    Wangnan's speech about him being worse than the lurker is about being a better person, he admits that he would also kill and do bad things to climb the tower but he was also able to forgive and break the cycle of revenge, basically he looked into the abyss and was able to avoid the temptation of being bad and try to improve as a person to be the ideal king he wants to be

    PLEASE READ THIS TO CLARIFY CONFUSIONS 😁
    6:07
    Nia, Prince and Kim Lurker (loan shacks) had nothing to do with FUG. Kim just had Nia hinder Regulars and cause them to fail the tests on the 20th floor. That way, the Regulars end up borrowing money from Prince's family business.
    Last episode, what Love was referring to was that a recently inducted FUG slayer (Karaka), who you haven't met, was given an assignment by FUG during one of his floor tests. He could either:
    - kill a particular Regular during the test; or
    - help a particular Regular pass the test; or
    - cause all the Regulars to fail the test
    Basically, FUG is very anti-Jahad (and against the current political powers in the Tower) and they have their own agendas, which you will learn more of as the show progresses. Hope this helped to clarify things.
    Wangnan is not a FUG member, but apparently FUG has some agenda/scheme that involves him (unknown to Wangnan himself). The ring that Wangnan wears has the symbol of Jahad, but we're yet to find out why he has the ring, etc.
    Viole is a member of FUG, but he is currently trying to become a Slayer (a higher rank than a typical FUG minion); so he is a Slayer Candidate*. He might get different FUG assignments (just like Karaka, who is now officially a Slayer) while he is climbing the Tower and taking tests.
    14:17
    Augusgus actually said, "he's [Viole] gained new allies", not new ABILITIES 😂
    But your intuition was right, Augusgus is involved with FUG; basically, FUG has members scattered across the Tower, possibly including Floor/Test Administrators as you've seen.
    19:56
    Yes, you're right. Wangnan basically realized that the Tower puts people in situations where they feel like they have no choice but to be conniving, duplicitous or even straight up murderous in order to achieve their dreams (of climbing the Tower in the first place). So, basically, he's saying that he will do whatever it takes to get to the top, so that he can re-write the rules of the Tower. So he "forgave" Lurker because he knows he might be guilty of employing the same tactics sometime in the future, in order to climb the Tower (and achieve his dreams of changing the rules of the Tower). It's kinda deep, but also kinda silly 😂😂. Why not just not climb the tower, right? 😂
    I loved your analysis of the paradox of Wangnan's idealism, it's very naive. The fact that he doesn't realize that his mindset and his beliefs will be changed by the very journey of climbing, and he might not be able to reconcile what his initial goals were with where he is when he gets to the top of the Tower. But let's see how the show progresses, don't sleep on my boy 😊.

    I'm going to try and fill in some missing scenes, a lot of stuff skipped again, but a few of them were more tastefully changed then just skipped entirely.
    Originally the parasite duo offered Prince a drink that supposedly boosted Shinsu Resistance, aka help with the freeze move, Prince doesn't trust them though and leaves to give it to Yeon. The duo knew this would happen however and likely actually drops her resistance so they could take over her body. (Another little fact, the reason there's 2 of them and not disqualified for not having someone in their room is because there's actually a third, and the Parasite dude is actually a creature being controlled from a long distance.) From here however now prince is being hunted by the possessed Yihwa, which leads into them being Outside prince's room, he gets his remote out to lock it, and from there you see the rest. Overall not really needed, this corner im okay with skipping as this would have taken up easily a fourth of the screen time.
    They skipped over as well that Baam/viole is much more talented beyond the freezing technique, as he can use 2 Bangs from a distance (Simply think of it as a source you can use Shinsu from, so when you see a person blasting with shinsu it's from their bang. This is also likened to being able to use another arm and the more you have usually shows how talented you are/your mastery of shinsu.) as well as the Blue shield, and breaker, there was another move they didn't really show at all called slider which, to be fair isn't really shown again so its okay they glanced over it but saddens me regardless. This also leads to Love trying to give Viole a way out as he's so talented and he wanted him to use his talent for good that he'd let him pass even though the connector was in his hand and easily crushable as long as he took a team with him. This is when Wagnan comes in and basically does what he did in the anime. Though in this he threw the connector to Baam, signifying his win. Luckily despite not actually agreeing to this deal Baam goes through with it.
    What's really cut is exactly what happened with Nia Lurker and Wagnan. Lurker actually explained first how their company basically owns the restaurant Nia works for, and how that's how they find runaway customers like Wagnan. Basically the Pocket they use is a phone, and no one really changes their phone, so despite dropping under their radar, changing address (Basically what Wagnan did) they'll find you cause you make an order with your pocket and get caught cause you give them your new address when you order Delivery. The free coupon Nia gave him was also a trap cause if he failed again, ran away, he'd more likely then not use that coupon and get tracked again. This not being explained, also fine cause plot wise, not the most important, but Nia's death was much more dark, in the manhwa you have 2 entire panels of the Pocket just hovering there broadcasting Nia's screaming and the simple word "stab" in bright red decorating the black text box of Nia screaming. This follows through with everyone's silent reaction as Nia's screams stop but the stabbing doesn't. The scene while accurate didn't do this scene justice IMO. This also ends the chapter with the arcs name different from what it had been, from The Trustworthy room to The Room That Cannot Be Trusted for that single chapter.
    The Test is also basically ignored, the rule never really mattered in the anime as none of the technicalities were really shown of how close Team Lurker was to winning, and how desperate our crew was, this is just a headache to explain so even I'm gonna skip that explanation. What's really a shame is how Viole actually dogged on the parasite, after ripping it out of Yihwa he slammed in against the wall splattering it. The scene with Teddy (devils right arm) was done perfectly other then him telling Robdevil never to tell anyone what he saw as he begged for mercy.
    Overall, that's all fine, the big thing however is how they all passed, Wagnan actually tricked Viole here, he didn't throw Viole the connector that Love had that would let him pass alone, rather he threw him HIS connector, so when Viole went to plug it in and pass, he actually plugged Wagnan's connector into his remote, clearing the win condition that Viole and Yihwa's room were the last to be taken. There's so much more minor details and stuff with a lot of impact, but this is already gone on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long already.

    • @jonathonpolk3592
      @jonathonpolk3592 2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, the only change they made that I thought was a mistake was omitting the fact that Wangnan tricked Viole. That omission alters Viole's character because it makes him more apathetic about the fate of his other teammates. And given his prior vehement refusals to team up, them suddenly passing just makes no sense. They just pass, and that's it...? Hopefully they will explain it next ep.

    • @baamthetwenty-fifthnight6753
      @baamthetwenty-fifthnight6753 2 месяца назад +2

      @@jonathonpolk3592 I hope so too, but not only does it mischaracterize Viole it also doesn't portray how crafty and actually smart Wagnan is for thinking of this strategy. They also did show Wagnan grabbing his connector before leaving too, so it's not like they couldn't have done a quick flash to that, and a line or two to say something like "It worked!" or "He fell for it!" to make people realize something happened

      @@baamthetwenty-fifthnight6753 There is a few rules that don't make sense in the webtoon and make sense in the anime, none of the characterization is lost in either one
      The rules say
      To steal a room, insert your own connector into the remote and press the red button.
      To get a new teammate insert your own connector into the remote and press the blue button
      The problem with all this, we never see which button Viole presses. not in the anime or the webtoon. In both versions, if Viole presses the blue button, the result is the same
      This trickery is just unnecessary, because the result is just the same either way
      Kinda like the bath scene was unnecessary in the anime, since all the bath scene in the webtoon showed was Viole threatening Robdevil for fighting Hatz. This scene in the webtoon was supposed to make us doubt whether Viole killed Robdevil or not, but it was just unnecessary in my opinion

    • @baamthetwenty-fifthnight6753
      @baamthetwenty-fifthnight6753 2 месяца назад

      @@Pickyfan-wr2eg The only rule that makes sense in the anime is the one they skipped. I'll give you the rule of having one person in the room as between what robdevil and Teddy feel conflicted but to say it makes sense in the anime is asinine.
      Pressing the blue button would also not give the same result as this is entirely reliant on which connector he has. The trickery was absolutely necessary for this, and to say the bath scene only serves that is just plain wrong.
      It shows you how different Teddy's body is
      Shows that Akraptor and Teddy might not mind being labeled Anti-jahad
      Even as minor as it may seem they help build these Characters, especially just the Chit-chat that forms the teams dynamic. You've abandoned character building to move the plot faster. Everything they've cut has degraded the quality of the characters and tone.

    • @Pickyfan-wr2eg
      @Pickyfan-wr2eg 2 месяца назад

      @@baamthetwenty-fifthnight6753 pressing the blue button definitely would give the same result any way you see it
      Whether he had Wangnan's controller or Viole.
      From Violes point of view, the two options were, accept teammates (blue button )or pass the test alone ( red button)
      The only real variable is whether Viole pressed the red or blue button, which we never see in the anime or Webtoon.
      The game is already unnecessarily complicated to add in the trickery
      Also none of that degraded any of their characters.
      Their small characters arcs were all shown perfectly in the anime. Akraptors relationship with his daughter and Miseng was spot on
      Horyang moment with his right arm as well. He will have his own arc later in the season.

    Just a few infos:
    - The loan sharks had nothing to do with FUG. They just wanted Nia to hinder the regulars for business.
    - Viole is part of FUG, his title is "Slayer candidate"
    - Ja Wangnan is not part of FUG
    - The crest on Ja Wangnan's ring is the Jahad crest. The crest on Viole's clothing is the FUG crest.
    - In the webtoon, the test supervisor doesn't say "Ja Wangnan has passed as FUG wishes". He says something along the lines of "The prince (of Jahad) has passed as FUG wishes", with it being ambiguous to this day whether he's referring to Ja Wangnan or Viole.

    So I was told by a webtoon reader that the last scene with the Test Director (Agusgus?) he didn't say Ja Wangnan's name at all (in the webtoon), he said "The prince has passed, as FUG wishes". Which still leaves it vague as to whom he is refering to (since we don't know who this Prince of Zahard is).
    Now I wonder if the writers messed up that line and understood it wrong, or if the people making the subtitles are the ones that understood it wrong... I say this because Wangnan's original name (the Korean one, Ja Wangnan) is "I am prince" in Korean ("Nan wangja"), but with the words/ letters in the wrong order; and because of this the Japanese translated name is Ouji Naru which is literally "Become prince" without the words being disordered. So maybe the subtitles folks heard the Japanese word "Ouji" ("Prince") and assumed they were talking about Wangnan?

      @@deusex17kkfkdklsl19 I know. My comment is precisely saying that the webtoon (and thus the author) is purposefully leaving it vague, or at least so I have been told. But the anime decided to say a name instead, basically dispelling any vagueness or mystery, which seems weird if the author didn't do such a thing in the first place... So I was just wondering if it was some sort of mistake by someone in the anime adaptation and/ or the people making the subtitles or what?

    Wangnan not killing Lurker was exactly because he did not want to be a hypocrite who kills because he's hurt like Lurker does.
    However, even if it's not out of revenge or spite, he acknowledges he will probably need to kill people simply to climb the tower and achieve his goals.
    Although it's not for the same reasons, both his kills and Lurker's kills can be seen as "It's nothing personal, that's just how it goes in the Tower.". Because of his guilty conscience he hopes that him forgiving Lurker here will make it more likely that his future victims won't hold it against him personally. Just a coping mechanism that drew him to this choice aside from wanting to break the cycle of revenge/spite killing.
