Hi Jess, can you please make a video where you explain the difference between the color profiles for editing and how to manage the transition between Lightroom and photoshop, or saving in Lightroom directly, or in photoshop? Thanks 😍
Hi Jess! For the calibration I had to turn down my brightness quite a bit now causing my images to look drab. Once the calibration is complete, how will it affect my adjustments on my image if I turn it back up? Thank You:)
I need this! But am not willing to part with that much as this is just a hobby. You can rent these, along with a multitude of other camera kit from others on a great website called Fat Llama. You can also hire out your own kit.
HI Jess, thankyou for sharing this. Have you ever used a separate screen and laptop and colour calibrated them both? I need to calibrate both my MacBook pro and my BenQ editing screen esp as they are giving off different colour casts. I am not sure if it will calibrate them separately? Is this something you can advise on or if I need to check with the guys at Spyder? Thinking if it is using a USB connected to laptop then it will only calibrate the laptop? not the editing screen, hope makes sense?
The Spyder Elite does multiple monitors in the same calibration setting - so that's what you want 🙂 The laptop will recognise the 2nd screen 👍🏼 This link may help also - www.datacolor.com/spyderx-elite-same-color-on-different-screens/
Jess, how did you figure out the adjustment you made for the print lab? Was it just trial and error or did the print lab give you a profile? I read about photographers using labs profiles (I think that's the right word?), but have never really pursued this. Also, how cool about the custom photo option. I have been calibrating for years, but had no idea about that custom image button! Definitely learned a useful new trick! So thanks! :)
For me, I just did a tweak with the print present and ran another test. The profiles are fine to check the difference but for me they don't solve minor colour inconsistencies so for me the tweak and test method works best 🙈
Jess, I have a 2015 Mac Book pro retinal screen and I'm using the Spyder 5 Elite to calibrate. I have followed your video but when I reach the end of my calibration process I'm not getting 100% for sRGB it's only 99%. Can I tweak something to get 100%. Thanks
Perfect timing. Just bought my spyder x 🥰

@@ThatPhotographySpot Gotcha, thank you!!!!
What print lab do you use? I've been using whcc and wonder if I need to fine tune mine a bit?
How do I know what to set my brightness to
Why do u need to do it every month? Will the monitor change automatically so frequently?

Hey Michelle, it might be the screen on the 2015 models, you should be fine with 99% for most things!
Thanks Jess for prompt reply😄
Can you calibrate a laptop or does it need to be a ‘proper’ computer screen?
Laptops work too 🤓
