rarely determined by the extremes of your ability, in either direction.

I think you've just reached the exact point where gameplay, commentary and general editing are in practical perfect harmony! I've been watching gameplay commentaries ever since late 2010/early 2011 and this was one of the very few times where I felt this way. Very nice stuff! And btw, this challenge wasn't even an idea I was particularly excited about when I saw the title. This is because although this is a really tough run, it limits offensive variety way too much; I sometimes like less challenging runs, such as NG+7 dual Bone fists on DS2, just for the fun factor. With that said, I must add I really enjoyed your SL1 NG+7 dual Cestus run. Anyways, this is just to show that even though I wasn't crazy about this particular challenge run, the video itself was just so good it kept me interested until the end!

1:12 That move exists in DS1 too, idk about DS2 though 4:06 I think this is caused by the enemy's collision hitting you when it's forced into the knockdown animation, which staggers anything nearby to prevent clipping
So basically a fully charged stake driver r2 when it's broken and your stats are all 1 ontop of the fact that it a has damage lowering gems and is unupgraded
The pinwheel summon is the reason I run down through the catacombs first thing in a playthrough. Without it, well, sure, it's still Pinwheel, but hacking away at him for like 5 minutes sucks.
4:15 someone has probably already brought this up in the comments but I'm not going to read them all to check. The occasional stagger when you send things flying is because the game thinks that they're getting knocked into you on the way to the moon due to the close proximity of your model to theirs' when the stagger is inflicted upon them
I wish dark souls had more attacks (like dragon fist)- that knocked the opponent away. The way the enemies of souls games pursue you makes it more of a stamina challenge. That's just my opinion.💀🎮

I'll tell you why the damage on her jump attack seemed to be inconsistent. It's actually really simple. The range determines how many blades hit you so therefore, the closer you are, the more damage you take.

Unless you have poise equal to or greater than 48 in which case it does nothing at all . It doesn't damage poise, but poise does invalidate it .

They go through your armor* wolf ring's poise will still work as normal

The 40% boost in damage is not counter damage, as it is unaffected by the Leo ring, but is known by the community as instability damage.
Yeah true, counter damage is kinda used colloquially, but it apparently is the exclusive term for trust weapons hitting mid-attack animation.

Clearly, this dragon punch is based on Dan or Sean's, 'cause if it was Ryu, Ken, or Akuma's then it'll have I-frames.
I always did find it great that the tools Dan copied from Ken and Ryu are worse than the ones native to his own fighting style
