Squier keeps helping fender not get stuck. These colors and finishes and ideas seem so much more bold. Fender should be releasing so many more colors, options, and short runs.
they were just a young 18 years when I came along, they have just always existed to me and probably many others watching, crazy to imagine a world where your first guitar wasn't one.
Jeff Healey absolutely played a Squier! My first electric was a black Squier Strat (which is now my son’s) and when I saw an ad where Jeff was playing his Squier Strat I was over the moon. Jeff Healey was also the first concert I ever went to way back in 1990 I believe and he’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

There are a few minor superficial flaws and the neck pickup is mostly unplayable but as a $300 moddable platform with an incredible neck and delivered to my home it was a bargain👍🏽 thank you Squier
I picked up a seafoam Strat for under $300 last Christmas. Decked it out with a white pearloid pick guard and upgraded the electronics. Great cheap axe.
I have the 40th anniversary Jazzmaster in Seafoam. It feels better to play than my Vintera Tele Deluxe. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more pros using them on stage.
You won't. It's a cheap guitar for good reasons. If you see it on TV it's probably something the venue had in stocks they could loan to the gig musician at the time. Go play a real fender side by side to the Squier and feel the difference
@James Tillman I have played them side by side. There is some difference, as you would hope seeing as fenders cost several times as much as the squiers do. But it's not a huge difference and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a good squier, and absolutely no reason why a professional musician couldn't use one for a live performance. And in fact they do, on occasion. The great jeff Healey played a squier strat for a long time, and sounded great, and Peter perret of the band The Only Ones plays one also. There's no reason why any professional couldn't use one, but many of them have their own signature fenders or whatever, or like to use vintage instruments. Also your average rock star makes a lot of money, so it stands to reason they would invest more money into their instruments. Not because there is anything wrong with a squier, but rather because a more expensive instrument will probably be just that great, as well being more desirable, naturally. Nothing wrong with squier though.
Pretty sure it’s a polyester vs polyurethane thing? Fenders urethane finishes always come in much nicer colors than their polyester offerings and squier exclusively used urethane
Honestly I have Fenders and Squires, man it hard to tell the difference. Squire is so good these days its really crazy. If you are on a budget it's a no brainer to get the Squire.
I just picked up a 40thAE Tele, red like the one in the video, from a major US retailer who had it on an irresistible sale. I brought along my 20+ year pro guitarist brother for help checking it out, and we both agreed that even at full price these things are an absolutely spectacular deal, with the Tele in particular there's really no comparison until at least the over $1k Vintera. One thing I'll say, though, is that I highly recommend trying multiple examples out in person before buying, we did that and there was a shocking amount of variation in sound between them, the one I bought had a MUCH hotter bridge pickup than the one before it, really awesome cowboy boot stomping country sound that the other example totally lacked.
All great additions to the Squier brand! I really like the Tele more than the others, though I must add that the neck pickup of the Jazzmaster is really schweeeeet!! Well done, Squier!
