Never realized they shared the same voice actor. That's awesome! Though if he were going full Starkiller he'd be using Force Lightning to deep fry the clones like an outdoor barbeque.
Actually now that I think about it, why didn't Maul ever use Force Lightning? He's clearly got enough power to pull that off, so why doesn't he do it? Did he never learn or something?

Stark 101 17 rebels was not the best
Getting powerful is not character development. It is satsifying to watch but that is about it. I can suddenly say my character is able to obliterate solar systems and just end it there. It's just an arbitrary number.
Good writing comes from actual emotions, psychology of the character. Which is why Maul became such a good one after clone wars. And in rebels we see the result of his life. He is a broken man who lost everything. At that point he is just sticking to whatever he can find just to live. Taking down Sidious? Not happening considering his state. Replace Vader? That train got off LONG ago. Finding Kenobi? Okay but where is he? It is the reason why he is so goddamn happy when learns that he is alive. Just look at his dialogue in the episode where learns it. His voice sounds so fucking happy and hopeful at the same time. The guy was finally able to find something to cling on to. It is f'ed up considering he is after revenge but it does make sense considering the life he's lead. This guy is nothing but rage and later emptiness. Even his dying words are all about revenge. Maul had a fantastic character arc and a resolution. His life could end in no other way considering the circumstances.
Oguzhan Gungor Asajj Ventress has a really good character development as well wayyy better than anyone in the films

Remember when Ventress crippled a cruiser with well-placed bombs in Season 1? How about when Boba Fett did it in Season 2? Yeah, those were child's play, weren't they?

Ventress and Boba had to use certain equipment to take those ships down. Maul? He used his *bare hands*
Guess the balance of the Force is really leaning towards Dark Side at this period, cause we NEVER saw Maul pull this off before. Dang!
For Ventress case, her job was to help free Nute Gunray from custody. This means that fully destroying the generator and risking the entire cruiser to destroy itself would be a fool hardy idea. Boba case should be self explanatory.

Maul: Did you do it unaided? Did you cripple your ships using only the tools given to you from birth?

Maul: I did. I ripped apart their Hyperdrive using only my hatred. You two are pitiful.
The Maul we see here this season is definitely more like he was in Phantom Menace than in the other series of the Clone Wars. More calm and precise even though he is still very aggressive.

After Disney just shyed away from showing anyone getting merced in 'Rebels', Filoni and his team just let it all out. Maul is killin' clones with pure Sith mentality. I absolutely love this final season.

@@alexdeghost2729 I'm well aware this is Disney/ Star Wars. I'm saying, I feel like Disney gave Filoni his control back. When Star Wars: The Clone Wars first came aboard and slowly developed overtime, you would see people getting gun down like it was going out of style. The directing, art direction, voice acting and writing is LEAGUES better than 'Rebels'. With Rebels, everything is stale, static and unengaging. The only good moments were with Maul, Ashoka and Rex - Clone Wars characters. (And Vader of course) I just feel like Disney was adding its safe Disney touch with 'Rebels', which Lucasfilm/ and LucasArts didn't have with 'The Clone Wars'. So 'The Clone Wars' actually feels brutal and real and not a soft kiddie show like 'Rebels' was.

At this point in there series I believe Maul was more powerful than Anakin at the end of ROTS especially if maul shit on Kenobi all throughout the clone wars and Kenobi beat Vader

@@barkley8285 He absolutely is, Anakin stalemates Kenobi when they are trying to force push each other, while Maul casually breaks Kenobi's force wall, suit Vader is stronger though.
Upon rewatching this, I just realized something. This is the second time Sam Witwer has voiced a character who has for all intents and purposes, ripped a star destroyer out of the sky. Nice.

We see first order Troopers get hit and keep shooting (albiet clearly wounded/kneeling) in TFA. Along with the "TRAITOR!" Trooper, it was probably the only redeeming quality of the movie.

You want to know what I've noticed? The venator crusier has a pretty glaring weakness in the hyperdrive. Seems like every time it gets sabatoged it destroys the whole ship, even if the damage is minor.
Now I see why the empire scrapped them after the war.

Hyperdrives are hugely complicated devices that can send a massive ship through an alternate dimension at ludicrously high speeds, of course they're volatile.

Maul ripped that ship apart all by himself. I knew he was powerful but I didn't know his force wielding was THIS powerful.
You can really see why the jedi die so easily from order 66. Maul, like other siths, won’t hesitate to kill their enemies, even using brutal approaches. The jedi on the other hand, are bound to their moral standards, that they shouldn’t kill anyone only disarm, which held them back.
CT-5555 plus they were just surprised by the sudden betrayal, some didn’t even see the clones aim there weapons at them before being shot down.
Don't forget that Sith only takes the strongest not just anyone can join to be Sith.

However it gets contrasted by Maul's own inability to convince anyone of what he knew, the dark side prevented him from being truly diplomatic to win over the Jedi to the threat in their midst. In the end the world fell because of the faults of both sides.

Maul is honestly a monster in capital supremacy, the ledges are wide so it's a free kill zone against heroes and more, he has extremely high dps and recharge speed, so you can basically re-enact that scene with a saber this time

So Starkiller, sorry I mean Maul, can bring down a Venator using the force. Best feats that Luke Skywalker ever achieved in the Disney Trilogy was lift up an X-wing and use the force to Zoom chat with his nephew on another planet, before committing suicide.
Idk, using the force to guide a proton torpedo down a tiny shaft was pretty impressive for such a newcomer to the concept. Got him a STUPID high killstreak too.
@@ASMR_News Agreed. He wasn't a jedi yet. However, in the Disney Trilogy (Episodes 7-9) he is a Jedi Master. And not just any Jedi Master. He was a Grandmaster, the son of the Chosen One and arguably the most powerful force user alive. He should have been leveling armies with his force push and lightsaber skills, moving black holes, walking on lava while fighting giant creatures and using electric judgement. Compared to Maul in this scene, Luke's force powers in the Disney Trilogy are underwhelming. Even as a force ghost, all he could do was lift an X-wing :P
He also defeated Vader on 1v1, something which Maul has openly admitted he could never do. Feats in the movies are generally more restrained than in cartoons and comics.
@@carloscarcamo5190 That is Luke in the Original Trilogy (Episodes 4-6). Vader was also holding back. He did not want to kill Luke. I would not say Luke defeated Vader. Vader spent many years defeating opponents far more experienced and skilled than Luke. Vader was an experienced jedi killer and one of the best lightsaber duelists.
But people expected more from Luke in the Disney Trilogy. By right, he should have been what Anakin was supposed to become if he hadn't been defeated and injured on Mustafar.
It's heavily implied in the Disney canon that Luke brought down at least one of the star destroyers on Jakku using the power of the Force.

He was nowhere near his prime then like he was now. You can just tell from his final battle with Obi-wan in Twin Suns that a lot has changed between the two. While Obi-wans gotten wiser, Mauls been getting weaker and dumber.
Probably something else about how using big force abilities isn't really practical against another force user unless you're just that OP (Vader and Palpatine). What I mean is that it took some windup for him to pull all that crap apart.

@@ninthkaikan1544 No, it means that the bolt would have had to have gone through both sides to hit Maul. With a trooper wearing it, it only has to go through one side
it makes perfect sense, the bolt goes through one side, but loses energy in the process, and there isn't enough left over to penetrate the other.

Goddamn. Maul's Force powers are even better than Dooku's. Now I really wanna see how Maul would've done in a fight against Anakin. With this scene, that fight probably would've been really close.
I think Maul beat Dooku in Son of Dathomir can't really remember tho.
He wasn't even close to Anakin and Ashoka even said that on Mandalore while fighting Maul "From what iv seen, Anakin would have wiped the floor with you" (OR something along those lines) Kenobi and Ashoka both beat Maul in lightsabre duels and Anakin was more powerful then both of them. Just look at the start of season 7 when Cody and Kenobi are losing their battle to the droids hiding behind debris while admitting defeat. Anakin and his troops turn up and Anakin destroys the Commander droid like nothing while Kenobi stands their shocked at how powerful he has become.
Maul is powerful, but his lightsabre skills aren't top tier. His force powers however are pretty impressive and I wonder if he was more powerful then Dooku.

@@herpderp7264 To be fair, Maul wasn't going all out in his fight with Ahsoka. He was trying to get her to join him. She is right that Anakin would rip him apart based on how he was fighting her. If Maul was going all out like the time he fought Sidious 1 on 1, he would've dominated and based on that fight, he probably would beat Anakin unless Anakin really gives into his anger. It'd definitely be a close fight to be sure.

I just don't think anyone could beat Anakin at this level except for Kenobi and that was only because Anakin was being arrogant on Mustufar and couldn't see he had lost the fight. If it wasn't for the hazardous terrain with all the lava, I think Anakin would have beaten Kenobi too.

With Maul's voice actor being the same guy who voice StarKiller, this whole scene has to be an homage to those games. Hell Ashoka's fighting stance was based off Starkillers, considering both had the same master.

No, the darkside being stronger only corrupts the vision of the Jedi and their meditation hability, the dark users don't gain any raw power. Sidious was outmatched by Yoda in the end of their battle and Obi-Wan was capable of stalemate Anakin, Maul is just this powerful.
Maul has also always been a very powerful force user. In most forms of media he is someone who can very violently and aggressively use force pushes and pulls. The only reason why we do t see it more often is 1. Plot armor and 2. It takes a lot of energy to use force powers to a major scale otherwise all other aspects of combat would be moot

You ever get the feeling that had Maul been born in literally any other time than when Vader and Palpatine lived, he'd be remembered as one of the most powerful sith? Because he's no slouch, and I feel like he's more powerful than the majority of the sith who came before him. He just seems weak in comparison to two of the most powerful force wielders of all time

I just realized the ship They are on Is anakin's Flagship the Resolute he has commanded since season 1
No it’s not the ship here is the Tribulna, the resolute was destroyed over Sullust in season 3
He brought down an entire cruiser after being released. He truly is the Sith equivalent of an apex predator.
Maul took out a Star Destroyer and 1/2 the 501st legion all by himself.
That's insane.
What I love about the second scene more than the first is that Maul actually dodges and deflects the Clones blasts, making them more serious threats instead of generic stormtroopers
In the last scene they practically missed almost every shot when he wasn’t behind cover, here they nearly shot Maul down and he actually had to take them seriously. Maul had to go on the offensive, look at 0:24. That Clone got closer to taking him down than even the Inquisitors in Rebels

From my perspective Maul's pretty handsome- with his perfect jawline and uniquely fierce appearance, however I wonder if anyone else agrees, or is it just me? XD

You can see the 332nd troopers that were still colored were more experienced than the shinies in this one especially that draw from one of the clones that almost hit Maul’s head
They finally have a good budget so they can actually show Jedi and Sith using the force like they should be
