Alex, you tickle me... You like everything to be clean, neat and tidy and yet you've chosen a life style that puts you right in the middle of dust, dirt and molld chaos. Funny how that works out so great. You're a good person Alex. Keep doing what you do so well. Thanks.
Exactly, just ignore any unnecessary comments. You think someone said. I think you need to do that a lot on u tube. I think Alex has a lot of patience.😊
People are buying anything that glows under a black light (quality light) and I've seen some marbles glow like crazy. Just thought I'd share that with you. They're a beautiful bunch you bought.
As a person who models HO scale, I recognize many of the brands that are shown. Some of these are Bachmann, Tyco, Athearn, MDC (Model Diecast Company/Roundhouse), Life-Like, IHC (International Hobby Corporation), and Accurail. The Pennsylvania steam engine goes to the Bachmann Spectrum box while the Canadian Pacific steam engine goes to the IHC box. As for as the Bachmann Consolidation Steam engine, it should be the one with the number 765. The Clementine consolidation is a Tyco steamer along with the Chattanooga steam engine and the old-time 4-6-0 (ten-wheeler). There is one last steam that I noticed was the 0-8-0 steam engine. I believe this is a Rivarossi steam engine. Checking the bottom side will confirm this. I hope this might help on identifying the steam engines.
My late husband had an HO scale train setup that was a WWII military scene. He spent many hours putting it together as a teenager, but sadly it never came out of the boxes after we married. We simply had no room in our small house. Neither of my children showed interest in it, so there it still sits😂. Would love to find a local train club to donate it to to have it finally displayed. Thanks for saving the trains you found and passing them along.🥰🥰🥰
Another RUclips series that I watch is called the old Bird Farm. It’s in Georgia USA. And just this morning he found in this old farm that he’s renovating a box of marbles in there with some uranium marbles along with old clay marbles. Very interesting.
I do also watch the OBFwith all Roberts adventures ,plus Curiousity Inc .Love watching them both .I just finished watching that video about Roberts find .Very interesting .👍
I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning old bird farm. I collect marbles, so I went and checked out the channel..... new I am a new subscriber! So thank you✌️❣️☀️🌻💯
@@nancymomfam4761 Nancy if you can go back and watch it from the beginning ( OLD BIRD FARM .).You will be surprised how it looked in the beginning with all that nasty wisteria covering the the house and property .Quire a difference now with what Robert has done now .He admits he has a long ways to go yet .But he will get there in time when he can accumulate money from selling candles ,honey apparel (T shirts hats etc ) vegetables artifacts etc to continue to restore the house and improve the land .Really great content he puts out and interesting to .👍
I love this channel so much! It feels like a fun classroom environment where we learn something new about old-school products, toys and cars!! Keep it up!!
The train with the red, white, and blue striping is The 1976 Freedom Train that toured in celebration of America’s Bicentennial 1776-1976. I was in 6th grade and my class traveled 40 minutes from Columbia, MO to Jefferson City, MO. A great field trip and great memories! I’d be interested in seeing what it sells for. American History pieces.
Hi! I love collecting vintage trains . Just a note on some of them. Any engines made by Bachmann should be tested with 12v DC. If they click or snap the gears are shot. Bachmanns are notorious for having cracked gears which makes them worth a whole lot less. The Clementine engine is made by TYCO I believe. The American Freedom train is actually a Bachmann sold by Lionel. Most of the value Id guess will be in the accurail stuff. Most plastic cars are probably $10 or less- actually the little orange action car Is TYCO. i have two of them and yours is the third ive seen with a slightly melted spot. Cool to see what you found!
This was fun. Thx for showing us your newest finds. The German model carriages are cool.. The last one isn't carrying apples, but something much more German: It's cabbage. :) The box says "Kastenwagen (box wagon) mit Krautladung (with cabbage load)" .. probably going to a Sauerkraut factory . haha. .. My Dad used to tell stories about his childhood right after the war, when these wagons were still a common thing on roads of the countryside. The little boys used to hide in ditches, waiting for these farmer's box wagons to pass by. Then, one boy (usually my dad ^^) would secretly jump onto the driving by wagon and then secretly throw down some cabbages while the other kids would pick them up from the street and then run away with one cabbage each, so their families would have something to eat for dinner every other day.. in winter it would be cabbages.. other times it would be potatoes or beet roots.. The damage was very small of course and the farmers very much likely aware about these "heists" by the kids, but were feigning ignorance, knowing the families would starve otherwise. But, as my father used to tell it, these "heists" were always very scary for the kids, but had to be done.
I own one similar to that light blue 1. I have a jar of marbles, so it can’t be said that I’ve lost my marbles. Most of mine I’ve found during my lifetime
Love the new introduction! That book binding thingy is nice for flattening stuff. Some of those marble could be made with uranium glass. I have some from 1910 and they glow (or some of the swirls will) when you shine a black light flashlight on them. I love everything you picked up! Thank you Alex.
I have a couple of pre-WWII-era Japanese CP rail passenger cars that my father built while rehabbing in hospital during the war. They're in the original boxes and are complete with instructions. If that is something you or anybody else would be interested in I'd be happy to donate them.
The HO trains are 95% low end train set clunkers. The blue box Athearn can get around $5 each at a swap meet. The engines have horn hook X2F couplers, and are low quality entry level. Total, you might get $25-50 if you sold them all together. Sorry about the amount, but that is the reality. Just not worth the time to sell, sadly. I am a dealer at shows and see this stuff commonly.
Last train show I went to most of the old kits like that went for $10 +/-. I'd call the kits mid range. I agree on most the engines and the Cox and Tyco cars, lower end. Bachmans are OK, but as mentioned, do have issues. But, a couple of hundred for what I saw might be possible. Now, anything that's DCC or DCC ready has a bit more value. There's also at least the one building kit that I saw. That's got some value.
Alexander, Thank you. I love the book press. Isn't there a fellow who who has a book store and does book binding who we use to see when you had your own place? Was it Bailey's book store? Maybe he would like that press? Cheers, Rik Spector
The barcode on the Star Trek model tells me it's from the 80's a qucik search n the Ertl Part Number, 6676 puts it to about 1983, cool find though, thanks for sharing
I recognize the book press from the "3 Stooges" shorts where Moe would put Curly's head in one. I think Moe would say something like "I'll squeeze your adams apple". Stooges were big when I grew up. Thanks
In the 1920s a kid would be thrilled (and lucky) to get just a few of those metal soldiers for Christmas or a birthday, today's kids expect no less than an iPhone 13 LOL
The difference between a steely marble and a ball bearing is makers mark/seams. bearings are dead smooth, most steelies were not finished so exactingly
What a wonderful surprise to a very dreary cold, wet, potentially icy morning in the Pacific Northwest. TREASURE! Good morning all, I hope everyone is safely inside and warm and dry.
@sweetds1 Everett. We are currently getting yucky wet sleet at 33°.I'm hoping for a rise in temperature so it doesn't form sheets of ice.The daughter is on Whidbey. That press would work perfectly for herbariums … pressing plants As for glass mables they were still newly fabricated back in the 1970s when my boys were small. And you can still buy new ones
Interesting that that marble bag is an old "Sunny Boy" cereal bag. I used to eat it regularly in my early Edmomton days. I have found it here in Toronto too, after a lot of looking (Lady York Foods).
According to the label the " apples" are " cabbages" aka " Krautköpfe ". Well, what else would you expect from a German carriage ? :) Love from Germany.
I love marbles! Most were made in my state. I had a big collection but while moving, someone stole them! I only have 6 that are way old. As a teacher, I'd take mine to school and during inside recess, I'd draw a chalk circle and teach my students how to play marbles. Sadly that was then. Would they care now? Doubt it.
I am so curious about the market for model trains. My gut would tell me that it's a diminishing market as the people who collect them are likely on the older side and there are less of them around to spend money on trains every year.
Never expected to see a bookbinding press on your channel! I bought mine 20 years ago. You can also use the press for relief printmaking. Do you ever come across letterpress printing equipment, type or blocks?
I’ve no idea what a reasonable price for an old book press is, but I was very excited when I recently saw one for sale (in the uk)….until I saw the price tag was £600. To me, that was not reasonable and it stayed in the antique shop! So I continue to just use a stack of other books to add weight when I’m bookbinding haha
