If you get the chance I cannot recommend highly enough going to a ween show you absolutely will not regret it. I went to my first 2 just yesterday and the day before, best nights of my life !!!
Yeah this was in '03 across 2 nights. Another fan fav. is The Final Alarm by Ween(the public access tv video from '97) and they both do a little guitar solo, Gener 1st(singer) then Deaner does his at the end. As you will see they love playing music and have to much fun.
Billy Strings reactions brought me here, but I'm staying for Ween. Easily one of the best bands no one has heard of. They can take any genre of music and put their stamp on it (seriously, they made a country album without a single "skip it" song). Like others have said, Ween likes to toy with genres, poking fun at the absurdities and idiosyncrasies of them, but they do it from a place of respect. Their creative spins on rock, funk, country, punk, pop, etc take elements of those different styles and make them uniquely their own. I do not say this lightly, Ween may be the best band ever. Most great bands play their own style, but Ween can play anyone's style in only the way Ween can play it. Their adaptability makes them unique unlike anyone else. Listen to more Ween, ANY Ween, and you won't regret it.
Thanks for thoughts on Ween. What I have heard so far hasn't really grabbed me, I'm always open, but most of my leisure listening is pretty far from what I do on the channel.
@@GuitarSoloReactions Ween is basically 2 bands. Live Ween is very much in the vein of live Zeppelin. Really over the top, theatrical performances rooted in driving rock. Studio Ween is very experiential and, some may say, just plain weird. Studio Ween takes some easing into, but once you get over the initial shock their musical talents really shine through. For reactions, I'd suggest pretty much anything from the Live in Chicago DVD this video comes from. Voodoo Lady, I'll be Your Johnny on th' Spot, Dr. Rock, or their cover of All of My Love. Deaner's guitar chops really shine on the first two suggestions, as he has 4-5 minute improvised solos in both (can't tell you how many times I've seen those songs at a show, but they never sound the same twice).
Oh with ween there is that often a comedic edge, sometimes not at all and sometimes totally comedic. But often it’s in between with aspects of humour poking fun at the naturally melodramatic nature of rock music.
