Vibrant, crafty, playful, Neo-Baroque partita, with a very pleasant 20th-century harmonic language, and contrapuntal textures !!!!! Glad to discover Rieti !

What pleasant neoclassical music; often nicely "light," yet earnest and well-crafted.
There seems to be a feeling of 'delight in music,' in each of his pieces you've posted. A very happy 'find' for me. Thanks.

This would have been very well known and popular were it not for the fatal flaw of being accessible in the 20th century. It's a shame. But at least it has been recorded for all of us to enjoy.

Your comment makes no sense. For one "accessible" is relative. For another, there is plenty of music from the 20th century that is tonal and popular. We need go no further than Rieti's teacher Ottorino Resighi whose suites Ancient Airs and Dances, The Birds, Fountains of Rome, etc are wildly popular. And there are so many other composers, Copland, Barber, much of Stravinsky, Britten, Prokofiev, Vaughan Williams, Khachaturian, too many to list here, who wrote music you would no doubt find "accessible". And, yes, there are the figures of the 20th century avant garde, whom you dislike, but I and others enjoy. Why invent dark conspiracies when we could just enjoy the music we like?
