Hi Quay This Is Jermey McGuire, I Felt That Way To 2 Country Stations I Use To Listen To. One Of Them Was Country Legends 97.1 it Would Trigger Memories Of PawPaw Bryan When He Took Me To Eat Breakfast We’d Listen To That Radio Station” My Grandpa Died Last November 8th Then 93Q Miss Treated Me When I Called The Radio Station To Request A Country Song From Kacey Musgraves. Rainbow They Didn’t Play The Song. It Took Them 5 Days To Finally Play The Song. I Since Moved South Of Mathis On Lake Corpus Christi. I Now Listen To KFTX 97.5 Real Country!! It’s Over I’m Done With My Old Radio Station’s And My Old Hometown Santa Fe, Texas
Randy Travis belonged I think to the new traditionalist style of country, in which artists reached back into simpler times but made the lyrics more modern (in the 1980s I mean). This is a song about being trapped in the past but also about being in two minds where to go next. He can't go on living in present pain, but the past has a strong hold on him. So it's an honest piece of writing, with a lovesick guy admitting life in the love lane is hard. Yeah, nice voice, I agree. And it fits good with acoustic guitar, bass, and drums.
The timbre of Randy’s rich baritone voice is unparalleled. My favorite Randy Travis songs are Reasons I Cheat; Promises; Take Another Swing At Me; This is Me; Look Heart, No Hands; Spirit of a Boy, Wisdom of a Man; That’s Where I Draw the Line; I Told You So; The Box; He Walked On Water; Three Wooden Crosses; Hard Rock Bottom of Your Heart; It’s Just a Matter of Time; On the Other Hand; and Forever and Ever Amen.
He freaking awesome...three wooden crosses...love without end...plenty of good songs..he went through a very hard time after his stroke..but he is a great song writer...one of the best...if anyone hears country ...they know randy travis!
My personal favorites from him are "I Told You So" an "Promises." He and Carrie Underwood performed "I Told You So" on American Idol when she was a contestant. He didn't sound or look too healthy in that performance, unfortunately, but Carrie was amazing. Carrie later recorded that song on an album, both as a solo and as a duet with Randy. Sad that Randy lost his voice from the stroke. Before he had his stroke, I went to Colorado as a teen and stopped at a little gas station in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A worker there said that Randy would occasionally stop in there. Would've been awesome to have randomly seen him there.

His songs "1982", "Deeper Than the Holler", and "Forever and Ever, Amen" are also great.
Can't go wrong with Randy Travis. Fantastic story teller. Try 3 wooden crosses and I Told You So. He had many more. Loved your reaction! !
Those are fantastic choices- my personal favorites are “promises” because it’s so real and then of course “forever and ever, amen”
Another of his gospel tunes is "The Carpenter" that is a great song.
Randy Travis is credited with saving country music and he certainly did. Amazing artist. So sad he isn't able to sing much anymore.
