Bon-chan is still alive and is shown to be the new leader of level 5.5 in one of the cover stories. It is not included in the anime as of yet if I remember correctly.
My head canon on how that happened is that magellan couldnt spend too much time dealing with bonkurei as he had to take a shit and deal with the bigger problem of blackbeard
In my heart Bon-chan is one of the strawhats. He would 100% join Luffy crew if he manage to escape together.
I remember litteraly crying when I first watched this episode. In my language, Straw-chan was translated to 'my lil' straw', which made the bond and separation hurt even deeper... 😭

Whoever decided that the warlords were a good idea and that they're allowed to enter there set him up for failure
Only fk up on their part is not knowing that level 5.5 was a thing
Warlords are not allowed to enter Impel Down. Blackbeard forced himself in and Hancock's was an exception after being checked, using Kairoseki handcuffs and be escorted by Magellan himself.
Like the boys said, it was an extremely unfortunate combination of circumstances:
Luffy getting in, Ivankov and his revolutionaries being already in and in a position to fight, Buggy and Mr. 3 freeing almost all prisoners in levels 1-2, Blackbeard sneaking in and Shiryu turning on Magellan to join him, most of the marines already preparing for a fight with Whitebeard... it was completely understandable that the gaol staff was unprepared.

The greatest display of friendship and loyalty
Jimbei can’t control sea kings, he can just talk to whale sharks. He’s a whale shark fishman, like Hachi is an octopus fishman. The whale sharks are still quite a bit smaller than sea monsters, especially the calm belt sea kings

luffy loves to give nicknames to people or powers, so it's kinda meaningfull when he uses proper names like wax-wax armor
Crocodile is really strong, he just unfortunately faced Luffy 3 times and lost to his only weakness. Similarly to how Enel has probably one of the strongest devil fruits but lost to his only weakness.
There always have a seat in Straw Hats called Bon Clay
rip Bon Clay he really sacrificed everything for the sake of others, just because luffy was willing to call him friend. he was so selfless and optimistic, supportive and helpful in every step along the way especially because he knew luffy was fighting to save his brother. it is unfathomable that a person exists who would really give themselves up like this in order to help someone achieve their goal. He really deserved better than this

I remember watching a diff sub translation where Bon-chan's last words were "no regrets" 😢
its a very similar concept in translation. more transliterally its like "this is my instinct", like what he did was in his blood and natural to him and knew the consequences, almost like an "of course i'm ready to die"
