      yep, i avoid tents that don’t display prices as i don’t like the tactic of being forced to ask as then it makes it (purposely) more awkward if you decide not to buy. or if you were just curious but don’t end up wanting anything. it just creates bad vibes and i ain’t about it.

    tbh at cons it can be tricky too cus some small artist stuff is similar or the same theme as other tables and if someone already got that type of item at 2 other booths, wont buy it at urs.
    when i went in june to boston fan expo, a lot of the artist alley was the same kind of items even if they were small creators

      @gilbertdauterive yes you have to pay to set up.a booth at a fair or market Prices vary by event usually ranging from ~$50 cheapest- $250 or more it's kimdof a gamble whether or not you make enough profit so I recommend doing a lot of research beforehand if you plan on being a vendor at a vendor event

    How do you deal with theft? Having all these little cards and stickers for each person to browse make it easy to grab

    • @beanerb822
      @beanerb822 3 месяца назад +14

      It's actually very easy, for my family at least. You can't just sit down and wait for customers to talk to you. Standing up and greeting people let's them know your present and aware(which will make a thief rethink). Also I find this just creates a really welcoming environment for the customers to want to know about you. And it's important to ask questions about your customers! If you just sit and don't acknowledge this can come off as very rude to most people. For some reason I've been in so many booths where people DONT greet you and it pretty much means I'm not going to buy something, I'm a paying customer, I deserve attention 🤣 unless of course your attention is already on another person

    • @lawson6267
      @lawson6267 3 месяца назад +7

      @@beanerb822 The whole greeting thing is very culturally dependant imo. Someone greeting everyone like that would be more likely to chase people away where I live ^^'

    • @AlottaBoulchit
      @AlottaBoulchit 3 месяца назад +3

      @@beanerb822 You had me up until you started the faith stuff. Shoehorning your faith into every conversation is a sure fire way to drive off folks. You're supposed to live by example and let people come to you to ask why you live so well not throw your faith into people's faces without asking. Why do you think people mock and dislike Jehovah Witnesses so much? Outside of JW being a straight up cult anyway.

    • @beanerb822
      @beanerb822 3 месяца назад

      @@AlottaBoulchit Hey there, could you add the quote of where I said I talk to everyone about Jesus?
      I express this sincerely, Jesus is not ALWAYS in my heart💔 I am a sinner.
      My family has done stained glass for 20 years, and miraculously full-time for 5+!! Being able to do what we love of course means we are faith based, it is a miracle in this world we can provide for a family of 3. My parents bought their first house this month, I am 25 years old.
      This means we do have a small section of stained glass with crosses. But with around 200+ inventory in our booth at once, the Jesus section is very small.
      I would even say that many people don't notice it because our cross inventory grows smaller every year, due to it not being in popular demand in the modern world. Right now we have 4 crosses.
      My job is not to talk to every customer about Jesus, although I think that would be pretty neat! My job is first and foremost to share the story of our stained glass with every customer. Sometimes with 5+ people in our booth, not everyone hears our business story. Then I sell the glass. I ring them up, wrap their items for safe travel. It is overwhelming. We rarely get to talk about Jesus because there is so much going on.
      I would honestly rate my skills as a salesman 6.5 out of 10. I have a lot to learn and many times I'm lazy due to having multiple auto-immune diagnosis (makes me tired). But I do feel knowledgeable and equipped to handle any situation, and I set up and run our booth alone often.
      I hope my testimony was not written in vain, that you could actually learn from my experience. If you are starting your business or have been running a business too, I hope it is successful for you to keep going. Sincerely, a broken human🙌

    Also your *PRICES* were *LABELED!* If I have to ask how much something costs, I'm immediately leaving. The likelyhood that a product will overcome my social anxiety, my programming of "it's not labeled, that means its incredibly expensive," and now my personal distaste for the seller, is near impossible.
    An no, verbally telling me the price of everything I look at isn't any better, I've had a few vendors do that in the past and I leave their booth even faster lmao. It feels so pressure-y and it's way too much input, it's overwhelming to the max. Especially since I can’t remember numbers at all so the second you say it it's out of my brain lmao.
    Also my "personal distaste for the seller" bit might just be a me thing, but leaving prices unlabeled or unclear just makes me feel like the seller is a bad person. I'm not sure exactly why but it's an immediate red flag for me on a personal level lol. But that does mean I'll make a mental note of the artist and always avoid them from there on out, even online.
    Of course I'll never be mean, just politely wander off. But no, I don't know what my problem is hahaha
