  • Blizzard Beach was the third Walt Disney World water park and it's arguably the most thrilling. This park is themed to a freak snowstorm hitting Florida and the failed ski resort that was created. You have some wintery theming and the iconic Mt. Gushmore in the center. This probably opened as the world's best water park in 1995, but it hasn't gotten much investment ever since. Is it still worth visiting? Find out in this review!

As someone who visited Blizzard Beach in the late 90s, it actually gives me warm fuzzies to see that virtually nothing has changed. Call it the nostalgia filter, but I really think this park is perfect as is. The theming is so unique here - I have remembered that little family of snowpeople for years - and when my family used to visit, we could spend all day at our favorite attractions. Plus those views on the chairlift are awesome.

That's fair to be excited for nostalgia reasons.

I hope one day that they open both waterparks at the same time because I've never experienced both during the same vacation and the only way to truly determine which one you like more is by visiting them back to back. Although, I am pretty sure I would still pick Blizzard Beach more because it has a more thrilling slide lineup and a more creative atmosphere for the state of Florida that also reminds me of the winters that I experience as a Minnesotan.

We got lucky last year our trip had Typhoon Lagoon open at the start and Blizzard Beach by the end.

I love this place but clearly Disney doesn't think they need to do anything to keep people coming. Most WDW guests are there for the dry parks so the water parks are an add on just to have a different kind of day so I don't think they base their trips on a desire to ride a new water slide. But it's kind of sad that Blizzard Beach hasn't had many changes other than a weird (and in my opinion out of place) retheme to a few spots with Frozen characters.

I am stunned they haven't gotten any new slides considering how high profile this park is.

Imagine a 1995 theme park enthusiast seeing a slidewheel

Its weird to see the remaining signatures of the Eisner era in the modern Disney landscape. They just feel... Out of place compared to the parks' current philosophy? Not necessarily in a bad way but its almost like Disney wants nothing to do with them. (DisneyQuest was like that too.)

Summit Plummet is such a weird fit for a Disney park.

The last time I went on Blizzard Beach was in 2012 when we stayed at Coronado. We did have fun there, but for the price of the ticket, I much rather skip it and go to the water parks around here in Brazil (Thermas dos Laranjais and Beach Park are two world class water parks that are higher in my ranking than BB) - this is really missing a new slide complex

That is fair. I agree they need some sort of new slide complex.

I didn't realize they were only opening one water park at a time now... are they just letting these parks die out? I have always found it absurd that they have not added a single attraction to Blizzard since opening. At least Typhoon added Crush n Gusher & that new family raft slide (even if that was just a replacement for a far better attraction in the shark reef you could swim through) but both have seen pathetic levels of investment even if they do cover most of the basic ride types. I'm sure Volcano Bay is killing them in terms of competition, rightfully so, and with that infamous Park Hopper deal you mentioned I wonder if the water parks are even returning profit as that is the ONLY logical reason to still visit over Volcano Bay

I think they do it for staffing purposes, especially since the water parks don't get the same demand of the main parks. They can get away with only opening one.

Roller coasters don't give me any adrenaline anymore and my intensity tolerance is way too high. Can you help me with this so rollercoasters are thrilling again? And when I went on the Falcons Fury at BGT I got barely any adrenaline. And on the second and third rides I had a straight face
