The opening piano is so spooky and mysterious but beautiful. I feel like it would be good for a Halloween story, but man it works so well here setting up what is one of Disney’s biggest, hugest stories. Also I won’t lie, one of the teaser trailers for the 2017 remake using this theme but piano only at first REALLY got me. I’ll never forget the chills I got.
Loved this movies intro as a kid, but could only ever hear the song if I watched the movie. Crazy you can just hop on YT now and hear just about anything you want.
It was so beautiful, the intro got me to appreciate stained glass windows. I even made a stained glass window drawing of a rose for my Senior High School finals in Brit Lit class.
I love how this track sets the tone for the intro, and the film as a whole. The orchestration makes it hauntingly beautiful, and lays out the key leitmotifs very effectively. Alan Menken may not be as great as Jerry Goldsmith, Thomas Newman or James Newton Howard, but he's got a style that shaped a lot of '90s Disney films and is quite underrated.
Once upon a time in a faraway land a Prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything that his heart desired, the Prince was spoilt, selfish and unkind. But then one winter's night, a old beggar woman came to the castle and offered a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the Prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances for beauty is found within. When he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The Prince tried to apologise but it was too late for she had seen there was no love in his heart and as punishment she transformed him into a hideous Beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form the Beast concealed himself in his castle with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose which would bloom until his twenty first year. If he could learn to love another and earn her love by the time last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed he fell into despair and lost all hope for who could ever learn love a Beast.
There is nothing more deeply engraved than the experiences you have as a child. This short melody is enough to take me back to a time when I still believed in fairy tales myself. When the world and life were still full of wonder. I have grown older, more realistic, more pragmatic, but this melody will continue to make me feel like a child for the rest of my life. I love this opening melody, for me perhaps the most beautiful sequence ever composed. And yes, at this point I want to confess something else: the comic Gaston from the Disney film adaptation is my Sexiest Man Alive hahahahahahaha oooo Gaston...🥺🥰
I remember seeing the play of this movie at the Muny here in St. Louis. It's an outdoor theater to those who don't know what I'm talking about. It was in the summer so it was hot. But the performance was absolutely gorgeous and to my young, childhood brain at the time, it was absolutely magical. Every time I hear this music, it brings me back to that memory.

1:08 Just sneak inside was very darkness there has a nearly nightmare, basically from Dvorak: Symphony No. 9 "New World - 1st Movement, Adagio: Allegro Molto."
What type of music is this? What music style, or whatever? Because its so calm yet so mysterious. And it reminds me of Balto's soundtrack. Idk if you understand me.
Alan Menken French Inspired Music with orchestral flare. There is no one label, in other words, Disney Music. But in general, Alan Menken has some classical music and jazz motifs he likes to use
I am not an expert on genres at all, but for the orchestral instrumentalization and composition I think it could be labeled as classical music. Although, it has some aspects of pop I think, mainly with the incorporation of the melodies of the songs.

I miss the feeling of having seen this in the theater. It was quite possibly the first time in my young life I ever felt "spellbound."

You do realize that It's not an original piece of music though? Bit of an overinterpretation for a 140 y/o song of a french composer 😂
Between the beginning of the scene and the theme music is sad, heartbreaking, and very serious.

This is what Disney could've made for ever story in life
You forgot the word “to” between learn and love
@@josephlodoza8601 You forgot to say "between", lol.
Literally I close my eyes and I'm feeling like I'm in the movie

I swear this opening used to freak me out in a good mysterious way when I was younger

It's not pop. It's classical music.

This story reminds me of a glamorized book of enoch story line
Hey, do you have the music from beauty and the beast where belle refuses the beast's invitation for dinner?
Can you also do music only versions of the transformations and finale from the 1991 version of “Beauty and the Beast”?
Here you have this video: ruclips.net/video/01ZbUKvSAA4/видео.html
@@turinturambar501 when I said “music only”, I meant without that chorus at the end, get the picture?
@@WilliamHendrey I've been trying to find it, but I haven't found any version.
