    I have always had a struggle when it comes to analysis in my answers; this 16 minute video has helped me improved on my answers more than countless hours of revision blocks with my business teacher has done... It's a shame that I did not discover this page before paper one.

    Your intro was almost the exact replica of what happened to me. I am fairly confident in my Business knowledge but I was unable put in a good chain of analysis. I didn't even know what it was until I watched the video and I got a D in business. I looked at my papers and my teacher said my writing skills are lacking. I will be retaking my Business IAL in coming May. I really do hope I can prove myself on this subject and thank you very much to you for uploading these videos. I am very upset that I didn't find your channel before my first exam. I will give my all and will update on my score in about 5 - 6 months.

      I got my results tow days ago and I am proud to say that I got A in both Unit 1 and 2. I went from 56/100 to 90 and 92 out of 100 in the span of 3 months. Of course I had to put in a lot of effort but all of your videos did a lot for me. Your videos made me realize how far behind I was from getting an A. For that Thank you very much.

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  7 лет назад +2

      I'd always advise two points/chains for an AQA student. The trick is to make the chains of analysis longer as the questions increase in marks and add conclusion for the longer questions. Not sure if you've seen this exemplar, but even on a 25 marker, note how there are still only two points and chains of analysis. I think this is a very useful resources

      do you add 5 chains for every question like per point ?

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  7 лет назад +6

      Yes - 5 for each point.
      Aim for 5 (remember, 5 is just an arbitrary number I tell my students - this is not something the exam board have suggested), but if you can make chains longer than that then go for it, especially once a question is worth 20+.
      Also, don't be afraid to address both positive and negative consequences in your chains. For example, in a chain you might make a point, give a chain of positive impacts and then give a 'however, it could also lead to these negatives...'

    • @jackcoombes2930
      @jackcoombes2930 7 лет назад

      in terms of 5 chains would that be
      5 it leads to so
      1 thing leads to this which means this, this, this , this and this being 5
      then another being another 5

When they specifically mention what we have to analyse how should we be framing the answer? Should we stick with just the benefits or limitations asked in the question or add the opposites?

  • @CM-tp6un
    @CM-tp6un 7 лет назад

    Hi sir, for some questions if they ask why Asos has better market capitalisation would you use this logical chain of analysis even even if it doesn't fully link with the question but then use the hook to make it relevant. I don't sometimes it feels as if I go off in a tangent, and just randomly link back to the question.

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  7 лет назад +1

      I think it is important that you give a chain of analysis that is linked to the point you are making - which in turn is relevant to the question that was asked. The problem of going off on tangents is a common one, but one you should try to avoid. Try to show the examine a real clear line of logic between the question, your point and the chain of consequences you offer.

    • @TakingTheBiz

    Hi, I am sitting a business studies exam tomorrow and I was just wondering, if a 8 mark question is giving me 4 marks for analysis would it be a good idea for me to do 4 chains of analysis or only do 2 analysis points and then do 2 chains of analysis?

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure which exam board you follow, so check this advice with your teacher, but I wouldn't advise 4 separate chains of analysis in an 8 mark question. Two points, each analysed well, should be sufficient.

    Quick question, once you've analysed one of the point, how will you connect them with the other 3 points you have

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  7 лет назад

      Unless I was answering a 25 mark question, I wouldn't have another 3 points. I'd have one well analysed point agreeing with the question/setting out one side of the argument and a well analysed point setting out an alternative side of the argument. Then I'd have a conclusion.

      Which qualification & exam board are you studying?

    • @louisindradjaja2535
      @louisindradjaja2535 7 лет назад

      As Level, Paper 1/2
      or
      A level, Paper 1/2
      (Cambridge)

      If you are studying the OCR A level then for 12 mark questions (which are evaluative on the OCR spec) a 3 paragraph approach is suitable.
      If you are studying the Cambridge Nationals in Business or Business and Enterprise then this is not a qualification I am familiar with so I couldn't offer advice on how to structure answers.

      One potential impact of this point might be...
      Then keep the chain going using 'connectives' that force you to keep analysing, such as 'therefore, because, leading to, consequently, furthermore, however, moreover, as a result' etc

    Great video. Just a quick question, when doing an analyse question would you advise to always do chain of analysis or can you just "scatter gun" the impacts etc?

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  7 лет назад

      I'd always try to create one strong chain per point, with any 'scatter gunning' being in addition to your chain. Hope this helps.

      quick question, you know the aqa paper 2 paper what would you advise revising as the paper is based on case studys?

    • @TakingTheBiz
      @TakingTheBiz  7 лет назад

      Such a hard question to answer - it's based on case studies but they really could ask any topic from the spec. Perhaps topics that were used for the longer questions on paper 1 are less likely to come up but that's about it. I did notice that topics like marketing and HR were quite lightly used in paper 1 and there's always likely to be something on ratios when there are case studies, as AQA have the scope to provide more financial data for you to use - but it really is anybody's guess, which is what makes three synoptic papers such a tough form of assessment.
