Followed this guide since Kui Nameplates died with Dragonflight pre-patch. I was seriously dreading setting up Nameplates all over again but thanks to your guide it went quicker
One thing I'll mention here for any readers scrolling by is one of the very last steps you did was enable friendly player click through on the nameplates, so town NPCs are easier to click. That makes sense with you being a tank. But it took me a minute to realize as a Healer it was screwing me up in battlegrounds until I disabled that setting. I was struggling to click my team dudes on the field 🤣
hello guys .In kui nameplates there was a part called Cvars, it was so that plate names didn't go off the screen when the boses were giants. Do you know if threat plate has that function to configure?
Not only are your videos, very educational, and easy to understand and you dont jump all over the place when explaining stuff, I find you funny too. Keep up the good work.
Mad late to this video but im 9 months into wow , got to heroic raiding in DF, but was basically on default UI when it came to nameplates and targeting cause all videos I watched just made it confusing. This video was amazing especially for a semi new WoW player. Im excited to use it especially when Im overwhelmed as a dps and sometimes dont know what im targeting lol. Thank you man!
Bro. This was an insane find for me. This video has helped me so much. New to tanking in DF and I've been struggling with my ui and keeping track of alot of things. How you're not bigger blows my mind. TYSM!!
Not sure if I missed it but TP doesn't have any filtering by target distance does it? Plater has it, and it's been very handy, but lacks in other areas.

In case you're wondering, 'localization' is a technical term specific to translation studies. It refers in general to any changes you might make in translation so that things feel familiar to the reader of a translated text, and in particular to changing formats of date&time, units of measure, and such. You 'localize' stuff so that it fits the habits of the target reader. See that, 'Transliterate Cyrillic Letters'? It's worth a try if you're at a loss with all the 'Russian' names in the game.
Excellent guide! I had been experimenting with different nameplate addons trying to find the one I liked best and this one is so great! My setup is pretty similar to yours, but under automation I have it set to show healthbars instead of headlines on friendly units in combat. I ended up leaving neutral NPCs to healthbar view because on attackable NPCs/creatures I'd prefer to see their healthbar-- and the headline "force view by status" option takes care of the other ones. There's so many options it's really easy to tweak it the way you want.
hey man, appreciate the video. i've been trying to set up threat plates but for some reason when i enter a raid group or party the default blizzard nameplates come up. when i'm not in a group all friendly nameplates are set up perfectly as I want it to be through the addon. is there a setting in threat plates to keep the same nameplate configuration in a group? sorry if you answered this at some point in the video, might have missed it due to the length of the video >.
Thanks for this. got my plates sorted. Somehow it was hard to find a good setting for the spacing of these plates. i ended up testing for an hour for tanking. ended up on 0.01 75% and 68% under blizzard settings in general tab. Under threat system textures i removed that as it is very annoying on your screen. If green good, yellow slap some tps on it. green you tank it. All fine! perfect. Thanks again
Awesome guide , helped me fix some things , though I was mainly looking for my "Personal Cast Bar" , does this addon even have Cast Bar ? anyone could help me w that ? thanks
Can't find how I make the debuff above the plate bigger. It's so small on default Icon width, okey, found it, but my version won't allow me to change size...
March 2, 2024 the "copy from" or "import" from one character's profile to a new character does not work. I have tried a thousand times to get my settings from my hunter to my DK but nothing works. Help please. Current TP version is 11.1.39 and is the must up to date offered on Curse. I don't want to have to manually go through everything for every single character I have.
In kui nameplates there was a part called Cvars, it was so that plate names didn't go off the screen when the boses were giants. Do you know if threat plate has that function to configure?
ok so is there a way to have numerical hp? i can get it so i can see it on the target but not for people running around. id like to pick out a 30k hp archer in a crowd.
If ur using BIGDEBUFFS how do you turn off the cc icons on the enemy health bar view? its showing both from threatplates and BIGDEBUFFS? i have it turned off but it still shows it when i poly or frost nova something.
Hey Coach! This guide is awesome, but I had a question! Currently playing classic SoD, and trying to use ThreatPlates to show friendly name plates in dungeons, but no matter what I do it only shows default blizzard nameplates. I made "show blizzard nameplates" was off in visibility, but still no luck! I'm playing heal mage so i want to see the buffs and things i'm putting on friends to manage my heals! I heard that blizzard made some sort of ban or something that prevented friendly (only friendly) nameplates from being modified by addons in dungeons/instanced areas back in legion, but I don't know if that's true. Any help? Super frustrating!
why some friendly nameplates have 1 BIGGG buff of them next to their name. like warr deff stance or some holy pala buff. or ghostwolf from shaman. Its soo big on my screen. idk how to turn this off and i didnt find this in ur video :(
Idk if he goes over this in the last part but i cant seem to find any way to increase the distance for the nameplates to actually activate... I have to get pretty close to mobs in order to actually see the nameplates
If anyone can find a way to make it show only your debuffs on all targets and then only show buffs on the selected target please let me know. I can't get seem to find a way.
I tried Tidy Plates, but I just wan't happy with it. I think I spent around 3 hours on Threat Plates after watching your video and I think I'm OK with what I got now. It's a huge improvement in many respects and just a few minor things aren't quite as I would like. It's cool that you can use the (optional) DogTag library to customize all the text labels, so I made friendly names show either the guild or the health under the player name. If the target health is under 95%, then that is shown and colored yellow or red based on the percentage: [PercentHP < 0.3 ? Red ! (PercentHP < 0.5 ? Yellow)][PercentHP < 95 ? Concatenate(Round(HP / 1000), "K ", PercentHP, "%") ! Guild]
Is it possible to have something to that tells me exactly which add im attacking at the moment, like a highlight in the group of adds like this is the one youre on
May i ask if i can change the threat style in health bar section to not be with borders, maybe changing the color of the whole bar ( or just get rid of that bar when dont have full agro )
Do the health bars disappear if they are too high? For example, if there's a huge boss, most health bars are above the camera so you can't see it. Plater locks it at the top of the screen.... does that plates do that?
How do you scale an aggroed target to be bigger. Preaggro all are yellow and selecting one makes it bigger. Aggro them they all are same scale and green no matter how you switch focus too....
Does anyone know why the scaling of name plates won't work if I am in combat? Its so key for me to make whoever I have targeted bigger, is there anything I am missing within settings do this doesn't turn off once i pull a pack of mobs?
after i change the blizzard settings and drop down the vertical overlap like you have, each time I log out and back in it resets this specific setting, but nothing else? any thoughts on how to correct this?
might be missing something here lol I use Threat plates BUT cannot find the Overlapping, stacking option UI frames end up in the sky before they do NOT overlap any helpers ty
How do I adjust my current target size? Whenever I click what I want to attack, the name and health bar gets like 50% bigger and it’s too much. Slightly bigger would be enough and it’s annoying at the moment
Where is the import? I have had to default my laptop because of Blizzard corrupt file issue and now my TP is all mess up. I know how to set it up and it take a while buuuut.... I need to get up and running fast for my guild raids. Anyway I can get help on this LOL please and thank you
How you keep the size the same of the monster hp bar the same as when you pull in combat I got the same settings as you but the add-on changes to a smaller size when I go in combat with it
Hey, nice video. I just have 1 problem. I play classic wotlk, and nameplates wont stay inside the screen if the mob is bigger and so on. Try to figure out how to clamp the plates to screen, but with no luck….anyone can help me out?
I learned so much more about this addon then I thought was possible. Thank you so much for the time and effort that went into making this guide. You Cleared up a lot of questions that I had. I have 1 issue that I cannot resolve. When I target something, there is a white border around the nameplate. I just can't figure it out. Btw I just subscribed, I really like your content. DISREGUARD: I watched your video again and figured it out. I missed it the first go around. Thanks again.

After fumbling around with this addon to no avail, for many hours. I can finally understand the guide. Thank you!

@32:25 (just stamping this for personal reference) thank you for the time you put into this video and making navigation through TP easier

Thanks for this. I wanted to stop using ELVUI and this was easy to follow - I love my set up.
Launch of Cataclysm classic, this vid really does Threat Plates justice. Thank you!

Great Video. Time stamps would be awsome, I m looking where I can create bigger deebuffs on the target. Maybe someone can help me.

How do you Increase the range of the threat plate for casters?
If anyone can find a way to make it show only your debuffs on all targets and then only show buffs on the selected target please let me know. I can't get seem to find a way.
How do you set it so that the enemy nameplates target is in text? And I never could find out how to make the crowd control icons smaller/bigger.

I don't see enemy cast bars in PvP with this addon in SoD - any idea why that could be?
how do i change the size of FRIENDLY raid markers? Its unfortunately not the setting on target markers
Do you have a import to remove every Guardian except psyfiend?
I can't find it, but is it possible to show all debuffs on the "Threat Plates"?
Absolute best!
Is it possible to have something to that tells me exactly which add im attacking at the moment, like a highlight in the group of adds like this is the one youre on
Im prot war and when rend goes on a target it shows on top of the health bar, how do i turn off so it dosent show rend, deep wound etc`?

No problem 👍
How do I adjust my current target size? Whenever I click what I want to attack, the name and health bar gets like 50% bigger and it’s too much. Slightly bigger would be enough and it’s annoying at the moment
So I adjusted everything to my liking. And I ran a dungeon to test it. Health bars look normal at first, then when they are tagged they go tiny.
SO do I have to become a patron for the code? I like what you have done and I would like to test it
Does someone know how to block aura's please? Typing the spell name or spell id does not work.
great guide!
is there a way to copy the exact same one u have?
How do I stop the enemy health bar from moving up and down then UP and down its so annoying : (!
Where is the import? I have had to default my laptop because of Blizzard corrupt file issue and now my TP is all mess up. I know how to set it up and it take a while buuuut.... I need to get up and running fast for my guild raids. Anyway I can get help on this LOL please and thank you

Thanks guy excelent video
You're welcome! Love making these thigns!
what about the range from the nameplates i wanna see them from far away?
Range indicator is a general option also!
How do your plates show from so far away?
Nice vid man. I have a question about enemy players. In BGs I only see their names, without the health bar. How can I fix it?
Hey, nice video. I just have 1 problem. I play classic wotlk, and nameplates wont stay inside the screen if the mob is bigger and so on. Try to figure out how to clamp the plates to screen, but with no luck….anyone can help me out?
Is there something i can do to stop the "border" flickering when i move my camera around?

Can you please help me with pvp target cast bar? 🙏
Thnks for the video, you helped me so much.
i ve got so many lua errors in dragonflight with threat platesi dont know what to do
Really helpful, thanks!
Was hoping to find out how to make the nameplates drop low on big model bosses.
