A harrier GR.7 launched 4 AGM-65D's at me so I used the pantsirs ability to launch 4 missiles at 4 different targets at once to defeat them it was pretty cool

How do you do that? Ive been trying to find out but failed so far. Cant really practice in test drive
@@Snake705 you have to build multiple track files, where it draws boxes over each target you can see and then launch and press your “select radar target to lock key” launch and continue

Considering how real life AA's help against missile strikes, we should get a decent amount of points for intercepting rockets and missiles with AA or ATGMS. Like maybe 1/4 or 1/5 of a kill.

Believe it or not, effective air defence requires familiarity with the systems, targets and a keen sense of situational and tactical awareness.
That player is a real CHAD being able to quickly defend himself while keeping the pressure on you.
People mistakenly used to say top tier is zero skill because it is point and click, like if aim is everything .. yeah everything in top tier is point and click, even tanks .. but I want to say that top tier is about everything but aim, it is about game knowledge, map knowledge, equipment management, situational awareness, spotting and timing.
@@Hunter_i86I think the reason most people say top tier is point and click isn't actually because of the point and click(well sorta), but it's mostly because it throws away the basic concepts we've spent countless hours learning in WW2 vehicles like angling, ranging and weakpoint knowledge. Once you leave the latewar era, you feel like you're taking a step back because you'd expect to learn even more ontop of what you already did, but it's kinda the opposite. You don't need to know map distances because laser rangefinders will automatically sight for you. You don't need to know weakspots because all MBTs have the same weakpoints (due to Gaijin being unable to use real-world data for tanks in service). And you don't need to angle anymore because APFSDS will pen at the most absurd angles either way. Top tier is alot different from what War Thunder was meant to be at its core, hence why alot of people like to refer it as "Tank CSGO"
Shame that this game wont reward either of the players for their efforts... amazing effort

Well, I'm in general don't have a glue how to play AA except WWII era.
It's good once you know the basics but if you know what you're doing a Pantsir can be extremely OP. God help you if you see more than one skilled Pantsir player in the same match.

It's his skill that makes that Pantsir worked so well to shoot down your payloads.
Well done for this player. Btw he could also have good teammates there though since he was actually quite safe from enemy vehicles attack on the ground.
He and his Pantsir can actually be defeated if you work together with good wingman for air strike.
It is hard now to take 2 CAS for US team. Too many no-skill wehraboos
@@PyromaN93 Agree, finding a good reliable teammates you could trust is not an easy job.
Maybe you can do several practice sessions together to perform a good close air support.
Start by studying and discussing a strategy to take out the SAM first then do several practical exercises attacking bots in custom games before transitioning to realistic mix battles.
@@patroziussantoz8941 sorry, but I am not English speaker. I can write somewhat right, but me speech level is... meeeh. Also, I did not seriously tryed to play top tier recently. Altrough i kno, how to counter old threats, aka Tunguska and Flarakrad, Pantsir for me is something new.

Highest br I played recently is 10.0, just because I love F-105.
Unfortunately my team was absolute dogass near late match. One of the reasons I was moving around so much was there was someone sniping at me from the factory that I couldn’t even see :/

This X1 combat shows how difficult it is for those on the ground to have to deal with CAS. It was up to the Pantsir player to only defend himself, and only one jet, if there were more than one it was certain to kill, in addition to the fact that the SAMs also need to deal with enemy tanks.
It's harder for the average CAS player to deal with SAMs tho. Keep in mind that Hunter is insanely good at CAS. And most SPAA players are more brain damaged than average CAS players (especially Su-25 and MiG-27 players)
i totally get your point thats its good to have a strong counter against cas- the problen ist that really only two nations get competetive vehicles that can do that (russia pantsir and china TOR)
@@whosfinn420 Yes, it's something to consider. But admittedly I'm an average CAS player and I've been taking more kills against SAMs than I've been killed. That's why I watch all of Hunter's videos, so that he can stop being a medium and become better with CAS, because I understand that he has aerial dominance, he has more chances of winning in WT.

That one jet costs 900SP to use though so in most of time the pilot is outnumbered by air defense, also he didn't only defend himself, he bought a lot of time for his teammates and protected them from 5 guided munitions, so he literally canceled the "close air support" mission. For SAM dealing with enemy tanks I agree on that, I once suggested to Gaijin to extend the area behind the spawn by 500 or 1000 meters in all maps to give SPAA some space to maneuver but they don't care. One of most disadvantages SPAA has is the predictable location and that's not on the SPAA player, it is just the maps are too small and in most of them they have nowhere to go but staying in the spawn location.
The biggest shame is that despite all that, he doesnt actually get any points for any of that.
Yeah, it is just we both enjoyed the fight with no rewards lol.

Perhaps several factors come together, he is a good AA player, he had a good team and the map helps with certain coverages, here is proof that playing with AA DOES require skill.
It doesn’t require skill, because if it did it wouldn’t be nearly as effective as it currently is. However, I’d say it does require skill to essentially lock down the airspace above the battlefield

Do you think he could do the same with a FlaRakRad? He has enough skill for taking cover and shooting down ordnance with a 2nd gen thermal (or is it a 3rd gen?) by using 12 missiles in a row and cannons. I don't quite understand why Hunter even if he knew that it was above average SAM user didn't launch at least 4 mavs in a row, he may shot down all but who knows, way better than doing one by one.
It depends, the SPAA that doesn’t have radars or missiles it kind of requires skill

SAM player after my own heart! Excellent performance on one of the most difficult maps for air defense. This is exactly the kind of player that I was worried about when I heard the Pantsir was coming. If you're unfortunate enough to see more than one player of this guy's skill in a match with the Pantsir just save yourself the trouble and stay on the ground. Good job staying alive Hunter!

Looks more like it was that BamaMike console player that replied in the chat. Chinese players are either cheaters, bot users or really bad.
They're insane because they cheat. Not all of them and not all the time but play around a certain time of day and you'll get the picture.
I haven't played War Thunder for years because I don't have time for the grind and I was stuck at Panzer 38t, but I have to say this game has come a long way and looks frickin awesome. Like a more streamlined version of DCS.
You saved yourself a lot of wasted time and disappointment, trust me. If you decide to start playing again don't buy the $70 premium vehicles, they really aren't worth $70 in most cases.
No stay with dcs. The grind is so ducking bad it will take years for you to come to this point without paying money. Also the jets are ridiculously expensive, to the point that you can just buy a dcs module
In DCS the average sam AI actually intercepts bombs and missiles, and if it's an Anti-Radiation missile, they go cold (deactivating the radar) so, an AI sam in dcs is smarter than the average SAM player in war thunder lol

That's an interesting perspective and another example of how different the play style is in different time zones.
To me, that's pretty normal AA gameplay and I wouldn't even think of taking a plane up at top tier on that map.
One of the reasons I enjoy these videos so much is that CAS rarely has a chance in my experience so it's nice to see it used so effectively.
Gaijin should add rewards for shooting down ordnance.

You should've dropped the GBU and launched a Maverick at the same time, he has to guide the missile to the maverick so he cant shoot the GBU unless he's fast enough.

On console, you can click “A” when looking at a plane to outline it like in arcade mode. When you use “LT” button, it tracks the target so it’s basically like a radar track without using a radar. It works from like 10km and sometimes more. It also can work through some terrain like small hills.

I'm a console player myself and have played many different radar SPAAs including the Pantsir and personally i think that the "aimbot" feature is quite annoying so i have it disabled. And the "aimbot" doesnt even help the Pantsir in the video because you cant lock onto mavericks and GBU-8. That means he used some skill to intercept thoes missles because good players dont use the "aimbot" feature.
That console marking planes through Mount Fuji is broken, I don't know why Gaijin didn't fix it yet! It is literally wallhack.
At that point I would’ve switched to the gbu-8 since they’re highly resistant to interception. In two separate instances I had a tor and pantsir fire 4 missiles that hit my bombs but never destroyed them. They failed to intercept and died because of it 😊
But I used two GBU-8 in the video, he shot them with guns.
I don't know how it is modeled in WT, but since the Maverick has its own seeker head you should be able to overcome him with ~4 missiles quickly after one another.

That Pantsir has great skill, props to you for being able not to die immediatly! your dodges and avoidance was text book, I dont have either jet nor SPAA,
Is the pantsir top tier or is their better spaa? as a pilot, could you of dumped multiple missles to stop the Pantsirs locking? or can it multi lock and re-engage targets with missles?> aka fire and forget?
You can launch multiple missiles on him but you need to be very fast doing it because Pantsir S1 missile is 1300m\s, so it is literally a guided APFSDS round coming at you, if he went behind cover and cut the line of sight all Mavericks in air will self destruct. Pantsir S1 is the very top tier Russian air defense system.

This is nice but most maps don't allow you this much freedom as a SPAA because:
-You're going to get sniped if you try to leave spawn because of bad map design
-Due to bad map design it's going to be easy for the enemy CAS to predict your position by looking into spawn
-Your team will be doing badly and your spawn is going to get invaded
-It will be a open map so you will have no cover to hide behind
Ideally maps like factory and cargo port give you most freedom as a SPAA if your team isn't bad, if your team cannot hold the line you can just leave if you're in a SPAA.
Once upon a time, I suggested adding 1000 meters area behind spawn in all maps to give SPAA some space to maneuver, but Gaijin don't care.

Remove the ability to 3rd person spam the key for locking targets in TWS and we will see how good pantsir players are. Some people underestimate that feature and how useful it can be to stay consistent on the lock and vsibility on enemy cas. Sadly only Pantsir and TOR have TWS.
Yeah, when I play any SPAA I spam the radar lock button and it sometimes detects targets that I didn't even know about, then switch to IRST and launch haha, no need to switch to IRST with Pantsir S1 though :D
Also, the guy in vid is a console player so he has the OP lock feature that PC player don't have.

Would you say that the f16A is better than the f14B for CAS or is the f14B better?
Both are needed in my lineup, because both are not perfect .. one has TGP with thermal and laser GBUs but no TV weapons, and the other has TV weapons but no TGP. I keep both of them and choose whichever I want depending on the situation, map, and also the mood :)

I play on 100gb WT client graphic package and highest in-game graphic settings .. also I limit fps from Nvidia control panel, maybe capping fps is the reason?

What do mean about that? He is a AA truck his job is to supress jets and shotdown missiles, not to deal with tanks and cap points.

The only other option in this scenario would be to use high drag bombs....but War Thunder allows radar to see through objects so regardless of how low you get...he can still see you. If they would fix the radar, a super sonic low altitude high drag bomb would be perfect. Radar wouldn't see you, he wouldn't hear you because you're supersonic, and once he does...it'd be too late. The bombs would already be impacting him.
No it doesn't Radars in war thunder do not see through terrain.

@nick4819 radars don't pass through buildings either. The only thing they pass through are *some* leaves which are also very inconsistent.

When I have to deal with a good SPAA player I just throw 2-3 missiles at them in a few second intervals it gets them 99% of the time.

I see Im not the only one that actually cares to intercept munitions. I love seeing people with brain. I even try to intercept enemy SPAA Missiles, but overwhelmingly you have too little time to do so.
