As a kid, I sat through a few live and many TV performances of folkies and was torn between liking the music and the spirit - and cringing at their hokey show biz affectations.
Not quite as cringey as the award show banter we get (at times the Oscars are almost unbearable to watch) but close. I remember watching Peter, Paul and Mary in the early 90s (at times they were on cruise control) but hated all the terrible banter between songs.
