    First off you have a beautiful piece of property and you maintain it very well. I too live in Massachusetts and remove my leaves a similar way but I use my push mower. The bag fills up fast the first run but less as the leaf season moves along. I live in a rural area so I too have a lot of leaves to deal with. I love living in New England. Take care

    I finally broke down and bought a Walker this year. I wish I had done it years ago. I used to dread fall clean-up, now I can't wait to get after it on the Walker. The quality of the cut is everything they say it is. My driveway doesn't justify the snow blower attachment, but I will look forward to watching you do your thing. Keep up the good work!

      Thank you very much for the kind comments. I was surprised to hear that 30% of all walker sales are to homeowners so I think the group is growing. Not inexpensive but much cheaper than paying someone and I am like you now I really enjoy using the machine and the grass cut is great, I will definitely be sharing the winter videos in the next few weeks when we get heavy snow. Thanks for watching and for the comments.

    I have 5.5 acres, with about 3 acres of it being lawn. I actually turned away from the Walker (they are awesome machines) and opted for the Kabota BX2380 with removable loader and 56" finish mower and bagger. Really what works for your property works for you. I had the same mentality as you that I was never going to pay someone $800+ per month to landscape my property. I bought the tractor and pay $322 a month, roughly saving me $500 a month. Sometimes you have to spend money and make an investment to save money in the end. Your yard looks awesome by the way!

    I am 58. I've had 4 back surgeries, a very bad shoulder and bad hip.
    I stopped at 4:30 (I had other maintenance to do). I was so sore I was in bed for 4 hours!

  • @djratino
    @djratino 5 лет назад

    I use a Husqvarna riding mower to grind up my leaves. It adds nutrition back to the ground for next year. It takes several passes to get them fine enough. Some areas need a lawn vacuum that dumps like the unit in the video. Most have to have a flexible hose added to the intake for curb vacuuming. Unfortunately this thing doesn't grind them up so there's more dumpings.

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 лет назад

      I used to mulch them and if you don;t have a bagger, or don't want to bag the multiple passes will work for sure. I did that for almost 5 years here. Took me a long time but is a great option.

    • @djratino
      @djratino 5 лет назад

      Silver Cymbal I see no videos on power washers. I've had problems with them leaking water at the inlet when moving them around. I solved the problem by adding a quick connect from Lowe's. As you move them around, the hose tries to twist & back out. This causes the leaks. The quick connect rotates if it gets in a bind. This prevents the garden hose from trying to back out. I'd thought I pass this along.

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 лет назад

    I have battery blowers and when I cut pvc or wood with my power saw or hackzawls instead of the dust and debris coming at me, I place the blower on a fairly low setting right behind me pointed at the work (a bit higher target than the actual cut works best as the stuff kicks up so you want the breeze aimed a little higher to catch the bulk as it blows). It does not need to be right behind the work or you as the operator of the saw and can instead be off to the side and angled. Just so it is blowing away from you. The dust goes in one controlled direction. Obviously on a windy day, pick the right direction to set up your work. This is strictly an outdoor diy hack suggestion.

    Does that mower pick up better than a Snapper Hi-Vac Riding Mower? I have one and it is a great value for the money when it comes to vac power...

    • @SilverCymbal

      I haven't used the Snapper but I did review the specs and it looks like a very well designed deck so I can see that it has good suction for pickups. Sounds like it's working very well and that's what matters most. Thank you for watching.

    How about for a half acre lot with 12 trees behind? A lot of leaves fall during the fall season.

  • @rbljackson
    @rbljackson 5 лет назад

    you definitely have a large lot. Very nice....so how long did it take to clear those leaves? 4 hours im guessing. Also, do you do that weekly during the fall season to keep up while the leaves are falling?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 лет назад

      That Walker mower makes a huge difference in terms of time. I can mow about 1.5 acres of grass with the leaves in about 2.5 hours. Grass alone I can do in 45 minutes, the speed is great. The Walker is $$$ but I am planning to use it for some side work so that will offset some of the cost.

    You really enjoy that walker, going over the same area only 5 days later? And with a ton of leaves still on trees! Maybe you’re just redoing it to make a video. Guess I’m a little envious 😆

      I really do like the machine, it's makes mowing about as fun as it can get. I better enjoy it since I will paying for it for a long time but overall the value works for me along with their amazing resale if things change. Check out my other videos also where I show how I use this for snowplowing too.

    You are right about having the right equipment. Nice job 👍🏾 what was the deciding factor to purchase the walker mower?

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 лет назад +1

      I had used tractors in the past and they are too heavy for lawn mowing and really compact the soil, dont have the quality of cut and are just too slow. They are GREAT for other purposes but I dont have those needs any longer. My deciding factors were speed, quality of cut and ability to use attachments, Lastly resale is amazing on these too so if needs change I can get my money back. I also hope to do side work with it as well to help cover the cost.

    What do you do with all the leaves on the side of driveway? If it is possible i would blow backwards up the driveway towards the house or towards any large area of grass where you can mulch them up again, same like the area near the pool.

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 лет назад

      Yes, I do blow them onto the grass but I am also able to blow them directly into the woods which makes that area pretty easy. I wish I could do that for the whole yard 😀

      Silver Cymbal Thanks for the info. I'm in northern Indiana maintaining about 5 acres of a heavily wooded lot (70+ oak trees).
      Your method is very similar to mine. I have a Simplicity ZTR w/52" mulching deck, plus I have a TracVac system. I typically mulch our property one per week beginning late October and vacuum about every third or fourth time. I'm usually done by the end of November.
      Thanks again for producing a great video, I really enjoyed watching it.

    Can you tell me what a lot like yours is worth? I'm not from NE. Where I'm from a lot like that would be in the $10 - $15 million dollar range easy. But it's really, really beautiful. The only thing holding me back from considering a move to NE is the winters. I'm not sure I'd be able to handle dealing with the winters.

    • @SilverCymbal

      This made me smile. If ONLY, I would happily take the 10mil and buy lots of new mowers and lawn equipment 😀Seriously though in most of Mass (not the super rich towns) a 1 acre sells for around the same as a 3 acre lots. When you finally get above 10 prices go up. But the shorter answer is a lot like mine in 75% of the state is around 200-250k, plus the structure and building costs . In Massachusetts, you get better and more land the further you are from big cities. Hope this helps

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  5 лет назад

      That would be very cool, so many people have come with ideas over the years. The best move still seems to be to just compost them.

    Now I can genuinely say that spending $10,000 on a hurricane leaf blower is definitely worth buying if it takes this guy a few hours using that machine it would take less time to blow those leaves into a wooded area probably a hour and a half maybe two but that investment is worth the time and money for sure
