    The argument about it being too hard is in fact a really good argument. The others are just stupid. The 3D editing can either be easy to use, or really complicated. There's a very thin line between those for a 3D maker game.

  • @john_reactionz0610
    @john_reactionz0610 Год назад +12

    Finally, someone underatands a 3D Maker is possible. It can be done. There can just be a grid but it's a 3D grid layout on the bottom and then you can just start making a level. Also, Super Mario Maker 3 could have a feature where you can switch to 2D Maker or switch to 3D Maker. Or just make Super Mario Maker 3, 3D.

  • @ZacharyNoah
    @ZacharyNoah Год назад +46

    It would be much easier on Nintendo if Super Mario Maker 3 remains in 2D and Super Mario 3D Maker becomes its own thing. In other words, a spin-off to the Super Mario Maker series. If the former game does eventually come to fruition, then it should have the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game style, along with the other game styles returning from the first two installments. It should also have more course elements, more themes, and more playable characters.

    • @uiinpui

      I agree. If SMM3D would be the only game where would all the 2d styles go. Those would just look weird in 3D. Having a part of the game in 3D and a part of the game in 2D is possible (as shown in SMO), but it's still something that Nintendo wouldn't do for Mario Maker.

    • @Pyrodiac
      @Pyrodiac Год назад +1

      Quite frankly if they're going to make SMM3D its own thing they may as well call it SMM3 anyway and port SMM2 to the next Nintendo console with some added features. Then again isn't that just what SMM2 is? A glorified port of SMM to the Switch with some added features?

    They can ABSOLOUTELY create Excitement with another 2D Mario Maker. Sorry to say this, but pointing to fan trailers is just kinda dumb. Fans have just some Ideas they want to showcase, while at Nintendo and other Game punlishers, they also think about what could be marketable and what generates Hype. The Issue with Mario Maker 2 was that it kinda just... launched. And then everyone forgot about it by the time the first update released. They could easily keep a 2D Mario Maker alive by just adding more updates quicker (or following some other Strategy).
    A 3D Mario maker would not be fun. Even if it somehow controls well, Creating a level would take forever. Since you Brought up Minecraft: It took me 15 Minutes to build a Small House and it took me 45 Minutes to build a small ship. And you can Move through the entire house in just a few seconds. So if I made a 3d Mario Level, it would easily take days just to build a level that is cleared in a Minute. 3D Level Desing just is slow and Hard. So the quality of online levels would no doubt be low.
    A Minecraft Style control scheme wouldn't work for several reasons:
    1. Perspective: When Building a level in first Person, you are going to see it differently to when you play it in third Person. Third Person Block Building is very clunky and feels unnatural.
    2. Minecraft always starts you with some Ground to build on. Without it, you'd have to place blocks in the air, which would be impossible. But for (3D) Mario, you can't just put a ground layer everywhere, because that'd remove both Bottomless Pits and would enable a LOT of cheese. So wh not remove the Ground? The Issue with Building Blocks in the air is the following: Do you want the Block Right in front of the Camera? Or do you want it at the very endge of the level?
    Problems with the Game Builder Garage Style:
    1. It takes a LOT of time to learn the Game builder garage editor.
    2.While a lot of cool 3D Projects and Recreations exist, they also take a LOT of time to make. Probably wayyy longer that on Minecraft.
    Even if using another control scheme it will most likely still have several flaws and it would take an absurd amount of time to make a level.

      @farbencut Год назад +1

      @@inkcreeper918 I thought of something like that as well, but it doesn’t change much. 3D level design is still hard, still takes a long time, there’s still an issue with placing blocks in the air. With a drag and drop feature, levels would also be very blocky.

      There would probably be some premade sample combos to ease 3D level design, a bit like some of the "Trolled!" combos from Rejected Mario Updates - I forget which episode. You'd have to be able to edit the individual layers of the sample combos and/or make and save your own combos, but they could ease some of the tedium of building a 3D level.

  • @thee2121
    @thee2121 Год назад +5

    I disagree. Nintendo could easily generate hype for mario maker 3 without it being 3D. Obviously adding new course elements and themes helps, but they could add a new game mode. Maybe you get to play as Bowser? Maybe they add a gamemode simelar to ultimate chicken horse? Bring back mario vs luigi mode from the ds? Doesn't matter as long as they have something like that.
    Next, to make it seem like a substantial upgrade from smm2, polish everything that felt off from that game. Split endless mode/ 100 mario challenge into to sperate modes, make a more powerful super world creation tool. Make coop and versus modes feel more integrated into the game, add more interactions between existing course parts to make the game feel more complete ect..
    They could also add some other smaller featers that add up, like a simple music creator, or sprite creator. A way to make a public collection of levels including other peoples levels, kind of like playlists but for mario maker levels. Why not add functionality to remix levels? ect...
    And finally they need to sustain the hype. Instead of doing large but infrequent updates to the game like in smm2. Do smaller updates overtime, but more frequent so there's constatly new course parts to mess around with, for people to get creative with and to keep the community alive.
    They can also community events, like level making competitions where you have to make a level with limited course parts or under a certain theme, and the community votes for the best level. Do ninji speedruns more often, maybe by using user made levels for the speedruns, make other weekly competitions over playing peoples levels/ worlds. Maybe do something like splatfests but instead of fighting it out over turf wars, you play versus mode?
    There is so much you can do with this series before you just make it 3D

      They should bring back the costumes from Mario Maker 1 as well. They didn't offer much to the game, but were well-loved. Even if they can't bring back the non-Nintendo costumes, I imagine Mario Maker 1 fans would get really excited for it. They should bring back lanky Mario if they make Mario Maker 3. It was so much a funny thing to the game, but Nintendo teased us of lanky Mario in one of Mario Maker 2's eastereggs (like knocking on the door enough times in the level maker) and when you fail a minigame for 1 ups in Super Worlds, but didn't actually bring back the "Weird Mushroom". Of course, they should bring brand new stuff, but long-time fans of Mario Maker 1 would really love to see those missing features return for reals

    Personally i would prefer a Mario Maker 3 in 2D cause i felt like Mario Maker 2 was uncomplet, it is more complete than Mario Maker 1 but still there's so much stuffs missing and if they do a Mario Maker 3 in 3D there's a HUGE chance that it would felt uncomplet too but honestly i won't mind if they give a Mario Maker 3 where you can build in 2D or 3D depending on your choice

  • @Lukas99g
    @Lukas99g 8 месяцев назад +2

    personally i feel like a lot of the unique interactions between every item that mario maker has which is what allowed everyone to keep finding new and creative ways to use every element in the mario maker games would be lost in 3D
    plus levels would easily become difficult to navigate with the third person camera if its not designed well
    and im gonna be honest, i hate the way that 3D space is represented in the game builder garage editor, its so hard to figure out where anything is when you have to keep switching between the 2 perspectives and i dont think nintendo would make the kinda level editor where you walk around as the game character while building like minecraft, fortnite etc

      Heck, some RUclips channels known for Mario Maker content, goes back to Mario Maker 1 sometimes. If your sequel game lacks enough of the charm and features that the first game in the series had, and people go back to the first game in the series, you've made a bad sequel. Even after Nintendo shut down uploading new levels to Mario Maker 1, people still return to it. That shows how poorly Nintendo handled Mario Maker 2, even though they added new great features that Mario Maker 1 did not have and had some new content added after launch.

    My wishlist for a Mario 3D maker is:
    -64; Sunshine; Galaxy and 3D Land / World styles.
    -All related power ups to be included with the same methology (so caps for 64; F.L.U.D.D. upgrades for Sunshine and so on).
    -Cross generation (so for example, King Bob-Omb and Dino Piranha in at least 2 game styles; and Bowser being fightable in the same manner across all 4 styles).
    -Little to no cuts in terms of enemies.
    -Slopes (obviously).
    -Multiple characters.
    And, both point A to point B & mission base style of level editor.

    I'm so sick of people saying that Mario Maker 3 needs to be in 3D... Super Mario Maker 2 was just Mario Maker 1 with more features because... that's exactly what we needed. Because of that players asumed that Super Mario Maker 3 in 2D probably would be exactly the same thing. But there is a lot of ways to upgrade Super Mario Maker 2D that aren't just new enemies or power-ups. For example some kind of Part Maker. I'm not saying that 3D maker would be bad, but I love 2D gameplay an I don't understand why people think it is limited.
    That "more than just new features" can be something other than 3D. Also "more than just new features" applies to like every franchise XD

The mobile game Honkai Impact 3rd, when they have their Fall Guys-like event, the devs don't run into legal problems for using a similar idea, as they bring back that event mode more than once. And Kirby used that Fall Guys-like idea as well with it's own twists. I don't think Nintendo would run into legal troubles for using that idea for a Mario Maker kind of software.

    Okay. So... wow. A LOT to unpack here...
    0:37 - So you work there huh? It couldn't possibly be that they had to prioritize certain things so the game would come out eventually? Also this same logic would mean that Mario Maker 2 would never have been made. You can really tell this person is NOT a game developer by this reasoning.
    1:13 - Lazy? Are you kidding me? You can tell he also has no clue how difficiult designing a game truly is and all the work involved.
    1:19 - Ahh yes. ONE graph of a specific less-common genre of game. Totally an accurate representation of the gaming landscape. Let's see those similar graphs for 3D World, the Mario RPG remale, and Mario Wonder, or even Mario Maker 1.
    1:57 - What? You're claiming the Switch could handle a new Mario Maker 3D because they were able to run 3D games from over a decade ago? LOL, keep in mind they're not even remasters. They're literally the same code from a decade ago. Besides, many report that 3D All-Stars does NOT run "just fine", actually. Talk about a nonsense argument.
    2:46 - LOL WHAT? So.... a full proper 3D level builder would be "easy to use" because "minecraft exists"? What? Those aren't even the same genre. Just because two things are 3D, doesn't make them even remotely related. The user interface, mechanic complexity, and user experience would be COMPLETELY different. This is like saying "You can easily code mobile apps because you know how to use Microsoft Word!" Yes they both involve typing text, but have NOTHING to do with each other.
    3:02 - The success of Game Builder Garage, or more accurately, the LACK thereof is proof that a 3D maker would be way too difficult. GBG did WAY worse than even MM2 in sales. So yeah, a different 3D creative game that has no relation to a level editor, and a game builder that sold EXTREMELY poorly are your two arguments AGAINST that a 3D level editor would have too high a barrier for entry.

    Except that Super Mario Maker is an official answer to fan-made SMW kaizo rom hacks, at least in large part, and its most loyal players are devoted to tight 2D game design. If Game Builder Garage is any indication, the degree of precision in the actual platforming/physics required for SMW- or SMM-style kaizo is just not possible to replicate with a 3D level builder. Besides, 2D platformers and 3D platformers are so vastly distinct mechanically that they are generally categorized as separate genres. Therefore, whether there "MUST" be a third Mario Maker game or not (FWIW, Nintendo likely does not consider SMM to be one of their more important properties), saying that Mario Maker 3 "MUST" be in 3D makes about as much sense as saying that it "MUST" include a first-person perspective.

    Imagine the possibilities for glitchy object interactions in a 3d maker. Nintendo has a hard enough time preventing glitches in a 2d realm. I would love to see what Level types and creativeivity spawn out of 3d levels.

    Also, the 3d level builder could be something like Trackmania's track editor, where there's pre-built shapes or structures to use, making any level look really smooth.

    I literally said this as Mario Maker 2 dropped, people have freaked at the two most known (if not the only) 3d Mario maker romhacks to Mario 64 alone, so why not an official game at this point? A game like 64 has been proven to be easy to break down into blocks, and Nintendo could go beyond that even!

    I mean, a SMBW Maker (not SMW, SM3DW or NSMBWii) would certainly bee cool, but more like an update for SMM2, SMM3 would also fit perfectly with 3D, because, well, SMM3D, BAM, perfect title. 2D Mario Maker will only be interesting again, if it's more like SMBX, a fangame with a fantastic level editor, where you can add custom things, you came up with yourself. Custom blocks, power-ups, music, backgrounds, etc. THAT is what SMM4 could be.

    I honestly think it won't happen:
    Because Nintendo is too lazy, let's be real, people were begging for Sinnoh remakes with new post game content, Nintendo made them, but they were too lazy to give us that new post game content, they made them better graphics copy and pasted original Diamond and Pearl, even the shiny starly at the beginning still has the chance of happening, but they shiny locked the Poochiana in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, they didn't care, so maybe if 3D Mario Maker comes, it will come with a cost like "the only 3D theme is Mario 3D Land, you know, Mario 3D World's less cool little brother on the 3DS"
    I'm not saying it won't happen, or that it will happen but it'll be bad, I'm just saying to not get your hopes up

    no
    Explanation: Mario maker 3 shouldn’t be 3D, because Mario Maker was made to be a Pixelated and HD Level designer to give us a hint of nostalgia that is why Mario Maker become so famous, also removing 2D levels completely would be a dumb decision I would like it if they made it have an option to switch your level between 3D and 2D whenever you want so you can have a 3D format Level and a 2D format level maybe even the pixelated DS angle format Level

      @@edupe6185 A switch in the menu kinda like the Day/Night Switch in the menu where your level goes from a 2D perspective and warps into a 3rd person view so basically kinda goes from viewing the side Mario to viewing the back Mario in order to make it 3D

    The difference between an actual mainline mario 3D and a maker 3D is that the level don't come with restrictions and it has a story which the maker one wont have.
    Edit:
    It was wirded dumb.
    The maker will have restrictions abd no story.
    The mainline will have story and no restrictions kinda
