- In this video I head out with just my dog Chester, on a solo duck hunt. The temperatures have dropped and I didn't have time to scout but get lucky with my decision to head to a small river and have an absolutely awesome duck hunt.

Love hunting those small creeks after a freeze up.
One of the best ways to do it!
Thank you!
It's refreshing to see a good hunter doing it right!
No aggressive gangbangers framming away at anything that flies by.
One shot, one duck! I wish more of the RUclips Hunting Heroes would get a clue and a grip on what's up!
I've been hunting for almost 40 years and have seen a decline in hunter's style, ethics & methods.
You sir, are what all new hunter's should watch. Patience, being selective and knowing your targets and limitations!
Also, good job Chester! Not a "robo dog", but a companion who loves his job!
Thanks again!
Thank you, I appreciate that.
@@AbandonOutdoors not to highjack ya, but where are you located?
I transplanted myself to the PNW last year from Fla. First to NoCal where I hunted on a mountain lake in the Sierras (w/ a lot of birds to myself) and this season in coastal Washington. I've hunted out here before and that's why I returned.
I'm a solo hunter (b/c I'm very selective with my birds and my partners). I appreciate good hunters like you and have little tolerance for knuckleheads.
Now that the season is about to close, the enthusiasm will wane for many, but for me, it's time to start getting involved w/ planning on networking, post season scouting, learning more about the area, meeting the officials who make the regulations and getting involved w/ conservation projects, etc.
Have you considered producing videos that address proper techniques, ethics, education, etc.?
@@wilesdukedubose4431 I am located in SW Idaho. It would be a good idea to make such videos. I do get so sick of people acting like hunting is a competition. I’ve actually made some friends by just inviting them to hunt with me when I meet them at a public parking lot before a hunt. I lived in South Dakota for a long time and shot many ducks and geese there and now I really enjoy these unique and beautiful spots in the west. I turkey hunted Northern California this spring and really want to try waterfowling there soon!
@@AbandonOutdoors I'd like to follow you post season and possibly introduce you to some others, who do it right.
Check out Nate Verdin w/ "Falling Tide TV". He's out of Louisiana.
@@wilesdukedubose4431 Sounds good, I’ll check it out for sure!
Hey buddy, this is the first video that I’ve found of yours and it was fantastic. Short, to the point, plenty of feeling, great shooting - both camera and gun. Subscribed. You got me wanted to go out west and do the same thing!
Thanks man! It was a special morning!
Agreed
That was a great video - great dog work- really good shooting
Thank you!
Very nice! You did it the right way & appreciate your sportsmanship. Enjoyed seeing your Golden Retreiver. You mostly see labs on all the other shows. Continued success. Not sure where you are in the West.
Thank you! I am located in Idaho.
@@AbandonOutdoors Just watched another hunt on the small warm water creek. Fun x’s with your two friends. I hunt in Northern Utah. Plus, my hometown in NE. Just got back 3 days ago. Love the different types of hunting. UT-marsh; NE-warm water sloughs. Continued best!
Awesome hunt man !! Keep this up and your channel will blow up. Wish we had birds like this down south 😂
Thanks man!
Very cool hunt. Beautiful spot and I love to see the dog having fun.
Unbelievable hunt. Thanks for sharing. I wish the southeast had duck like that. Your dog and shooting was on point 👉
Thank you!
Fantastic hunt man my kind of setup. Far more enjoyable to watch than one more bro fest 25 limits in 20 minutes video.
Thank you! One of my favorite hunts by far!
Nice C&S! Truly enjoyed the solo video. 👍🏼
Thank you!
Great hunt, looked like a blast!
Mate thats a working golden retriever right? I was so excited to see him! I am a fan of both of you from now on
Yes he is! He’s a good dog, thank you!
Got my sub. Great video man
Thanks!
Pretty Hunt. Keep it up.
Thank you!
Cool hunt. I’m sure I’ll run across you someday. We hunt some the same areas. I hunt solo most of the time.
Yep, awesome day! Questions; What camera and lens are you using? What is that nasty sounding call you have? I like it, it's crisp, raspy and loud (the loud may be due to it's proximity to the mic).
Thank you! Camera I am using is a canon XA50 camcorder, just the built in lense. Call is a C&S custom calls “preacher” it is very loud and definitely my favorite single reed duck call.
@@AbandonOutdoors damn fine work Sir.
dead eye jones
What call are you running? Sounds like a cut down
C and S Custom Calls Preacher, really like the volume.
@@AbandonOutdoors no kidding man, thing is sharp and raspy as hell
