- well, after doing a horrible midline fleet I felt like i needed to get actual good footage or else the veterans will hunt me down, so here is mediocre footage with my build for my actual favorite ship in the game.
Ziggurat is able to solo even the biggest fleets, but I usually go with max range lances and 2-4 heavy needlers to remove shields. The build is like an integrated targeting unit, phase anchor, optics, max dissipation. Small slots left empty, not enough OP and flux vent for them anyway.
Yeah, that's probably more responsible then my build, but strike ships are fun

One of my favorite builds was getting the piloting skills that made high levels of hard flux boost your armor and energy damage, paired with nothing but beam weapons that had the one mod that significantly reduced range in return for them being able to deal hard flux damage.
It was able to wade into close combat while practically edging the flux meter right below overload and was able to effectively destroy anything.
Very fun.

as someone who has used the ziggy, I can confirm. That due to the sheer killing efficiency, the Ziggurat's biggest weakness is.....

Actually I think Starsector was the perfect choice for starting, there's a fairly large audience without an oversaturated amount of content
It is for the best. The devs did note it's not on Steam because they are not prepared to handle a userbase volume beyond what they can manage.
I can respect knowing their limits, particularly when their focus is working on balancing while building up the systems.
Just started playing Starsector again after the new game update...RUclips recommended this channel to me...not bad...not bad at all...

The biggest flex in the whole video is taking out the Monitors.
Ziggurat is good in vanilla starsector, in modded it's okay. Phase Ships overall have been Nerfed, Doom class why.
Wasn't it because the merchants guild endorsing the doom class ship.
@@tachi1034 No. The Doom class specifically received a Nerf, that reduced its ships system range which is what made it good. On top of the already brutal phase coil stress. Which reduces phase ships top speed by 66%. 50% is still brutal but more reasonable. And yes that also includes the phase Capitalship.
afflictor with 3 antimatter blasters is stronger than ever, shade is ok, harbinger is dead, doom is ok. I guess. Redacted is even stronger with the anchor.
But honestly manually piloted afflictor is able to obliterate medium fleet on its own, or heavily cripple large fleet.
Ziggy with 2 Rift Cascade Emitters, 6 Antimatter SRM's, and 4 Resonator MRM's just kills everything in the game, especially with Phase Anchor, ITU and AO, and the Fire Control and Gunnery Implant Skills. Can solo a large fleet without any help at all.
Rift Cascades are good but I prefer Tachyon, I also don't use missles for extra flux
Any Tipps for the Ziggurat fight? I heard that fielding a lot of wide-arc frigates could work.
Quantity vs quality, get a lot of frigates for it to destroy and have a lot of guns to keep it phased so it overloads, then the capitals will destroy it

@@Stonecargo21 Managed to defeat it, mostly by buying multiple Tempests and some other fodder. Still lost about 13 ships, though most were the disposable frigates.
Currently kitted the Ziggurat with 4x Phase and 2x Tachyon Lances, small slots have Tactical lasers.
Only drawback so far seems to be the rather slow speed. Though I haven't had any actual combat with it.
@@kingskelett6265 sounds about right for a first time, I would recommend destroyers next time
1 paragon full beam lasers, 3 to 5 omens, 1 harbinger with reapers/anti matter piloted.

Can someone tell me how to use ziggurat? If I let the ai use it it just goes in and out of phase until it dies
I recommend phase anchor and a lot of vents, pretty much no capacitors. Also strike weapons work really well, such as antimatter blasters (be careful, I've killed myself countless times with ship explosion radius) and in my current game I switched out the tachyon lances for Gigacannons, though that's personal preference
Fly it yourself. The AI is terrible with phase ships unless they've got a lot of allies and can outmaneuver the enemy.

Maybe I'll get something to increase the difficulty but the only things I do have are just some custom textures I put in myself, nothing that effects gameplay

@@friendlyfire3412 There is a nascent gravity well NE of Hybrasil I believe, you can only reach it by having the "Transverse Jump" skill and using it from Hyperspace to enter the system. The Galatia Science Academy quest line will eventually lead you there, it usually starts for me by finding a probe while out surveying... but I THINK you can skip that step and just go straight there and ask to speak to the Provost. Galatia Academy is in the starter system.
