David Crowder can put such an edge on traditional hymns that really ROCK them! What an amazing artist! Just seen him at Lifest in OshKosh, WI... now a true David Crowder fan!
I ushered a 90 year old friend to his death singing this beautfiul song to him...he needed to hear the lyrics to let go...i sang the original song all 5 stanzas...what a blessing. It says so much....and so meaningful for one about to die and go to glory.
I'm so glad to see the great Christian Bands of today going back to the old hymns. Today's Christian lyrics are so watered down that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is totally absent from what they sing about. Thank you Jesus for David Crowder and his band, that they saw fit to present YOU through this old hymn written by Robert Robinson in 1758. The music by, I think, Asahel Nettleton, added in 1825. You are glorified Lord Jesus and may you continue to be. Amen.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written, and David's version here is the best rendition these ears have ever heard. When my ever-failing and frailed body is, at the time of God's choosing, laid to rest I would hope this song leads the faithful. Jesus' precious blood, shed for the sins of all, is the outpouring and construction of the bridge between us and the heavenly Father.Accept the gift of grace ONLY made possible thru Jesus Christ our redeemer. Thanks for posting this great song!!!
Exactly. That book really helped me develop the idea that, though I don't reject the 'lake of fire and brimstone,' real hell is not physical suffering (at least not alone); it's the knowledge of utter failure and to be wholly without God.
This song Woke my shriveled, neglected soul up!! Praise god jesus sought me, when a stranger, he sought me? me the same person who put him on the backburner for 6 years? yes me Ohh my GOD thank you for you abounding grace i pray that you use me to your will and not my own help me with my daily walk? Prone wander prone to leave the God i love here is my heart lord take and seal it for thy courts above. people Jesus is real hehehe that last verse was the key for me :) thank you jesus
i could not say it better myself. paul hits the nail on the head. at least he feels the same way! we are nothing without the Lord I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Romans 7:15
The lyrics are apart of it. So yes I do. I was raised a christian and liked a lot of the praise songs. I just grew up..And the more I looked around the more I saw how messed up life is. And that no one knows anything really. The adults I once admired turned out to be just as clueless as everyone else.
This song rang through my heart and mind as I walked the trail through the forest here in Muskoka Ontario Canada. Thank you for posting this beautiful version of this glorious hymn!
I love this song. David Crowder Band does a beautiful job, and I absolutely LOVE the scottish sound to the musical instruments. Absolutely beautiful. I think God must take great pleasure by man making such beautiful music in his honor.
I really hope that this song plays when I go to heaven. I know it is what will be what I have played at my funeral. When that day comes I want it to be a celebration. :)
what he said is true. except for that everyone needs Jesus. The truth is, that Jesus does not need us, and we do not need him. He Wants us. and we all have to want him too.
Prone to wander Lord I feel, prone to leave the God I love, here's my heart Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thine courts above...such a great verse!!
Yes david sing it and i so love the accent and the guitar playing .Let everything that hath breath praise him , praise him on string instrument..Psalm 150.
this is my favorite hymn ever. period!! and of course david did a wonderful job with it. we sing this during our youth group worship. i am so happy to be part of out worship team. PRAISE GOD!!
HOw true are the words of the song..... "PRONE TO WANDER..LORD I FEEL IT PRONE TO LEAVE THE GOD I LOVE.... HERE'S MY HEART LORD TAKE & SEAL IT.. SEAL IT FOR THY COURTS ABOVE!" Amen.
coming from down-under Sydney, we get exposed to Hillsong music. But when I was in Chicago last month for a conference they played this hymn during worship - awesome tune!
I hope we never forget these amazing hymns. Worship music is good but if you learn the history behind these hymns it is amazing. It seems that worship song come and go but hymns of the Faith are timeless. I hope that young people learn them so that they continue to change lives.
"Prone to wander Lord I feel it Prone to leave the God I love Here's my heart Lord, take and seal it Seal it for Thy courts above" Love it, love it, love it!
Amen. I agree with you. Its sad to even hear christian radio stations playing stuff thats so watered down in fear that they might offend someone or not be accepted.
amazing song! Beautiful use of the Violin. The violin is my fav instrument. It can make you laugh. It can make you cry. It can do every type of music. Used in everything from hymns to hard rock.
That vieo is so powerful and moving. I really enjoyed watching and hearing one of the best voices David Crowder Band, Come Thou Fount of every Blessing
holy is the lord his love endures forever his anger is yet for a moment his joy comes in the morning his kingdom is everlasting and it shalll not be disrupted or destroyed for he is a perfect father amen
LOVE IT my brother is learning to play this by ear on a guitar he is doing great he has nothin else to do because something has left his life that he loved ♥♥♥♥ luv u bro♥♥♥♥
praise God oceanminded916... don't be afraid to ask for help from people who are older in Christ, man. It is really good to get close to God and others who love him
“May that be the desire of our hearts, to lead some soul out of darkness to the light, out of bondage to liberty, to lead some poor wanderer out of the darkness of this world to the blessed Gospel. Amen.” (DL Moody)
Oh my gosh, David sounds about 15 years younger here than he does today... because when he released this album, he was. That's really hard to think about; I was only four years old when this album hit the streets.
This is certainly a great song! I love David Crowder Band, too. It still brings a tear to my eye, no matter what style it is performed in... BUT.... Although, I am FAR from being a Mormon, I have to make a case that although this is a great rendition, I would vote for the youtube clip of the BYU choir singing this, being even better!!!!
Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." All you have to do is read God's word and listen and He will give you faith. Now also it's good to remember that God's promises never fail and that we should be praying the promise not the problem, so if I wanted strength in a certain area of my life I would say "Lord you said you will give me strength, thank you ect." Just trust Him, and let God work in your life by stop thinking about the problem.
I know... unfortunately Petra has "retired". but their music lives on :) I hope we (the new generation) can carry on these powerful hymns... God doesn't care if it's to classical piano make a joyful noise unto the Lord doesn't mean just piano... nothing wrong with electric guitar as long as we praise his name =D
I think we should take the time to gather together as God's church never ceasing in prayer. Could you please pray for me that the glory for the name of Jesus would be the passion of my heart, and that he would bring my lost friends to him for the glory of his name, I know others have the same prayer and I'm willing to do the same. "Prone to wander Lord I feel it Prone to leave the God I love Here's my heart Lord, take and seal it"
For those in the comments that think faith is pointless and we are just wasting our time, please read 1 Corinthians 2:9 ;) I wouldn't die for Christ if I didn't believe in him 100%
I just looked up "Ebenezer" on Wikipedia. It means a memorial established in remembrance of what God has done for a person or a group of people. You learn something new every day! :)
@fowlfeet Very eloquently worded my brother/sister in Christ. The world needs more people like you to remind us about Christ's constant watching over us . :)
@LoneLawMan Do whatever the spirit leads you to! Ecclesiastes 3:4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. This song is overflowing with the power of the spirit, in a world full of contemporary music, I love when people sing hyms, such as this one. In alot of the old hyms the lyrics are so much further scripture based and they are just awesome!
I'll pray for you! Welcome to the family, by the way. I hope you are in a good church, and getting to have fellowship with other Christians on a regular basis. God intends for us to give and receive strength from our brethren in the Lord. When we become Christians, our lives don't become instantly easy. But we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us. You trusted Him for salvation, now trust Him to lead you, and to help you live life as more than a conqueror. He'll provide!
All of us who seek HIM must see ourselves in these lyrics, they are truly inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT.......PRAISE HIM!!!!!!
David Crowder can put such an edge on traditional hymns that really ROCK them! What an amazing artist! Just seen him at Lifest in OshKosh, WI... now a true David Crowder fan!
can you imagine singing THIS 100 gazillion times louder in heaven?!!! can't WAIT!
I ushered a 90 year old friend to his death singing this beautfiul song to him...he needed to hear the lyrics to let go...i sang the original song all 5 stanzas...what a blessing.
It says so much....and so meaningful for one about to die and go to glory.

I'm not a religious person at all but this is an amazing song with a message of love which everyone has to agree is amazing!

This makes me proud to be a christian one of those great songs!
i could not say it better myself. paul hits the nail on the head. at least he feels the same way! we are nothing without the Lord
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. Romans 7:15
Love it! Haters are gonna hate, but when their day comes before the Lord, I hope they can account for these comments. God is Good!
The lyrics are apart of it. So yes I do. I was raised a christian and liked a lot of the praise songs. I just grew up..And the more I looked around the more I saw how messed up life is. This is my "get out of bed" video.
I watch it almost every morning. So good for the soul.
This song rang through my heart and mind as I walked the trail through the forest here in Muskoka Ontario Canada. Thank you for posting this beautiful version of this glorious hymn!
it's music like this that makes you strive to do a whole lot more and glorify God and bring back your brothers and sisters to our Father In Heaven

How great is he for giving this song to us.
I absolutely love this song! It came on today in the car and me, my mom and my sister all started singing along with it. O the memories! :)
what he said is true. except for that everyone needs Jesus. The truth is, that Jesus does not need us, and we do not need him. He Wants us. and we all have to want him too.
God hasn't called me to be successful. He's called me to be faithful.
-Mother Teresa
This song describes all of us, because Im definitely prone to wander from God!
Prone to wander Lord I feel, prone to leave the God I love, here's my heart Lord, take and seal it, seal it for Thine courts above...such a great verse!!

If u read about Robert Robinsons latter life ,the story is so touching,it will be etched in yr memory forever. He did come back to Jesus in the end
I think we should take the time to gather together as God's church never ceasing in prayer. Could you please pray for me that the glory for the name of Jesus would be the passion of my heart, and that he would bring my lost friends to him for the glory of his name, I know others have the same prayer and I'm willing to do the same.
"Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart Lord, take and seal it"
I love this song!
Helps me feel like I'm singing to God!
came here from love Comes softly
Prone to wander. Lord, I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love. Here's my heart, Lord take and seal it. Seal it for thy courts above.
Such a truth filled statement.
I loved this video very much. It touched me, and i like the music that the words are being sung to.
"Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to thee"
Too true twoo hoo!
Amazing rendition of this song. Love it.
