Oh you're definitely not alone! TONI gives theee BEST adlibs. 'THAT SOMEBODY WAS YOU' for instance, is full of those. And the way SHE sings the line 'how do I live' at the end of the live performance of it (with Trisha Yearwood) is unmatched!

People forget how commercially huge and successful Toni Braxton was in the 90s. Toni rivaled Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Celine Dion and TLC. Toni was ranked in the top 10 most successful music acts of the 90s by Billboard (outstanding considering that she only released 2 albums in the 90s, but her album sales were huge). Plus at one point, Unbreak my heart was the #1 most successful song in history on Billboard's 1958-1998 list. Toni had global stardom and made $200 Million in record sales off of her 2nd album Secrets which has since sold over 25 Million copies globally and is one of the biggest selling albums of all time. In today's currency, that album made nearly $400 million today = the same amount of money that Drake earned for his new recording contract 😲😲😲😲 and Toni didn't see a dime of that money because of her crappy contract with LaFace records. She was the highest paid female singer in the music industry at one point. However, her financial crisis destroyed her stardom by 1998 and Toni was blacklisted. The general public does not understand that the music industry is evil and ran by white racist men who have stolen Rock music, Country music and every genre under the sun from African Americans and white washed them while marginalizing Black artists to the urban categories of music and treating them like secondary entities. Once Toni exposed the music industry, (as a Black woman), her career was never quite the same. Toni did not sell an inch of records that she sold in the 90s. While Toni was blacklisted from the music industry, this has negatively impacted her legacy in mainstream. Because Toni Braxton did not have longevity in terms of commercial success like her rivals like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Celine Dion (who've had had at least 15-20 years of peak success among the masses) Toni had at least 4 years of global commercial success (1993-1997) due to her financial crisis with the music industry. Additionally, LaFace records fell off by the 2000s and was no longer the top record label in the world like it was in the 90s. Nonetheless, Toni Braxton is a legend and she is one of my favorite artists of all time. I love her first 3 albums (Toni, Secrets and The Heat). Seven Whole Days, Spending My Time With You, Find Me A Man, Spanish Guitar, Never Just For A Ring, The Heat, and Candlelight has my favorite bridges by Toni Braxton.

People sleep on Toni. Whitney Houston is queen, I stan for Janet, and I really like Mariah, Celine, etc. But I honestly listen to Toni more than any of them. Her voice has a sexy beauty all its own, and I would argue that she's never made a bad album. Her albums are more listenable straight through than just about any diva. Give Toni her flowers. She's earned them.

Let me tell you as a contralto myself, before she came onto the scene, contraltos were so under the radar and seen as the very opposite of sexy or desirable. Even in opera a contralto can never hope to the Prima Donna. Which can explain the constant heartbreak contraltos being overlooked so they forlorn, brooding and broken. See her song "Coping"
