Your tours of small river towns are like listening to a museum docent giving tours. Seeing the ghosts of signs painted on brick walls is outstanding. It's art, just on a different canvas. The fine stonework in downtown riverfronts is proof that artisans are everywhere. Thanks for showing those of us who may never see these things otherwise.
By the way, your comments about Wavy's sense of smell and tracking is right on. Having had two great beagles taught us to never let them off the leash. They just follow their nose. Great little companions.

Hello from the quiet frosty Ozarks Brenton! Our museum is changing rapidly and it wont be long till you have to pay to enter each room with a few time limits. Another video of value. Hope alls well and your enjoying your day! Tight lines and bent poles!
Hey Brenton, I feel the same way. I was a captive animal for 40 years, NOW I'M READY TO SEE THE MUSEUM! one of my fears is one day that's all we'll have is a bunch of rooms to walk through, and the way things are going now, they won't even have that!
Now is the time. The old system is fading away. The new one is taking shape. Populated by the new citizen. We're the old citizens. There's no place for us in the new world order. See what's out there while it's still there. Retirement is cancelled
Brenton, you are traveling on a living history museum. Albeit one that has been rebuilt and modified a few times by the Army Corps. Before the locks and dams, the river was a free flowing one from MN to NO. Consider where you are in this video based around Ft Madison, Keokuk; there once was a series of rapids from the Des Moines River/Keokuk IA/Hamilton IL all the way up to Ft Madison. A canal at Keokuk which went northward, was built. Later came the Lock and Dam, the powerhouse. I wonder if Twain, the pilot, would recognize the Mississippi that you and Wavey have traveled on.
Brenton, I just watched your latest. It's strange, in my time on Scioto, I never thought much of the river dropping out by the opening of dam gates, but there you were! But the river depth is ever changing and there is that need to keep enough water in each pool to help ensure the channel remains a minimum of 9 feet. Merry Christmas to you and Wavey!@@brentonsriversidehermitage

So joni Mitchell was spot on....they paved paradise, to put up a parking lot.

Your museum metaphor is somewhat similar to the concept furthered by some individuals that we are living in a simulation. Do you feel like, in addition to objects from the past, you are often encountering “non-player” characters in your museum/simulation? This idea of non-player characters harkens to your prior discussion from another video where you discussed individuals who seem to be easily manipulated by the powers that be via social media and traditional news media. I certainly feel more and more detached from the bizarre events and beliefs I encounter today, and I can relate to the feeling that there are remnants of a time gone by all around us that are out of place in today’s society (simulation). @@brentonsriversidehermitage I heard about "The Fourth Turning" through Alex Jones and other alt media folks. To be honest, I don't read much these days. Not exactly sure why that is...perhaps it is because their ideas are floating around in the zeitgeist...or humans mostly think the same and these findings are easily observable. That all said, on the surface, it does seem that there has been a big socio-political upheaval every 80 to 100 years (every 4th generation) during the past 250 or so years in the West. I figure that most people only really know/remember the main historical events from the past 250 years or so. Also, as Westerners, we focus solely on Western society. I'm not sure the finding in "The Fourth Turning" are valid globally or beyond the past 250 years. We also have to remember that the West has been thoroughly socially and politically engineered over the past 150 or so years (in terms of war-making, some would say this central planning goes back 250 years, at least).

I follow what you're saying. It was a big realization for me when I brought the responsibility back on us, the people. We hold our elected offical accountable (when representative democracy works) and they have to answer to the people. What happened was, too many of us have Beek duped, and compromised, and now they just dupe enough people
..and steal the rest. I hate to say this, but we've gone over a cliff. We're done. Just haven't hit the ground yet. It's coming fast...
@@brentonsriversidehermitage Sadly, I agree. I used to think the deteriorating situation in this country could be reversed, but not anymore. The complete dumpster fire this country has become is now burning so fiercely, I doubt it can be stopped before the whole thing burns down to the ground.
My name tells you nothing but add a she-female as Festus Hagan might have said but not a girly girl. I like cheap beer, box wine and cheap food. Yes we do live in a museum for now, history is both being made and destroyed. There is a slow trend that the "news" will refuse to see but the tide may be heading toward sanity, even slower than you getting off that sand before you contemplated gathering driftwood for a cook-up😉 and I'd better stop😊😇
We are the artifacts of the museum our Grandparents and parents have come and gone and now we are the last of the Line our children had some interest in the past but our grandchildren don’t seem to be interested in anything of value.
You got it. Breaks my heart daily.
