Yes . I have tried this. After a month my battery pack stoped working. 2 line ok but middle one is showing 0 voltage instead of 4.2. I have fixed new cell again same result after one week. I recommend to use only lead acid battery in ups.

Lead acid cut off voltage is 10.5 volt, for 3 s li ion it is 9 v ,at 10.5v you can't use half of your battery capacity
