Really helpful video, the little metal spring clip is missing from the right hand side, you can see the left and bottom metal clips are present at around 2:08, ive had the same issue with replacing the gaiter clip, my metal clips were missing at the time of repair and couldn't clip my replacement. Just incase anyone has the same issue.

No. Don't put a replacement metal clip in the hole on the right side. I just made that mistake and it turns out the hole on the right is smaller than the other two holes. With a metal clip in there the plastic ring will not fit.

    Ditch the music, very distracting.

Does that elastic strip spring the gearstick back to centre after you take it out of gear ?

I *think* it may be to (help?) pull the reverse-selector back down? Anyone?

Thanks for this, very helpful! Also, this video: ruclips.net/video/IhBXvIFg8BI/видео.html
I discovered a couple of things that might be helpful to know. On my Fiat 500 (late '09 UK version), the elasticated piece is attached to the gear-stick - and also holds the gaiter to the gear-stick - with a cable/zip-tie. It was easier to cut this (carefully!) to attach the new elasticated piece with a new cable-tie (rather than cut the plastic as per this video, and perhaps weaken it?). I also found that my gaiter had become twisted and had moved up the gear-stick (it's been broken for a looong time! :o). I probably exacerbated the problem when doing the cable-tie thing! This makes lining up the holes in the gaiter more difficult and also put the tabs under too much tension when trying to clip them in. I managed to twist it back into place and downward, though this would have been easier if I'd spotted this whilst the cable-tie was off, and cutting another one seemed wasteful(!).
    HTHs? :o)
