Cuba deserved the Oscar for this scene alone. What makes it so legendary is he wasn't even playing music in the clip. Movie sets can't have music playing as it'll mess with the film editing process. The set would have been dead quiet. So all that energy and spontaneity came purely from him. No rhythm or beat to inspire it. That's talent right there.

I still use this joke with my sister whenever one owes money to another. And we're not english speakers, even less when we saw this movie dubbed the first time. That's the best compliment I can do to this epic scene ))
Jerry is a salesman, Rod is his client and "The Money!" is a metaphor that describes the most important thing for him: his NEEDS. The only way to make the client happy is to offer benefits that meet his needs (a giant football contract in this case). Sweet talking ("I got Bob Sugar on the other line!"), good relationships, emotions ("I like you, my wife likes you") are nowhere near as important as "The Money!". Rod is essentially coaching Jerry, he is helping him stay focused on what matters: "The Money!". He keeps pushing Jerry because he wants Jerry to show him he's aiming for "The Money" with everything he has. This scene is a masterpiece.
This is such an amazing movie. It has such a carefree feeling to it that I can't really explain. It takes it's time and makes you feel like you're really in the moment in this film. I feel like it's something lost in today's movies- everyone is so ADD that they can't pay attention to something on video if it doesn't have a million jump cuts and every second of every scene has something going on. I wish this style of filmmaking came back. Closing thing I had to this was "Teenage Cocktail." Made me feel like I was in a personal experience rather than rapid-fire scenes. IDK.
you just have a selective memory of the best 90s movies or if younger haven't fully explored the depths of bad 90s filmmaking and writing. For example, Jean Claude van Damme once killed Pittsburgh Penguins mascot Iceburgh with an industrial dishwasher. Also, Pauly Shore.
Yeah everyone was really excited about those other checks until they found out that the more money the government prints the less valuable the money is. Then everyone complains about inflation. Remember the 5 dollar footlong at Subway just 10 years ago. The same sandwich now is worth $13. You can apply that just about everything. From your mortgage, food, electric etc.
In my video production class we had to make a video of us recreating a famous movie moment and my group did this scene. I was Jerry Maguire and my friend was Rod. My class lost it when I said “I love the black man” and “I love black people”. My teacher almost marked my group down when I said “You my mother f**ker” but he said that because this was his favorite movie that he wouldn’t mark us down.
