The best soundtrack ever been made. I love the movie. It is art, with a very good Arnold Schwarzenegger, cool setting, and of course, very great music. A masterpiece!
I am a distant travaller, I was passing by when I heard this heabenly music. It is excelent, Music Of The Angels and great kings, the music of gods. I cannot stop listening for it has relaxed me into a state of thinking. I do not fell anything but this song.
Saddle a horse, take a sword or a quiver....ride the open plains....relate back back to a time of wonderment and fantasy. Excellent video and visual presentation, my thanks for this momentary step into another world.
this movie is probably made by people that really respected the original stories. The whole movie was very detailed and mystical. It really conveyed an authentic atmosphere. It is strange that it was only a story about barbarians but still very elegant.
... barbarian and deplorable to some; listless-vessel and outside to others. Above all: freedom-fighter, savior to those impoverished by tyrrany... and a man who would become King by his own-hands. There is nothing simple about Conan and his ascent to the best of what man can become.
All religion topics aside, this song always makes want to run over fields with the wind in my hair, watch unknown landscapes unfold before my eyes. There is probably no better piece of music for adventure. Roam free, and let others roam as well.

Something a respect with the choices you did on this video is that you show the the beauty of the art of the westernworld civilisation. People of the west seldom hear what a fantastic art and culture they have, Im proud of my european heritage, and I hope other europeans are to. This video is something that shows our sacred tresures.
Nine infidel dislikers will be crushed, driven away from this video, their women will lament, Crom will laugh from his Mountain and cast them out of Walhalla, the wind will not get in their tombs. And if they don't like this, then TO HELL WITH THEM!

A friend of mine got married recently, she picked the wedding March on line. Wait for it. She accidently picked the March of the Stormtroopers. Every Star Wars fan busted out laughing, and then applauded the bride.
Ok folks, thank you for your kind comments. It's been years since I have lost my password for this account. I promise to you I will make an HD version and upload it. It is still me, this is my new channel. I am not sure I'll find the exact same images but it will have the same idea. Thanks a lot all of you !
Every time a symphonic orchestra performs this instead of some stupid soundtrack that won an oscar, Basil wins. And it happens often. School bands play this shit. thats how popular it is
Bravissimo! Thomas Moran should be mentioned along with Albert Bierstadt and Frederic Edwin Church. They are the great triumvirate of 19th-century American landscape painters. I've read that back in the day, people would actually pay money just to walk into a room and look at their large works for a few minutes. This was when photography was still in its infancy and could not yet convey the grandeur of the West to Easterners.
Yes I thank you as well, because you see I'm not really good at orchestral instruments. I didn't even know what a bassoon or Oboe was until I looked it up.
Beautifull choice of paintings for an ultimate musical masterpiece. Would like to see your video for The leaving/ The search part. If i dont make it before. :)
The Painting is called "La Belle Dames Sans Merci" (after the poem by Keats), painted by Sir Frank Dicksee, one of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. I believe it is available as a fine art print
...Musica che spinge la memoria ancestrale a ricordare la perduta Età dell'Oro, che più volte, nel corso della sua immensa Storia, l'Umanità ha abbracciato e perso...
The song is a great hymn to the free Pagan soul! May we one day ride the open steppe with wind in our hair, no more weak abrahamitic Gods to worship only the strenght and beauty of Mother Nature! By Crom!
Hard to believe this beautiful music comes from such a violent movie-but who`s complaining.I would love to hear that very medieval sounding number the band is playing at the inn-the scene after the raid on the Tower of Doom after they steal the Eye of the Serpent.
@Lasstreffenduopfer You know I was about to say that - he does does reach me on the same wavelength as Wagner and a bit of Holst in a modern way, if that makes any sense :)
Theology : My god is the everlasting sky, you god lives underneath him” Civilization: “ah civilisation, ancient and evil”. “That better not be haga!” “Would I sell haga to a seller like you”. Just a few dialogues and this music as main character, tells us all the filmmakers want to say…..
i just saw the trailer for the new CONAN. it's a shame. as a cure, i will raise up the volume and play poledouris all night... 'till the neighours come over!
Heh, yeah it was either pop or even a disco-esque score! Glad Dino didn't get his way on that one. To be fair though the film had little or no chance of even being made without Dino's help, as no other studio would touch the materials violent nature.

watch?v=QGMfxsz6lYc&NR=1 watch?v=Quj_ChDa1ZY&feature=channel_page Such chanting was Poledouris' major infuence as he himself said, but few know it. Makes your heart melt with its dignity, its lyrics and its serene power friends. We need music that changes our day, and day after day our whole life. Peace.
1. in the movie (if you've seen him), many cultures all over the world were mixed to make it so original (clothing, weapons etc), not so very european as you might think. 2. "in those days"... movie plays in an imaginary era, in a time when there was just 1 continent. 3. the era you are referring to (i think), was very harsh, there was no time to "unravel misteries", people were too busy dying young (35 years max) and trying to survive. it was a boring harsh life, with not that much action
Look up Pre-Raphaelite movement (Victorian/Edwardian England). Also Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema (the Roman stuff). The two canyon paintings were by our own Thomas Moran. The one with the naked chicks (1:35) is "Hylas and the Nymphs". You know they're soopernatural cause they ain't got no nipples.
The masterpiece of the entire piece from Conan. RIP Basil Poledouris.

Conan will say: "Crush the dislikes, let them driven before you, and listen to the lamentation of their women!"
You did a magnificent job my dear friend. This is one of my abosolute favorite soundtrack. You are a good person.
This is like a dream of blasting the chains of society and endless freedom

Good music, good video. Basil Poledoris is great.
Super
Superb Dicksee painting at 2:30 la Belle Dame Sans Merci !!!!
How come Poledouris never won an Oscar?
Because the fucking commies in holyweird hated him.
Beige Devil He should get an honorary Oscar posthumously.
Every time a symphonic orchestra performs this instead of some stupid soundtrack that won an oscar, Basil wins. And it happens often. School bands play this shit. thats how popular it is
Crom has stepped down and helped our Good Man Basil Poledouris to write the music
so f... beautiful!!
A terrific melody!
Friends of mine used this as the bridal waltz some years ago..perfect 3/4 rhythm
Bravissimo!

@wolfsige That had to be a great wedding thanks to this music! You just gave me a great idea!

you're awesome.
💝Amei 👏👏👏👏👏👏💝❤
Such a feel good song in such a violent dark movie :D
Where is the art from?
@Lasstreffenduopfer You know I was about to say that - he does does reach me on the same wavelength as Wagner and a bit of Holst in a modern way, if that makes any sense :)

@SeaOfUncertainty Thou art most welcome, sir.
It's actually like a walz. You can ball dance to it. :)
Love Poledouris..now I just want to know where can I get those separate images?
i just saw the trailer for the new CONAN. it's a shame. as a cure, i will raise up the volume and play poledouris all night... 'till the neighours come over!
Anyone know who did the painting at 2:30? (the one with the knight who has his arms T-shaped). I'm really interested in it. Wonderful Video also. :)
Heh, yeah it was either pop or even a disco-esque score!
Glad Dino didn't get his way on that one.
To be fair though the film had little or no chance of even being made without Dino's help, as no other studio would touch the materials violent nature.
this is great, but I wish the live orchestral arragments were still available on youtube
You are right Morrinck. May the Ancient Gods be with you, pagan brother.
OMG I totally agree with you. This is what I always believed, but you pin pointed it.
what instruments are they using at 0:15??
The instruments are so simple yet so beautiful. I mean in the beginning they don't have any orchestras or anything.
Wasn't the music they played when Conan the the Asiatic archer were running about in the steppes?

Infidel dislikers, now they will know hy they are affraid of the dark.
Crom will laugh from his mountain and cast them out of Walhalla
Even the movie critics who hated the film loved Poledouris emotive beautiful score, and to think Dino De Laurentiis wanted to use pop music instead!
Increible,yega al alma
The art at 1.40 - do you have the name for it and or the artist? Looks like Cleopatra on parade.
1. in the movie (if you've seen him), many cultures all over the world were mixed to make it so original (clothing, weapons etc), not so very european as you might think.

Nice marriage (not of figaro) but of Basil Poledouris' beautiful music and the beautiful art.
karlhael; see comment at top regarding painting
He was fond of the norse sagas, but he was also influenced by Christianity in his writing. And he was a devout Catholic.
You mean when Conan was running around with Subotai, the Hyrkanian thief & archer? Yeah, the music is from that scene.

I meant Poledouris mate, sorry. Yes, Tolkien was a Catholic...:)
oh okay damn itsbecause im considering getting the ps3 game and i really like this music so i hoped it would be in it
Do you want to live forever !!!!??
Crom laughs at the four dislikers. He laughs from his mountain.
