Dan & Sharon:
HOW WE ROLL
WHO WE ARE
While being treated in the hospital for a serious accident, Dan experienced malignant hyperthermia during an intubation procedure. Malignant hyperthermia is a genetic condition that causes a bad reaction, similar to an allergy, when someone who has it is exposed to certain kinds of general anesthesia. As a result, he is an incomplete tetraplegic (incomplete means that he does have limited movement in his arms and legs) with widespread nerve damage and a tracheostomy and feeding tube. He is a retired teacher and along with his wife, Sharon, also a retired teacher, lives in a hotel while waiting for modifications to their home to be completed. Their dog, Elvis, and blind cat, Cello, are really embracing hotel life.
