The part that made me the most upset when BTU came out is the fact that we basically lost one of the most innovative versions of mc. Console brought so many amazing feature to the tables, some are still better than any other version like the custom superflat ui, the console minigames, the mash up pack releases even the end crystal cages in the dragon fight. So the fact that it got replaced with some weird ported over mobile game was really disappointing. Back then we were even promised things like mods that never came true. Like you said near the end, they should've told players long before they went full on with bedrock

Sure, it's called Minecraft but playing on my Switch with the crappy chunk loading, bugs from the Nether update still in the game, no 1.5 block tall crouching that's three years old, and obscene amounts of random bugs, it's just not fun. I have 600 hours on my Switch but it's just gotten worse over time. Here's a specific story. A week ago, I had stacks of coal ore blocks that I had gotten last time I played so I pillared up to fortune mine them. The first thirty blocks, I was taking nonstop damage when I placed a block. Absolutely nothing was hitting me. I got down to four hearts before I stopped placing blocks and healed up. I built the rest without any damage but as I started to mine it, I would randomly get teleported a block to the side and have to fly all the way up Landing on a single block. This kept happening so I wasted over 35 rockets just trying to mine some coal for like 15 minutes. It should've taken two. Just not fun

The thing about custom superflat on bedrock is that there is code for it. If you load up a custom superflat on console edition, and instantly port it to bedrock it will still generate past what loaded in on console, showing that bedrock has the capability to load superflat worlds

C'mon, when I was you g you had the console and controller for pretty colours on the TV, you don't need ten year olds to be competitive. It'd be better to hand off that responsibility to servers which might make minigames with mobile in mind.

Small correction, but C# is very dissimilar to C++. They only share a similar name because Microsoft thought it'd make it more popular. C# has a garbage collector to automatically manage memory, whereas C++ requires manual memory management. C# compiles to bytecode where it is then interpreted on user's computers, whereas C++ compiles directly into machine code. C# is also object-oriented, whereas C++ supports a variety of paradigms (with object-oriented being only one of many options). C# is actually much more similar to Java, another garbage collected, bytecode compiled and object-oriented language. As such C++ has far better performance compared to C#, at the cost of being more challenging to write code in.

    -Dual Wielding
    -Hardcore
    -Superflat and more world options
-Ability to build on Nether roof
    -Banners on shields
    -Sweeping Edge
    -Banner markers on maps
These are some of the most wanted features for Minecraft Bedrock that I and probably other many millions of people have been waiting for for many many years and are still waiting to this day.
I love to see parity don't get me wrong but I feel like Mojang should prioritize parity features which people actually really want and/or have been craving for for years on end. Instead it feels like they're completely ignoring all of these features so they can do more work on the Marketplace.
I mean Dual Wielding I can understand even though they already fixed the touch screen problem by updating the controls and adding more buttons but I'll still give them a pass here.
Features like Hardcore tho? How is something so simple not in the game yet?
Superflat and more world options? They just updated the UI and moved things around so why couldn't they also just add more options on the way?
Why is it so hard for them to give us the ability to build on the Nether roof like on Java? I don't know.
Banners on Shields and banner markers on maps? These feel like easy features to add. Why do we not have them yet?
Have I even mentioned RTX? Lol. That was a complete mess but people still crave and want RTX for current gen consoles AT LEAST to this day. Why do we not have RTX on Xbox Series X and PS5 yet? Why was it even announced and hyped up if it wasn't possible? No idea. We don't even have updated versions of the game for Xbox Series X and PS5. What's up with that? Why aren't they focusing on that? Every other game has a next/current gen version so why doesn't Minecraft? Because better optimization for the newer consoles would be too much to ask for I guess

Honestly I think the custom stuff has more to do with Sony and I guess to an extent Nintendo, years before mods were a thing on consoles, when fallout 4 came out it promised custom mods from the community in consoles (something never seen before) into the game (which honestly was one of the features I actually got the game) but the feature was delayed many times until finally Bethesda came out saying that mods weren't coming for PS4 and only Xbox. And if I remember correctly the reason why there wouldn't be mods on PS4 was because Sony feared it would be a way to make the console less secure and risk user's security.
So I think the same is happening again with Minecraft where you can actually get mods on the Xbox version (in a very weird way but you can) and it's basically impossible on the PS4 and Switch. (Unless you play on a server).

9:16 Console Edition has big salmon too. It is so sad, that Xbox One Edition and Nintendo Switch Edition were excluded from the aquatic update.
1:51 Console Edition was written in C#, what? Do you have a source? According to the minecraft wiki it was written in C++ just like bedrock.
Console Edition is certanly still better than bedrock because it has a lot of nice features, that bedrock is still missing:
    1. Furnace minecarts
    2. The luck effect (with potions, splash potions, lingering potions and tipped arrows),
    3. The shrub.
    4. The tutorial world
    5. Minigames
    6. In game tips and descriptions for blocks and items
    7. Smaller biomes
    8. More common structures
    9. Blazes dropping 0-2 Glowstone dust when killed by a player (drop rate is unaffected by the looting enchantment)
    10. Nether warts generating outside of fortresses
    11. Wither skeletons rarely spawning outside of fortresses
    12. The ability to pause the game
    13. Minecarts being twice as fast
    14. Better looking 3d chest icon when the game is saving instead of a weird 2d icon
    15. The crafting recipe for enchanted golden apples
    16. Dog plays after cat in the music disc
    17. Controller hints work better, the generally mostly only show up, when the action is possible unlike on bedrock, the hints are smaller and at the bottom left but still readable, which is better and the buttons for the controller hints look pressed if you press them in a menu.
    18. You can scroll in the end text
    19. Sneaking while gliding with an elytra and not holding an item in the mainhand makes your right arm face forward
    20. Camera tilting when turning while gliding with an elytra (can be disabled in the setttings if you don’t like it)
    21. The emerald above villagers and wandering traders when trading with them (for some reason this nice feature was removed from bedrock for parity even though it was really useful)
    22. Better furnace (smoker and blast furnace too) GUIs (it shows the name of the ingredient and fuel slot)
    23. You can hold down the attack key to continiously attack
    24. Better held item tooltips, while bedrock only shows the name, the enchantments and potions effects of the item, Console Edition can show all information below the name when switching hotbar slots. You can see things like the flight duration for fireworks, attributes of the item etc. (Unlike bedrock, Console Edition also has a limit, where it only shows up to 3 rows below the name)
    25. You can see the amount of armor points that an armor piece gives you when hovering over it and this can of course also be seen when switching the hotbar slow
    26. The old longer XP level up sound (sounds better than the new one imo)
    27. You can exit worlds without saving
    28. The skin menu is better because the players in the menu wobble with their arms and legs, you have an option to add skins to your list of favourite skins and you can use the stick to turn (RS on Xbox) to rotate the player or make it sneak or move the arm
    29. The player turns with the minecart when it goes around a corner
    30. Sprinting is not cancelled when walking against a block
    31. Phantoms have less health (10 instead of 20)
    32. Vindicators deal less damage (6 on easy, 10 on normal and 15 on hard instead of 7 on easy, 13 on normal and 19 on hard)
    33. On PS4 Edition, which has the village and pillage update you can see the item tooltip of items in villager trades, that you do not have unlocked yet, allowing you to see things like the enchantments before unlocking the trade. On bedrock you can only see the item but hovering over it doesn’t show the item tooltip.
    34. Arrows get stuck inside the player
    35. You can see the offhand slot on the left next to the hotbar to see the item! On bedrock it is so frustrating that I do not see it because it means I cannot see the amount, how often I have the item, the durability of the shield and the cooldown of the shield if it is disabled by an axe!
    36. Spiders can spawn with an effect on hard difficulty
    37. Creepers with an effect spawn an area effect cloud of their effects when exploding
    38. Hearts moving in the correct direction (up) and not the wrong direction (down) when having the regeneration effect
    39. You can right click mobs with its spawn egg to spawn the baby variant
    40. Item frames are entities instead of blocks, making more decorations possible. All of these decorations break if you convert your world from Console Edition to bedrock.
    41. More popular redstone mechanics, such as quasi-connectivity and sticky pistons not retracting the block, they pushed, when given a 1 tick pulse. This also means that a lot of your redstone contraptions from Console Edition stop working if you convert your world to bedrock.
    42. Faster regeneration if you have saturation points (notable you regenerate a lot of hearts quickly if you eat items with high saturation like golden carrots or steaks)
    43. Newer AI for skeletons and strays, where the move while drawing their bow
    44. Heart particles when attacking an entity to show how much damage you dealt
    45. Particles for the sharpness, smite and bane of athropods enchantment
    46. Halloween easter eggs such as undead mobs spawning with pumpkins and jack o'lanterns and a special splash text for halloween and bats spawning at higher light levels (up to 6 instead of 3) from 20th October to 3rd November
    47. Better blinking for effect icons on the HUD, they blink more and more the lower the duration is, while on bedrock they blink always the same during the last 10 seconds
    48. Effect icons having two rows (top for positive effects and bottom for negative effects) as opposed to being on top of each other on bedrock
    49. Smooth animation when mounting an entity, where the entity moves to it (can also be seen in multiple console edition update trailers)
    50. Ability to enchant every item with every enchantment using an anvil in creative mode
    51. Changes made to redstone dust hitboxes from Java Edition 1.9 (on bedrock it is still always a full block square hitbox)
    52. Higher resolution for explosion particles
    53. Max entity cramming, which deals 3 HP of damage every half second (on java edition there is also a gamerule to change the maximum amount, which is 24 by default added in java edition 1.11 and console edition TU54)
    54. Updated durability bar, which is easier to see especially if the durability is low
    55. Zombie sieges
    56. Left handed mobs
    57. Ability to see the amount of items and durability in the hotbar in creative mode without opening the inventory
    58. Better void, meaning you take damage and die from it in creative mode, there is no barrier 40 blocks below the build limit and you take damage after being at least 64 blocks below the build limit instead of immediately when being outside of it.
    59. Strongholds generating with iron doors
    60. Not outdated boat physics (on bedrock boats still always swim up in water even when underwater just like the old boats did on Java before 1.9)
It also has a lot of sounds, that bedrock hasn’t:
    61. Newer sounds for using a fishing rod (both casting and reeling in), bedrock still uses the normal throwing sounds (Added in Console TU53 and Java 1.12)
    62. The sound for a channeling trident spawning a lightning bolt (bedrock has the sound but it is unused) (Added in Console TU69 and Java 1.13)
    63. Sound for placing lily pads (Added in Console TU43/TU46 and Java 1.9)
    64. Sound for going with the eye level of the player underwater and out of the water (Added in Console TU69 and Java 1.13)
    65. Shulkers using a different hurt sound, when closed (bedrock has the sound but it is unused) (Added in Console TU46 and Java 1.9)
    66. Newer splashing sound for landing inside water
    67. Unique sound for throwing eye of ender (bedrock uses the normal throw sound)
    68. Sound for filling a glass bottle with water (bedrock only has the sound for filling it with dragon’s breath) (Added in Console TU43/TU46 and Java 1.9)
    69. Newer sound for tilling farmland with a hoe and making grass path (dirt path in the newest version on java). On bedrock making dirt path just plays the sound for walking on grass, which makes no sense. (Added in Console TU43/TU46 and Java 1.9)

    75. Newer door sounds, iron door sounds, trapdoor sounds, iron trapdoor sounds, fence gate sounds (Added in Console TU46 and Java 1.9)
The actual list is way longer. I didn’t mention all of them. The list I posted in this comment is very incomplete. It is nice that the sound for enchanting an item in an enchanting table was added to bedrock in 1.19.30 though. This feature has existed on Console Edition for more than 5 years. Of course that’s not enough because all of the other missing sounds still need to be added.

Also we can’t forget that the “Worse Together” was just a downgrade to Minecraft they discontinued Minecraft Legacy Console Edition in favour of this bad version 😥 And we are still missing these LCE features and the ones that IBXToycat pointed out have still not been fixed on Bugrock on consoles. Also LCE got 1.12 earlier then by like half a month Java edition and Bugrock got it like a year later then java I think that LCE should have been updated and Bugrock discontinued even on mobile devices and replaced with a new better version.

They 100% should have refined Bedrock prior to going gungho and releasing it on the entire world. Minecraft on Switch is still the worst version to play on because of who knows why, corporate decisions or just the developers ignoring it. Other bugs have just been waved away on the Bug Tracker as "Will not fix" because why? There are some pretty serious issues and Bedrock's nickname being Bugrock isn't just a funny meme because it's moderately buggy. No you can basically just be playing casually and run into Bug after Bug constantly. I get that Bedrock's crossplay is great, but they just went through it too fast. Instead of optimizing it for everyone, mobile, consoles, and PC, they ended up just making a mess of a game that doesn't communicate with each other, and just ended up splitting the community into factions of Legacy Console, Bedrock, Java. Now no one is happy, and you have everything being a warzone and Mojang haven't really been helping the issue with ignoring certain issues being brought up.

  • @D44RK_Iced_Yogs
    @D44RK_Iced_Yogs 2 года назад +80

I’ll say this again! To the people who say we should give Mojang a break! They’ve put themselves in this mess and they have to fix it themselves. They make enough money as is, so they shouldn’t have so many problems with efficiency and optimizing things for the people (if that’s bad it’s because of the dumb management.) Why shouldn’t they? Because they have money and I have data to back this up. Marketplace collabs are some of the proof of this, if those didn’t make money they wouldn’t license so many big mainstream things let alone build them. If they didn’t then they’d have more money from the marketplace and not worry about if things sold well or not. Not to mention taking ~30% of everything sold would fatten anyones pockets with the things being sold from .99 to ~15.99.
When people say “be grateful the game is over 10 years old” I literally can’t believe it. Times have changed, getting updates for games are essential to keep a player base, whether it’s bugs or DLC; you’ll eventually have a need for more content for more buyers. That being said, saying the people shouldn’t expect to have amazing frequent updates when all they’ve done for the past 12 years is push out a banger one after another is BS. Notch, Jeb, Dinnerbone, all of the older team, effectively impacted the game more then a billion dollar company. They built the game so the company can use it and make it amazing, which granted, they’ve done wonders with a lot of updates however the max time they’ve taken for each one is at most, 7-8 months with the least being a month. We got 3 parts to the pillagers in under a 2/3 of year, two parts of Aquatic and that took less then 6 months. I don’t mind small updates, however they set our expectations way too high and never disappointed. They did this to themselves and not to mention if it’s money that’s the problem, then it’s Microsoft that’s at fault. Why? Because they’ve made 3.132e9 dollars or simply put 3123900000 dollars off of Minecraft in the past 10 years. With ~537 million being left out due to it being owned by Notch and not Microsoft.
This means, they shouldn’t have problems like they have with staff. It’s poor management or spending or whatever, whatever it might be, it shouldn’t be happening. Frankly we shouldn’t have to be so loud about changes or horrible bugs. They should already know what is okay and not okay to add, we don’t have to hold their hand with ideas and additions with community votes or bad coding due to the piss take that is Bedrock. Ofc I’m not saying get rid of it, the communication is great but too much can be bad. We love bug reports but they have a weird system in place, don’t communicate what bugs they’re working on, nor keep “bugs” that literally are wonderful ideas and add so much to playing the game YOU want.
This entire thing is absolutely unfair to both parties and it’s just tiring. All it takes is some optimization for bedrock and the freedom for the players to have most things at their disposal. Issues like PS or Switch not having custom skins, the power to enable beta (now preview, without realms or a second game bought on laptop or PE) shouldn’t be happening. They shouldn’t be gatekeeping so much from players, they shouldn’t have so many problems with the marketplace like Copyright or cheap cookie cutter “mods”. It should be noticed and taken care of within a reasonable amount of time, not within the next years when they run out of ideas, now, when they have the power and feedback from users. They’ve programmed lots into both versions and both should be accessible in a similar way. Education edition also has so many amazing features yet they don’t put them in the base game, it’s baffling, just so hard and annoying to understand or reason with. Everyone is at fault, but mostly Microsoft and Mojang are to blame for the bad rules and limitations set by newer and older devs.

If you have java and a pc, you can make a custom skin and upload it to your character in java, then port it through the launcher to bedrock, then you can use it on console.
But if you dont have a PC, you're SoL. Its the dumbest thing ever. And what makes it better I found out microsoft notified me my user experience was beingntracked for something. I shrugged it off like yeah whatever, and two days later you could buy my skin's head.
I trawled the internet for a skin even remotely like the one i wanted on both the store and Java's third party files before finally settling down and working on mine, and yet they got a head exactly like mine to the pixel on the store for $1.29, right after they checked my account out.

There was so much lag that i could walk around and everything would get unloaded except for chests, spawners, etc so i basically had a vanilla xray glitch that occured when loading a chunk or when autosaving, which is almost always when playing in short sessions. I havent ever been easily able to host a game without buying a realm. 5 years later and i still cant host games. For the first 4 years it was almost always crashing and giving weird errors that deleted either all entities or only certain ones such as minecarts. I couldnt go in the nether without at least my minecarts getting deleted. I lost all of my farm animals, a half stack of iron from making minecarts, an armor stand with enchanted leather armor and an enchanted netherite sword, and a chunk even got reverted to a previous state somehow. on the PS4 it actually was just an update that added the new version and a menu button to go back to the old one, there aren't 2 separate games.
as for if it's worth it... idk. There's some huge improvements (command blocks, structure blocks, experimental features meaning more common updates, cross-play, infinite worlds, in game chat), but there's also some big downgrades (no custom superflat or amplified worlds, no world size select, a bunch of false promises about things they'd add, and some QOL downgrades, no furnace minecarts, no tutorial worlds or free DLC trials, no mini-games mode, bedrock redstone)
there's also things that still really need changing on console (add a proper way to transfer worlds between platforms that doesn't rely on realms, add a way to download behaviour packs on console as currently you can't even do that from the marketplace since they don't sell behaviour packs that aren't connected to a world, and let console players connect to any server, not just the few "official" ones). It seems like the things that were big improvements with bedrock were things they weren't planning on doing on legacy console anyway, but it would have been nice to see the game as it is in 1.19 but on legacy console, it would have been fun making a deep dark superflat world, but mojang can't be bothered to just add it despite the fact they definitly could if they wanted to. It's the best selling game of all time, there's no way they wouldn't be able to add a feature that was added in TU25 on legacy console in 5 years.
Switching over to bedrock was probably for the best and had to happen eventually, but they really didn't put enough effort into making sure that went well and felt like there weren't any major downsides.

For me there's only 4 reasons Bedrock is good.
    1. It's still updated.
    2. Infinite Worlds.
    3. Simultaneous Updates.
    4. Crossplay.
I'd much rather live in a world where all 3 Console Veraions were Crossplay using Console Edition.
By now the Xbox Series, and PS5 could have Infinite Worlds(using the Console Edition), while the Switch might be limited to only playing on the Large Template from Console Edition(so Switch could play with Xbox, and/or PlayStation players if they are on those templates).
In this world I guess Xbox One, and PS4 would also potentially be able to play with the others on the Large Template.
A lot of my issues with Bedrock would probably be fixed if there was a next gen version of Minecraft, but that won't happen in order to not leave Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and Mobile behind.

I only play Minecraft Java now. I used to play pocket edition 5 years ago because i didnt have a PC that time, and I enjoyed it, the only problem was when I went into multiplayer like skywars and bedwars etc. i would get absolutely destroyed by the people playing on Windows 10 and controllers. It was absolutely impossible to counter because pc gaming is so dynamic. I bought a wireless controller of my own, a very good controller however minecraft didnt quite support it well. Finally I had to quit the game I loved so much because whenever i went into multiplayer the win10 sweats would call me a noob when I was playing on a touchscreen.
When I did get a PC 2 years ago I downloaded bedrock again and went in and absolutely destroyed those same guys with barely any practice at all, and then quit Bedrock for once and for all after getting revenge, because I realised now I will be unfair for other touchscreen players playing mcpe because they cant afford a PC yet.

The fact that mojang called minecrafts "better together update" an update even though it was intire new version of the game should have been an indication that minecraft bedrock would turn into absolute dumpster fire of a game 🙄
What makes it worse is that developing bedrock edition was an absolute waste of time, they already had legacy console edition which was fully updated all the way to 1.13 yet they decided to scrap all of it and remake THE INTIRE GAME and miss several features in the process

I only have the console edition of Bedrock on Xbox. I've never bought a map on the market place and don't plan too in the foreseeable future. I use an app on the Xbox that lets me copy a world into Minecraft game folder. This is how I play multiple custom maps, especially Skyblock and Flatworlds. I still crave we get the custom flatworld options on console someday soon!

I think my main gripe with Bedrock edition is that it feels so unresponsive compared to the legacy console editions & Java. It felt optimized and the inventory management & crafting were superior imo. If Bedrock played like legacy console editions in it feels, I probably would've switched to Bedrock for my vanilla experience.

It just feels like bedrock devs don't really care about the users.
I'm not talking about the marketplace or things out of their control, but we've had so many bugs that seem easy to fix and have lasted since the beginning of Bedrock edition.
We've gotten to a point where bugs are more and worse like not being able to move to the right on mobile devices on 1.19.0 to the infamous pink glitch that was caused by renderdragon.
All because they wanted to market the rtx which most of us will never use and the performance is worst than ever, and it brought so many bugs for no reason.
That's the reason a lot of us changed to Java, but not everyone has that luxury

    • @charlestonianbuilder344
      @charlestonianbuilder344 2 года назад +1

i dont have that luxury to go to java but also dont have the burden as said about bugrock, i encounter one reoccuring but harmless and uncommon bug but thats about it, had a pretty normal experience on bugrock despite its reputation, and its not all gloom and doom, as there is glimmers of hope as the devs dont entirely ignore these bugs, they often release bug fix and bug patch more than java, and even the infamous pink glitch from the render dragon, was fixed in a beta, though they took it back due to some other bug, not trying to defend bugrock and all, just saying it could be better, im an update behind to not experience the render dragon problem too

I refuse to believe the better together update was more then 2 years ago

  • @MR3DGUY
    @MR3DGUY 2 года назад +2

The update was terrible and ruined Minecraft for console gamers. We were forced onto this new version of the game which was literally a mobile port to console. To this day they still haven’t reached parity with console edition as they are still missing minigames, improved ui, console controls (not clunky mobile controls), exiting without saving, custom flat worlds, even some skin packs are still missing. They didn’t even try and if you experienced how incredibly smooth and well put together the console edition is then you don’t know what we lost. This is the reason I stopped playing Minecraft and I’m sure many others did the same. On top of that there were so many broken promises such as custom skins which never happened. I still consider bedrock to be inferior to console and would rather live in a reality where console edition continues to be updated.

  • @ernestregia
    @ernestregia Год назад

I suppose this update was huge for bedrock. Extremely useful for multiplayer. And the fact that this was released during the dark era of minecraft attracted more player to play bedrock more than java. Maybe in the past, this wasn't so optimized, but now, they're slowly getting better.

  • @duckyshitatmc7103

think that minecraft shouldve had 3 versions
    Java for PC
Bedrock for Consoles (n maybe pc)
    Pocket for Mobile
This would allow many different teams work on their own schemes, optimizing for their platforms

What's funny is that Mojang one day decided that mobile (pocket edition) was so good that they decided to make it it's own grand version as Java's contender, aka Bedrock. Funny how the internal files in all Bedrock versions are basically still named "minecraftpe", where pe stands for pocket edition
