Olivia is the third major singer/songwriter we've seen come of age in the (2010+) iphone era - Lorde, Billie and Olivia. I can't help thinking that having all that the immediate access to a world of music and information is making a difference.

She said she loves songwriting and has been doing it since she was very young. In 2020, during the pandemic lockdown, she made a goal to write one song every day. i believe it lasted for a few months, but many of the songs from Sour came out of those times. Favorite song from Sour is so hard to choose. but i'll have to agree with you that hope ur ok is so good, lyrically, the emotion it evokes, the meaning. it is so underrated. I was thinking the other day about this album about writing breakup songs at a young age, first love, puppy love because some people say she's too young to know/understand relationships. But i think that is the best age to write about heartbreak since there are so much emotions. but it takes talent to be able to make it sound good for one, but relatable to the mass, very difficult. And Olivia has done just that.

Still only listened to it once, great album but doesn’t hit for me like it does for most people. Maybe it’s cuz I’ve only been through one relationship and it ended cuz she was a crazy person so I can’t relate to most of the songs, but you can really feel her pain and emotion. Good solid album, just really not for me
I respect that, I think my biggest take away is the potential Olivia has, regardless if the album lyrically is one that you can relate to. I think she’s a wonderful vocalist, and I think it’ll only strengthen. I mean for me, I just felt badly that she was so young and in so much heartache 😅 she made you feel her pain.

@@ShelbyShuffleMode oh absolutely, she’s a very strong artist already, I just can’t connect with her like most people do. Just leaves me not enjoying it quite as much as most people. I also wish there was some more upbeat exciting songs whether it be only one or two more. Slow ballads aren’t as much my thing, but hers really are special. Still just don’t connect with me as closely. Again just an album that’s truly not for me, but I can definitely recognize it’s greatness! I can tell Olivia’s gonna get so much better than she already is, she’s gonna be at the top of the music industry in the near future!

I like sad music a lot, and I bet I’ll love this album eventually, it took me time to love Future Nostalgia, Kiss Land by The Weeknd, The College Dropout by Kanye, 808s & Heartbreak, Yeezus, The Life Of Pablo (so most of the Kanye albums 😂), and even Blonde by Frank Ocean took me sometime (still don’t love that album but it’s grown on me).
