Dalaras is modern time ORPHEUS! No doubts about that. Devil is in the detail - and Dalaras' details are unbelievable. His ornamentation in these hard songs of rebetiko, dimotiko, and Byzantine style are still amazing to me after decades of listening to his voice.
Stylistically they are always what they should be, he never makes stylistic errors. His precision in ornamentation is instrumental! I listen to just one of his ornamented phrases hundreds of times! He sings Turkish songs better than Turks, Armenian songs better than Armenians, Spanish songs better than Spaniards, and Greek songs - better than Greeks! :-) Not to speak about the special beauty of his voice. I don't think that we can ever have another Dalaras. Orpheus is only ONE!

To me, comparing Dalaras to any current singer in the world is equal to blasphemy. Long live "the King"!
