I had a similar experience back in 1990 or 91. 3 of my high school buddies and I were bored one night and decided to check out Stull Church. As we rounded the curve, my Jeep chugged a few times...like it wanted to quit on us. I didn't think much about it and continued driving toward the cemetary. For whatever reason the gate was open and we were able to drive up close to the church. All of us got out of my Jeep and approached the rest of the way on foot. We argued for a few seconds on who was going inside. I finally grabbed the flashlight and volunteered. I climbed into the church from that doorway where there's no stairs. Once inside I remember looking up and seeing all the stars through what used to be the ceiling. After standing there in the dark for a few seconds, I shined my light on the far wall. Perfectly, within the round beam of light, was the name MATT written in red. Blood...spray paint...I don't know...but it completely freaked us out. My buddies ran back to the Jeep, but I remained frozen there for a few seconds. I finally snapped out of it, ran to the Jeep, and we took off like a bat out of hell. As we rounded that same corner making our was back to Topeka, we saw a perfect circle of mist in the road in front of us. It almost looked like a portal or something. I just remember us screaming as we drove through it...and then it was over.
It was my idea to go there, so it couldn't have been sprayed painted on the wall by one of them beforehand. I talked to one of the guys about 20 years later and he still remembers that night. Coincidence that my name was on the wall? Maybe...or maybe not (cue creepy horror music).

I run deliveries through this area every now and then. I don't have any ghost experiences or anything like that, but I will tell you once my partner I was working with wanted to see it, so we stopped for a moment while we were passing through. We talked about it for a few minutes and started up the truck again and headed out. At the very next intersection, the truck would not turn and the brakes hesitated. I finally got the brakes to work and stopped the truck. Got out and inspected it but everything looked as it should have. Got back in and everything was working fine again. Now my truck isn't the best, but that was the only time that ever happened. I had the truck checked out and it came back just fine. Coincidence? Maybe. I am a believer in the supernatural but a rational thinker as well.

I live in Auburn and used to go to Stull with my friends in high school on weekends. I always got an ominous feeling when we'd go there. Well one night on Halloween we just kept driving around aimlessly and found ourselves "lost", and we wound up at the other cemetary, where we saw a bunch of people standing around this orangeish glow. We decided to back up and leave, but when my friend tried to reverse there was a gate that was blocking us in, and the people had moved to right in front of us about 30 yards (maybe more). His truck died (like it was the battery), and then all of a sudden it fired back up, he pulled forward about 10 feet, threw it into reverse, slammed on the gas, and when we turned around the to help direct him we saw the gate was gone, and he found a little driveway backed in it and we looked back the way we came and everything was gone, no glow, no people, no gate, nothing. We headed the other way and went maybe 50 yards, and we found the main road that led into Stull. All the way back home we kept trying to figure out if we had managed to actually drive into Hell, or what actually happened. It took about 5 minutes before my friend asked what time it was, cuz his clock read 3:07 the whole time, as did all of our phones, and his as well. It wasn't until November 1st when they reset themselves automatically. We went back to where the road was a year later, and it wasn't there, and we never talked about what happened. It wasn't until about 5 years ago when I became more interested in the paranormal, and realized what we saw, and experienced.

I recently stopped there to take pictures for a friend in Russia who had mentioned Stull. The phone wouldn't save the pictures until I restarted and took them again. I was on my way from Topeka to visit my sister and brother-in-law in Lenexa. On the way home that night, I took the same route. My phone went from 11:57 when checking it 5 miles east of Stull to 01:06 after I passed Stull. My phone has never had issues. Galaxy Note 10+. Plenty of memory remaining. Screen shots are sketchy now. They often won't save, like today. They won't. The time and calendar has been jacked up. It said April 16, 2002 a few days ago. It's never had issues until I stopped to take pictures of the cemetery and then when I passed through again, the time and date issues also began. Weird. Weird that you had a similar issue. 🤔

The Stull, KS, church was torn down some time in very late 1990s-early 2000s due to stability/safety reasons. I first heard this story in early 2000s and visited site and there was nothing but a pile of rubble - was quite disappointed that church was torn down but have seen photos of it. The "infamous" tree where the Devils child is supposed to be buried does not exist (or has collapsed due to age) nor the storm cellar with stairs to Hell. Storm cellar was supposed to be on north side of church and, of course, unable to see from the county road that the cemetery sits on. Have been to Stull, KS, numerous times and never found/experienced/felt anything. For a tiny town of 4-5 buildings and local population less than 20 or so people, this little town just cannot get a break. You are more likely to have an "experience" at Theorosa's Bridge out by Park City, KS, or the Sallie House in Atchison, KS.

I moved to Topeka in 1995. Been to Stull. Church is gone now. :( So is the big tree. No one knows why they tore the church down, but Topeka IS the devil's town (666 zipcode as you pointed out, mine was 66608). I have since moved, two people I knew were shot in the same week. Both in the head. One was grazed, the other did not survive. :( It has been closely guarded lately. You can't even get close anymore at nigh. It's usually not the police either, but locals trying to keep the graveyard from being vandalized.

Visited it several nights around 1988. The walls were made out of some kind of soft limestone, you couldn't break a glass bottle against it. But all the supernatural stories are just urban myth. The church is what is now private land, hence the fence. The scariest thing that ever happened while being inside the church walls was the cow in the darkness. The church was in what was a cow pasture (again, hence the fence). "Whoa, what was that? Listen. Holy Shit! Something's there. It's moving towards us!" Then a cow mooed. HA.

It’s said that if someone sees the 8th window in the back of the church and it’s lit up that something bad will happen in the town. The person who made this video saw the lit up window....and he doesn’t live too far from Stull....so I’m wondering if anything bad happened, and if so I’m curious what it was.

I live in Lawrence, Stull is about 10 miles out. I was driving on a dirt road with my buddy and all of a sudden a dog ran across the road infront of us. We slammed on the brakes and watched the dog turn into a ghost and float over a fence and disappear.... now im parked in the middle of the road, middle of the night, because a ghost ran infront of my car.... and guess what was on the other side of the fence. The hill. And the stull cemetery! And we got the fuck out of there needless to say. Cant make this shit up

Awesome! it is very simmilar to Stull with less structure! A cemetery owned by a small town plantation of the eighteen hundreds to mid 1950 or so? only about thirty graves in graveyard? Owned by the Doolittles. In it's peak in a complete rural of nothingnes in Maltbey washington about thirty miles East on Highway 5 from Seattle, Known for many manifestations of hauntings, a ghost mother ragety with two young children, orbs thick fog, folks have reported being struck hard, claw marks, variety of shaddow manifestations, on a hill so many old abandoned cars over the years o n slant, on the main road paradise lk road many a fatal car wrecks with crosses symbolizing their deaths to this day. the whole place is cursed really. But most notably for the Thirteen steps to hell! Where legends are many. Walk them on a full moon you get possesed, mostly you walk them and on thirteenth you can't see up and see a vision of you're soul in hell, often times people returned catatonic and forced to live remander of life in mental hospital. i have been there several times but not before they built houses surrounding and seen no steps that were appArently sealed in the early nineties, It is sppoky and foggy as hell though! Just like Stull it is very illegal to be there and neighbors will call cops if seen tresspassing, Due to extreem vandolism! REal santanic cults have dug up graves over the years and even done a human sacrafise i believe at some point in history? a member of family is rumored to walk the cemetry at night with a shot gun ready to pump rock salt in any tresspasser who dares go there at night supposably? More info Google paradise valley-Maltby cemery Washington State! Every one has own stories of place lol! Satanists supposably owned graveyard but i doubt that to be true? One grave with masonic pentaclke symbol called order of pendo could easily be misinterpreted as satanic?

Google Maps shows what looks to be the foundation of a building in Stull Cemetery, about smack dab in the center. Is that the foundation of the church, and if it is, why didn't whoever tore down the church also destroy the foundation to further deter the curious?
One other thing: I've read claims that the legend is true but that most people are looking in the wrong cemetery and that the one with the stairway is much older (mid 1800's), smaller, and harder to find. No one--understandability--will say exactly where it is, but I did find a small cemetery at the junction of E 250 and N 1400 Roads, south of Stull.

There was a house not a church, cemetery on se 93rd St that was torn down about the same time as Stull. Far more diabolical than Stull at least on the surface. Clearly a ritual site that unfortunately I visited in the 90s not ritually just dumb kids . Never got the creepy feeling at Stull but the sight of that house sends shivers up my spine just thinking about it. New house on that site now by the way.

There are satanic practitioners near Topeka. Have an interesting story about a spot in the woods northwest of Perry lake. A couple friends I knew found an altar and dead animals hanging in trees near by. Supposed to have been chashed out by people in robes. They were hunting at the time and both were armed. They were so freaked they both ran like scared little girls. One is dead now from a horrible infection that literally ate his bottom jaw off. The other is horribly disfigured from a spinal operation that went wrong. Still alive but can barely walk. Hunched back kinda thing.

Runeding's Viking Reviews about 12 years ago me and a couple friends drove there around midnight on night and while driving threw my car dash lights all started fading real low then getting bright again and my car died like 3 times while driving, witch was weird because my car never did any of this before and never did it after leaving. im just glad it started back up every time.
