Every time the opening music plays, I’m moved to tears❤. For nearly 40 years, I believed "Singing in the Rain" was my favorite American musical film. Then, "La La Land" came along. Despite watching the former for decades and the latter for only a few years, I know I'll cherish them both for the rest of my life. I was fortunate to see the stage production of "Singing in the Rain" in both Stockholm and Hong Kong, and it captured the same heartfelt magic as the film. Now, I eagerly await the stage version of "La La Land." I often ask myself: if I had to choose between the two, which one would be my favorite? The dancing in "Singing in the Rain" is spectacular. Beyond the group numbers, the male-male dance, the male-female-male trio, and the male-female duet are highlights. Yet, for me, the most classic moments aren’t necessarily the romantic ones. Both musicals are worth enjoying for different reasons. But if you want to feel the true beauty of love, I recommend watching "La La Land" again.❤

Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young Prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the Prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the Prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The Prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart. And as punishment, she transformed him into a hideous Beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the Beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his twenty-first year. If he could learn to love another and earn their love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a Beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair and lost all hope For who could ever learn to love a Beast?

There is nothing more deeply engraved than the experiences you have as a child. This short melody is enough to take me back to a time when I still believed in fairy tales myself. When the world and life were still full of wonder. I have grown older, more realistic, more pragmatic, but this melody will continue to make me feel like a child for the rest of my life. I love this opening melody, for me perhaps the most beautiful sequence ever composed. And yes, at this point I want to confess something else: the comic Gaston from the Disney film adaptation is my Sexiest Man Alive hahahahahahaha oooo Gaston...🥺🥰

I love it when musicals cross genres. Most of the time they come out amazing.

The writing? Visceral. Brilliant and witty. There's a realness to it that the perfectly cast actors breathe life into. The other writing, is the timeless masterpiece that is the very soundtrack we're here for right now. The impeccable timing and perfection of every note, tape, ping and rhythm here is hitting the apex of any movie score, anywhere. The percussion, strings and choral music is simply exquisite. Breaking the movie into the seasons of life and using the colours of wardrobe to symbolize that in different ways is just next level thinking. There's a soulful tone all throughout this film and then a unique, dreamy playfulness interspersed with the hopes and dreams of the characters. Later, there's a deep mood that the actors, dance and music weaves together in perfect synchronicity. Is this the perfect movie soundtrack to an utterly special film? You know it is. That's why you're here. 6:58, the film....she brings us back in to the slow rhythm of the celebratory, ecstatic dance. It beats slowly then rapidly like the heart of the film itself.

Unpopular opinion, but this might be the best soundtrack ever, better than Dirty Dancing or Bodyguard or anything else. It´s so diverse and so full of soul. Got it on vinyl and it will never fail to amaze me.

The opening piano is so spooky and mysterious but beautiful. I feel like it would be good for a Halloween story, but man it works so well here setting up what is one of Disney’s biggest, hugest stories. Also I won’t lie, one of the teaser trailers for the 2017 remake using this theme but piano only at first REALLY got me. I’ll never forget the chills I got.

Mia & Sebastian's Theme reminds me of "Eki (Station)" written by Mariya Takeuchi, a very popular Japanese singer and song writer, in 1986. The story behind the song mysteriously coincides the theme of LA LA LAND.
