Rod and his family had already made up their mind to stay with Jerry when Jerry called. Rod told him so, "I like you. My wife likes you. You're good to my wife. I will stay with you." During the entire call, Rod is involving his family, walking around his son, brother, and wife. His brother follows him around after he goes up to this room. Rod is telling Jerry what's important to him, "I'm from Arizona...I'm a Sun Devil ... I have ants on my wall...My brother's room is flooded". Jerry had written in his mission statement that the agency had forgotten what's important. Rod is telling him in this call, and Jerry isn't really listening, just trying to hurry him off the phone. Rod wanted Jerry to keep his promise to his wife of "more personal attention". This was the entire basis of Jerry's mission statement to the office. His mentor, Dicky fox, always said, "The key to this business is personal relationships". Jerry had wanted to do this, but until this scene, Jerry hadn't really done that or been forced to. Rod forces him to in this scene.

my favs Tom Cruise´s movies :
      - Color of the Money ( Drama ) great work with Paul Newmann and Directed by Scorsesse...
      - Collateral ( Thriller Drama ) Intriguing & strong character well molded & in some crazy delivered way by Cruise Directed by Michael Mann.
      - Born on the 4th July ( Political Drama ) real hard actign work with political activism behind so good performed by Tom Cruise directed by Oliver Stone..
      - Rain Man (Psychological Drama) one incredible movie side by side with a legend like Dustin Hoffman
      - Vanilla Sky ( Fiction - Drama ) despite be a remake, got real dramatic work by T.C. under cameron crowe´s vission...
      - Jerry Mcguire ( Romantic - Drama ) maybe the best drama movie character played by T.C.
      - Minority Report (Action - Fiction - Research Drama ) to me his best action movie with so interesting cyber punk & real dramatic elements...
A Few Good Men, Valkyrie, Risky Business and American Made are also good movies, but the others listed to me, are more relevant in the acting (non action genre) perform in cinema by Tom Cruise....
Its strange, i respect his commitment, incredible skills & courage in action movies but IM movies dont get me too much so, in reference to his actions movies maybe the Jack Reacher saga i found it really good...

Changed my pay contract to make it impossible for me to succeed. Fired me in the middle of a car deal because I beat him at his own game and used the stipulations he put on me against him. My customer walked out because she didn’t want to buy from anyone else but me. They gave all my clients to another couple creeps from my hometown. Wish I could have stuck it to him like this 🤷‍♂️ lol. I left the business and saved my soul though.

There is NO WAY they let Jerry back into his office (after being fired), trying to get as many clients for himself as he could. They wouldn’t have let him attempt to do that. This scene is way more effective if he’s at his own home. I have many gripes about this movie, but this is by far my biggest.
