Indeed though I do have some criticism for this issue but I know she'll do better thn jr
I really like the design. And I think, getting him away from royal duties is a good way to expand his character.

@@truthseeker215 The Image of King isn’t what’s missing with T’challa nor is it as impactful on his character “, the truth is T’challa has been undersold in terms of powers for years, That’s where they have truly limited him, even if he isn’t with a crown temporarily, he wouldn’t look so bad in the eyes of many if they actually portrayed him in a powerful way and by powerful I mean what he can do as a Superhero, who he can take down on a consistent basis what type of threat do people expect BP to handle like it was his bread and butter. Basically he should have been shown on a frequent basis handling top tier threats so people know he isn’t just hype but Actually a kickass superhero in any situation.
IMO they have not sold him in that regards well enough.
If people doubt that he can even beat guys like Spidey or Wolvie it already shows how undersold he has been, it also shows they(Marvel writers whoever is in charge) have not kept attributes+tools that a guy as intelligent as him should constantly be equipped with. Wether that be his Mind or his gear. 🙂

I'll never read the Black Panther again.
I like street level heroes, they're actually my favorite type of heroes. It's just to me Black Panther is not street level. While I did read his man without fear run, I believe characters like Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Daredevil and so on are more fitted for that. I know Luke Cage is the NYC mayor in the comics now, but they completely canceled his 50th anniversary series. Oh well. I'm old now so as long as it's good I'm fine with it. Maybe my son or nephew will get into the series.
I agree 100%. Black panther is a international, super-science and supernatural hero and works best in that context. He protects more than a city. Way to limiting for his abilities and status. I avoided the Liss run because it did not make sense like the Ridley run. This Ewing run makes sense based on the previous run. I don’t know why people are obsessed with BP being Batman when he copied BP with the strategy and tactics. Remember his first introduction. Nuff said.
T’challa has too much potential on paper to be street level. It doesn’t make sense in-Character for a guy like him to limit himself that hard.

@@jms7265 agreed though that's only due to his suit and magical artifacts such as the god tiger mode which is above Galactus, and he did help take down Ameth during thorns run. I was just talking about his base power lvl, and even though we don't know how strong Ameth was its safe to assume she was city or country lvl
I’m sorry they need to separate the black panther in the Batman comparison and I think the best way to do that is by showing off the black panthers powers he’s literally connected to a god shouldn’t he share that God’s power
Right, he can communicate with the past BP and even control dead ppl. He can summon spiritual weapons and his strength, reflexes are on pare with spiderman.

Why not have it where he can summon spiritual panthers, after life transport (well he kinda did that) being able to purity soul or absorb spiritual energy

I love how Eve says she is going back to the core of T'challa.. Love the art . My favorite thing about any black panther series has to be how the artist will depict Wakanda.. Love how T'challa is sticking to the idea of protecting his people and also how far the two have become in terms of familiarity.. Liked the design of the female we got at the end. Great first issue

@@DarkChyld333 this series is taking the same route as tge man without fear, palutting T'Challa in space and ruling the empire while giving Shuri a permanent role as queen of Wakanda is a better change and direction

@@ampocalypsew3883 nope. That's the mantle .. It's akin to asking if Batman core is being a vigilante. Both are huge aspects of the characters but there are still people behind their masks.

Sounds interesting but i think T'Challa should put the Dora Milaje and everyone else in there place. But i see this being a great run with Black Panther doing street level stuff.
I'm with you on that. TChalla needs to run fades with everyone who's wrong him. But so far it's not the way to go for him.
@@BigReuben97 what they really need to do is put T'Challa in space idk why they stop that, and have it where the ppl of wakanda really needs him but he doesn't come. Granted Shuri will step up to be queen, and we can still have T'Challa come to earth nut he's helping other blk ppl and perhaps burning T'chaka but not the golden city. Once T'Challa is ruling his empire we need the explanation of how vibranium got to earth, how it was form, and the many definitions of vibranium seeing as it's on its place of origin. Expand the citizens of the empire and even introduce other mutants of wakanda besides gentle.

Blerd let me just say this, if any writer decided to change or retcon what john ridley did it would be great. Though i have full confidence that Eve is going to make T'Challa the hero and king for wakanda once again, im just tired of the same hes like batman and making him a less powerful. T'Challa is on the same level of strength as spiderman and intelligence as ironman, yet ppl keep thinking hes a batman rip off.

He's not on the same level with Spiderman. He is better than Spiderman and Ironman.

Wakanda use to be the top of society, the black panther storm relationship use to be the one we could all look to like superman and lois, but every year its like a writter looks at black panther and says FUCK it, its tooo nice, LOOOL like its not america, its Wakanda, why can;t they just be great #MakeWakandaGreatAgain loool they seem so determined to bring Black panther back down to ground, it's like they don't actually no how to write a healthy rich black man, from a rich black kingdom and its quite sad

Controversy sells! lol Shaking things up and eliciting that shock value is the easiest way to make a compelling story. It's been done a gazillion times. Tony Stark got torn down, Bruce Wayne got torn down, Angel, Oliver Queen, etc. Even the "not so" wealthy heroes who were at the top got broken down and reduced to even less than what has been done to T'challa.
On the other hand, keeping him a healthy rich black man from a rich black kingdom would be the same as keeping Iron Man or Batman a rich white guy from a rich white family. After awhile it becomes the same story over and over. What's T'challa supposed to do? Just fight Wakanda's enemies daily and stay on the Avengers speed dial? lol
I disagree we just seen an amazing run of X-Men going multi planet, before these comics Black panther was king of numerous worlds LOL there is no way this is as interesting, also this isn't stripping black panther down, it's stripping the whole of wakanda, Gotham will always be a shit hole, metropolis always a nice city wakanda has changed up it's origin so many times, they don't do that to Atlantis, or the X-Men they even have democracy in wakanda now for no real reason, he's apposed to his dora, before this story there was multiple wakanda new teams fighting there no way this is a controversy that sells well lol we seen this before in this video a lone it's stated this is back to the time where they did this with daredevil we seen this before LOL
@@micahleng-adams9084 Well, the last time we saw this happen (as per the daredevil example from the video) was like a decade ago. Frequency, recency bias, consistency all factor in. Just because something happens more than once doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing or won't be compelling. On that same note doesn't mean it will work out either! lol
That said, my initial statement wasn't to say that it would work or that it is a good reason. I was just saying this is why writers often go that route: Because it's easy to do! And again that doesn't necessarily validate the ideas.
Now keep in mind what's interesting to some isn't interesting to all. But one thing you can never get wrong with writing is the "underdog" trope because it will always work. Even if you or I don't like what's going on with Black Panther, there will always be people that want to see the "titans fall". There will always be people that want to see the hero "rise" or be "reborn".
That all said, yeah Gotham will always be Gotham but you know how mantimes Metropolis has been destroyed? lol Atlantis isn't even really relevant except to serve as a setting, backdrop, and occasional narrative vehicle for Aquaman. The focus is 90% of the time on him and less than a handful of Atlanteans. By contrast, Wakanda IS Black Panther and Black Panther IS Wakanda. So separating the two invokes your exact respone from several people, just like killing off Wolverine the first time or how fighter's hype up fights. That's the selling point: You may hate it but you're gonna come to the show to see how it goes down! lol

I very much enjoyed the Batman-iness of this issue, I'm curious if it'll carry through the whole run or if Eve Ewing has a swerve coming in the story!

I haven’t read anything BP since Coates so maybe I’ll give this a try and hopefully he and Storm can have a child..a son who is dedicated to his father’s kingdom and not the X-Men or Avengers and verify that Kymera is their daughter as well

Told my shop to put this in my box. Haven't picked up Black Panther since Coates and towards the end of that was just out of collector mentality. I love T'Challa. He is best as a grounded character and her run on Iron heart is underrated.
Nailed it when you brought up "Street Level Hero"
It would make sense for T'Challa to have resources setup in covert areas throughout Wakanda in case he ever needed them, especially since he's been removed from power in the past. At 1st, I wonder why he doesn't have any state of the art tech hidden for safe keeping. But considering he's illegally in Wakanda at this time, using such tech would draw too much attention to him.
I don't see why he doesn't have all of his tech in his empire, or with ppl he can truly trust. Like Dr. Thunderbolt, Luke Cage, Misty knight, Gentle, or even Reed Richard

Looking at this new female character is the reason why I think that Marvel Legends needs to have a permanent comic book version of a Black Panther line just like Spider-Man, X-Men, and Fantastic 4.
Right, like start off with a Bible for BP and it's lore. Focus on blk topic and struggles for T'Challa to actually fix and elevated not just wakanda but every blk person in the marvel world, and set up nations who want to take down wakanda due to them remaining too powerful. Doing so making new and interesting villians, ones that are not always black ppl
This comic was ridiculously boring. Comic book writers like Bendis (now Eve) need to realise that this is a comic book, not a novel. It was too long winded and the city felt less like Africa and more like some city in the US, even down to the clothing. This extremely tiresome story line of "deconstructing" characters need to end. How many times does a rich comic book character need to loose their wealth/company, just for another writer to come in and give it back, just for another writer to take it all away again, like they think it's some ground breaking plot that hasn't been done a dozen times before. Same for Kings like BP and Aquaman, how many times have they lost their thrones? I love BP, one of my all time favourite characters, I love his brilliance, his regality, I love him being a KING! Not some street level fighter like Daredevil. Reading this issue literally took effort, after half way through, started skipping most of the dialog, I got bored and annoyed. Wont be reading issue 2.
